Fairy, Don't Be Afraid, I Am Blind
Chapter 688 - 324: A Way to Find Zixun
After the rain, the sky cleared, and the South Sea Immortal Island was bright with light. Above a secluded pond, a mist hung in the air, forming a colorful rainbow.
Two young female cultivators of outstanding appearance were resting against the verdant trees by the pond, one in a purple dress and the other in blue, both panting and looking tense.
These two women were none other than Zixun and Si Han, the sisters who had finally reunited with great difficulty.
"Junior Sister... we finally managed to escape..."
Zixun clutched her heaving chest, her makeup smeared, her face full of a sense of having survived a perilous situation. Although she was usually carefree, she was always mindful of her appearance, yet at this moment, she didn’t even bother to tuck her stray hair back behind her ears.
Leaning against another tree, Si Han wasn’t much better off. This usually shy and timid girl now had an unprecedented determination in her eyes. She reached out her hand to wipe away the blood from the corner of her lips and said softly:
"It’s not that simple. Although we’ve temporarily escaped from those people, after that transmission, probably the whole island now knows that you got the inheritance. Unless we can leave this island, there’s no way we can escape."
Hearing this, Zixun stomped her foot and clenched her fist angrily, "Zhengyang True Immortal is so unfair! Why announce it to the whole island? I got the inheritance, shouldn’t that mean I win?"
"The True Immortal must have his reasons for doing this. After all, whoever leaves the island with the inheritance is the ultimate winner, and that’s the rule that was set from the beginning." Si Han took out a pill, consumed it, and used every moment to adjust her breathing.
"It’s all because of that Dragon Maiden from Beiao Continent! There are no more dragons in the world, she’s just flaunting herself! If not for her, we would have torn the talisman and left the island long ago! Now both our teleportation talismans are destroyed, and we were chased to an unfamiliar place!"
Zixun pouted angrily while cautiously holding her Qiankun Bag. After confirming that it was still there, her heart settled a little.
Si Han tightened her pink fist as she recalled the moment when that cold and powerful beautiful woman froze her and her senior sister’s teleportation talismans, making her body tremble with anger:
"Senior Sister, we should just remember this grudge. Now that we have no teleportation talismans, our priority is to find allies and borrow a talisman from them to get you off the island."
"Sigh... haven’t you realized after staying here for so many days, the most dangerous thing on this island is people! In this situation, the chances of meeting someone with ill intentions are much higher than those willing to help us."
Zixun felt that the inheritance was like a hot potato, but she couldn’t bring herself to throw it away.
Suddenly, a figure of a black-clothed boy flashed in Si Han’s mind. She furrowed her pretty brows and muttered to herself:
"As long as we find him... we can definitely leave the island!"
Zixun had no idea what her junior sister was mumbling about. She got up, resolutely clenched her fist, and said:
"Master taught us not to rely on others. Instead of begging for a teleportation talisman, we should just follow this path to the coast. If they were able to swim to the island, we can certainly swim back across the sea!"
This statement awakened Si Han. She thought her senior sister had lost her mind due to the danger, only to realize that her sister had been as toughened by this struggle for inheritance as she had. Her sister had brought her here with the intention of heading to the shore!
"Yes! Let’s go!" Si Han looked towards the visible coastline and was reinvigorated.
But at that moment, four earthen walls suddenly rose from the ground in all directions, trapping the two like a cage.
"I wonder which of you fairies is Miss Zixun?"
A deep male voice came from not far away, with several oppressive presences rapidly approaching.
The two girls’ faces paled. After a brief moment of exchanged glances, they quickly regained their composure. They were very aware that this seemingly harmless voice represented intense danger, and a faint azure Profound Qi gathered in their hands.
They were far stronger than the Third Elder imagined. Since they resolved to step onto this island with its hidden dangers, they had ceased to be the naive flowers protected in the garden by the Third Elder.
"Senior Sister! You run first, I’ll hold them back!"
Si Han waved her hands and then pushed against the earthen wall, which instantly became covered in clusters of blue bellflowers, crumbling in an instant.
A gap appeared in the cage, but Zixun hesitated as she looked at the unfamiliar cultivators standing proudly on the treetops.
Both she and her junior sister were without teleportation talismans. If she ran alone, how could her frail junior sister possibly fend off these surrounding wolves?
A projectile flew at them, and Si Han barely dodged aside, the projectile hitting a large tree and shattering it to splinters. The attack from this cultivator was merciless, aimed completely to kill.
"Are the fairies running in this direction, planning to head back to the sea?"
The bald man who had just attacked rubbed his shiny head, looking at the two beauties with a glint of excitement in his eyes.
Zixun and Si Han were on guard, recognizing that the bald feature indicated trouble.
The Third Elder had warned them of three names, repeatedly emphasizing that if they encountered these three, they must keep away. One of them was the bald man before them, the second son of the Jing Family, the largest Immortal Race family on the West Wilderness Continent—Jing Du, also the most unruly and arrogant scion of the West Wilderness Continent.
"But I advise you to give up. The seaside is off-limits..."
Jing Du licked his lips, but there was a hint of unease in his eyes.
He had been roaming the coast since he arrived on the island, punishing the cowards who attempted to escape and recruiting them as his followers. He had no interest in the inheritance, knowing his family had sent more than one person to find it. His sole purpose on the island was for pleasure.
However, the terrifying pollution he witnessed not long ago crawling up the shore had prompted him to prepare to tear his talisman and leave the island. Just then, news of someone obtaining the inheritance was broadcast, and he deduced that the person surely didn’t have a teleportation talisman and would head to the coast. With a gambler’s mindset, he ventured inland and unexpectedly hit the jackpot.
Zixun looked at Jing Du’s sinister face, remembering her Master’s instructions for their journey. Her hand clenched in anger, veins popping.
Even in these dire times when everyone seemed to be their enemy, neither she nor her junior sister ever considered harming anyone. Whether it was finding a trustworthy ally to borrow a teleportation talisman or swimming off the island, both methods were dangerous and had low chances of success.
Now the circumstances are pushing her to take another path—
She has to kill these enemies and then steal their Teleportation Talismans!
...
In the forest, two dark figures were racing swiftly.
The message that echoed throughout the entire island heightened the tension in You Su and Ji Xueruo, even dispelling the playful banter between them after reconciling.
They quickly deduced the reason behind it; logically, if the inheritance had truly been obtained, this trial should be over. Therefore, Zixun must be unable to leave the island temporarily for some reason.
Both were not in peak condition, but eager to join the inheritance struggle, they couldn’t afford any distractions.
"Are you sure your senior sister is willing to share the spiritual light with you?" Ji Xueruo’s gaze, as beautiful as a painting, held a hint of skepticism as she looked at You Su.
"She is also from Bihua Pavilion, one of your allies; she can be trusted. My master is on good terms with Mr. Bihua, and Lingruo also has a good relationship with him. If Zixun can get the spiritual light for Mr. Bihua, it will be beneficial for both you and me."
You Su explained calmly to Ji Xueruo, unconsciously keeping his relationship with them clear and distinct.
"Therefore, we must find her as soon as possible, protect her, and get her out of here."
Ji Xueruo nodded secretly. To her, without even one Void Realm elder in the family, the Celestial Awakening Spiritual Light would have little effect, merely serving as a tribute to the Great Demon clans to gain benefits for the Snake Race.
However, obtaining the spiritual light will inevitably make one a target. Ji Xueruo understands better than anyone the adage "a man without sin is still guilty of carrying a beautiful jade." The Snake Race must withstand the heavy pressure behind this bounty. So, rather than obtaining the spiritual light herself, having an ally acquire it and enjoy its blessings is undoubtedly the best outcome for her and the Snake Race.
"Can this fairy, who grew up in comfort, protect herself?" Ji Xueruo always looked down on female cultivators who had formidable cultivation but were powerless in practical battle.
"All we can do is trust her," You Su said confidently.
"But this island is so vast, how will we find her?" Ji Xueruo was also feeling lost at this thought.
"Here, the long-distance voice transmission technique is blocked. To let her know we are also searching for her, we must find someone with a loud voice."
You Su stopped and sniffed the air, picking up a faintly sweet scent.
"Loud voice?"
Ji Xueruo also paused and finally understood why You Su had guided her back to the Fire Armadillo Cave from the start.
She followed You Su’s gaze and saw devastation before her.
Countless cultivator corpses were scattered all over the ground, hardly any intact. The crimson blood had soaked the ground into a damp black, and the smell of death hung in the air.
Ji Xueruo slowly stepped forward, examining their faces, among them were two familiar demon cultivators she had just met the previous day.
A heavy sorrow arose in the young girl’s heart—these humans and demons did not have to end in mutual destruction. Only through You Su’s explanation did she learn of Huo Ranhua’s great sins.
Yet, there was no time for her to mourn her compatriots, as she continued onward, searching for the possibly surviving Ao Yunlie. With his Lion’s Roar Skill, he undoubtedly had the loudest voice on the island.
You Su, however, held her back, softly saying, "No need to search, I have a way."
Ji Xueruo looked at him curiously, watching as You Su turned his head in one direction and shouted:
"Come out!"
From the scorched forest, a figure staggered out—blackened all over, covered in wounds—it was none other than Qu Zhaixing, whom You Su had previously taken as a subordinate.
Ji Xueruo braced herself with a full sense of hostility, watching as Qu Zhaixing wobbled and then fell to his knees before You Su with a thud.
"Explain to me why so many have died, despite your efforts!" You Su asked in a cold voice.
Terrified, Qu Zhaixing frantically kowtowed and confessed:
"Please, calm down, my lord! I tried my best to restrain them... but they’d already become dead set on killing each other, and at that point, truth no longer mattered!"
Hearing this, You Su was silent for a moment; he knew these words were true but felt even more helpless.
Ji Xueruo raised an eyebrow, guessing that Qu Zhaixing’s current state was probably a result of You Su’s Power of the True God.
"Is Ao Yunlie still alive?" You Su asked coldly.
Qu Zhaixing shook his head while kneeling.
You Su’s brows furrowed deeply; although he had anticipated the outcome, he found it hard to accept Ao Yunlie’s death:
"Has anyone else survived?"
Qu Zhaixing nodded eagerly, saying, "Many fled or died; quite a few were eaten by the Fire Armadillo. I barely managed to save Ao Yu... I figured my lord would want to save Ao Yunlie, but he had already used a Forbidden Technique and was beyond saving, so I managed to save his brother..."
"Ao Yu?" Hope rekindled in You Su’s heart.
"Yes, though Ao Yu... is not in good shape," Qu Zhaixing turned back worriedly towards a direction.
