Fairy, Don't Be Afraid, I Am Blind
Chapter 692 - 327: Accomplices
Everyone on the island was searching for the female cultivator named Zixun. You Su and Ji Xueruo headed out, encountering many cultivators with the same goal along the way.
Many opportunists directly attacked Ji Xueruo, thinking that even if she wasn’t Zixun, they would subdue her first just in case.
Once, Ji Xueruo even witnessed a murder firsthand. Despite the female cultivator pleading and repeatedly proving that she wasn’t the Fairy Zixun—presenting several tokens as evidence—she was still killed by the greedy cultivators in concert.
Their justification was that Zixun would never admit to being Zixun and might even kill another female cultivator to disguise herself.
So they stripped the female cultivator’s body bare. Someone even searched her thoroughly, reducing a solitary female cultivator into a mere bloody pulp. They only stopped once they were sure she didn’t possess any legacy items.
Even though they had no idea what these legacy items were or what they looked like.
When Ji Xueruo witnessed the scene, the female cultivator was beyond recognition, and Ji Xueruo deduced the rest from their curses.
She was furious and trembling, believing the island had already driven some people to madness. If the legacy were to fall into the hands of such beasts, what hope would there be for the Five Continents’ future?
She even felt a resentment toward the True Immortal Zhengyang, as the self-slaughter and hellish scenario had stemmed from his legacy, yet he did nothing to control it. What kind of inheritor was he seeking?
While she was full of indignation, the group turned their attentions to her, only sparing her life upon discovering her identity as part of the Demon Race.
They forced her and You Su to tear off talismans and leave the island willingly, believing like many on the island that by intimidating others into leaving the competition for the legacy, they’d be the ones to finally claim it.
Their threats suggested that such behavior had become prevalent on the immortal island, even forming sizable organizations.
Ji Xueruo naturally refused, clenching her teeth in fury.
This angered the mob, and someone suddenly suggested that she might be disguising her Demon Race identity, turning it into an excuse for violence. They surrounded her, despite the common knowledge among cultivators that humans couldn’t possess Demon Pills.
Many among them looked at Ji Xueruo with eyes burning with greed over her unparalleled beauty. Once the moral line was breached, the hidden evil inside could gush out like a flood, and this seemingly peaceful fairy island, where no one punished them, became a natural haven for these wolves.
Never had Ji Xueruo been so enraged. Her distrust toward male cultivators, which had softened because of You Su, intensified once more. Yet before she could act, You Su had already drawn his Ink Sword, cutting through the air with a deathly, black streak, and someone in the crowd had turned to dust.
They didn’t hold back, and in an instant erupted with their strongest power, aiming for a swift conclusion.
Everyone able to enter the island was exceptional, but there was disparity even among geniuses. Both You Su and Ji Xueruo were geniuses among geniuses. Even without You Su’s shared cultivation, Ji Xueruo, who was all-capable in the path of skills, would surely shine across the Five Continents one day.
This group, accustomed to bullying the weak, was terrified, having never imagined that two cultivators from the Condensed Water Lower Realm would be this violent. The two resembled a hellish demon duo working seamlessly together. When they remembered to tear talismans to exit the island, they found a spiritual entity— a white snake—had been hidden on them all along, snatching away their last hope.
In their despair, they realized they hadn’t immediately died, for the youth with the strange magical artifact had fed them his blood.
This battle was undoubtedly draining, especially for the two who hadn’t yet recovered to their peak. They were eager to find Zixun and couldn’t act with their weakened bodies, but they had angered Ji Xueruo, and in You Su’s eyes, they were doomed.
Thus, You Su turned them into flesh thralls, draining their cultivation and sharing a portion with Ji Xueruo, allowing them both to recover quickly.
Ji Xueruo was astonished at her state; her Demon Pill not only brimmed with Profound Qi but had even slightly advanced.
Was his progress so rapid... all due to this method?
You Su swiftly dealt with the bodies, while Ji Xueruo pressed her thin lips together:
"Do you... often do this?"
"Previously, I only used this against those evil cultivators with irredeemable sin. This was my first time using it against non-evil cultivators."
You Su patted the dust off his body with feigned calmness, but felt somewhat anxious inside.
Absorbing human Qi was by no means a righteous method, but circumstances led him to this act. There was no doubt he exposed his most terrifying side to Ji Xueruo.
Ji Xueruo was silent for a moment, then began walking away, her voice indifferent as she refrained from further questioning:
"They are no different from evil cultivators."
Hearing this, You Su quickly followed, Ji Xueruo’s calmness causing his anxiety to persist. After a moment’s hesitation, he explained:
"I feel the same... Even though Qu Zhaixing has sinned, I didn’t touch him. These people were unforgivable, so I did what I did..."
Unexpectedly, Ji Xueruo turned back and asked, frowning, "Why explain so much? Afraid I’ll see you as a monster?"
You Su was taken aback, then fell silent immediately.
"In any case, I benefited from you and have no right to blame you."
To You Su, her words implied that she refrained from blaming him out of necessity, not acceptance, deepening his sense of guilt.
Ji Xueruo studied You Su’s worried face, then pressed her lips together to ask:
"You weren’t lying to me? You only act this way against truly evil people?"
You Su nodded earnestly.
"Will you continue this in the future? Never abusing this method?"
You Su nodded firmly again.
Ji Xueruo extended a finger to poke his forehead, as if attempting to awaken this fool:
"Isn’t that enough? While this act is akin to a demonic method, I know you’re not a demon at heart. Good deeds reap good rewards, and evil deeds deserve evil rewards, but you are their evil reward. If you’re a monster, then I’m related to a monster."
Hearing this, You Su felt that slight unease dissolve into a boundless warmth. The opinions of those he cherished mattered most to him. Ji Xueruo’s understanding and trust lightened his conscience, and feeling relieved, he pulled the girl into a deep embrace, whispering intimately:
"Thank you."
Blushing, Ji Xueruo hurriedly broke free from You Su’s clinging embrace, arguing, "By relations, I meant a distant aunt and brother-in-law!"
You Su dismissed it with a smile, "Either way, you’re already an accomplice, inseparably linked."
"I was forced!"
"Even by force, you’re an accomplice and bound to me for life."
You Su continued his playful banter, the teasing exchange with Ji Xueruo relaxing his mind and body, casting aside the heaviness and anxiety from absorbing human Qi.
"Scram!"
Enraged, Ji Xueruo pushed You Su away as he approached with his shameless face.
Secretly, Ji Xueruo acknowledged that compared to many others, she recognized how precious someone like You Su truly was.
He was by no means a Saint, yet would never become a villain either.
Had anyone else on the island possessed such a heaven-defying method, they might have long become a walking, human-shaped Evil God upon the continent.
That You Su continued to adhere to targeting only the wicked was a feat in itself.
High above, two suns watched it all.
But they weren’t real suns; they were the eyes of someone.
