Fairy, Don't Be Afraid, I Am Blind
Chapter 670 - 317: Huo Ranhua’s Request
After confirming participation in this operation, You Su did not return with Ji Xueruo to the previous cave they had stayed in.
After all, the behavior pattern of the Fire Armadillo was only a hypothesis. No one could guarantee what reaction it would have. Therefore, to be safe, it was best to stay by the edge of the pit and be ready at any moment.
Among the forty-three cultivators stationed here, they hailed from all corners of the land, each presenting their invitation to prove they were not outsiders. Those outsiders seeking ’prey’ wouldn’t dare challenge such a large group.
Among the forty-three, there were also three cultivators from the Profound Sky Sect, all with cultivation at the Condensed Water Upper Realm. Furthermore, all three were True Disciples. You Su had met them during the pre-battle mobilization, but unfortunately, Zixun and Si Han were not among them.
Although You Su was not familiar with these three, under Ji Xueruo’s strong insistence, he chose to temporarily separate from Ji Xueruo to avoid suspicion and sat with these three disciples of the Profound Sky Sect, while Ji Xueruo stayed in Ao Yunlie’s camp.
However, You Su was like having a wandering mind with his body in one camp and his heart in another, frequently glancing over at Ji Xueruo’s side, even though he couldn’t see anything. Ji Xueruo’s reluctance to appear too close to him in front of so many people was understandable, as it avoided many unnecessary troubles and rumors.
You Su absentmindedly talked with the three fellow sect members, learning that one was a talisman cultivator under the Second Elder, another a tool cultivator under the Sixth Elder, and the last one, who was more reserved and less familiar with You Su, was a book cultivator under the Tenth Elder.
At that moment, as if sensing something approaching, their expressions suddenly turned grave.
They saw three cultivators dressed in expensive yellowish robes embroidered with pale golden patterns, resembling the veins of the earth, walking slowly towards them.
The leader stood tall and carried a remarkable demeanor. Most notably, his eyebrows were yellow, appearing nonexistent under the sunlight. Each step he took seemed to make the dust at his feet rise like smoke, as if welcoming his arrival.
Curiously, his objective didn’t seem to be the four Profound Sky Sect members resting around. He cast a scrutinizing glance at them as he walked, or more precisely, at the indifferent You Su.
But You Su was busy fiddling with the foxtail grass beside him, not sparing him a glance.
"Ming Dao, that coward, didn’t even dare draw his sword in the end and was eaten by the rats, his death not worth pitying. Unfortunately, mediocrities like Ming Dao are in the minority. Mr. You, you’d better not get too carried away."
The leader withdrew his gaze, seemingly offering kind advice, but even the three Profound Sky Sect disciples could tell he was belittling You Su’s defeat of Ming Dao and seemed somewhat provocative.
Ao Yunlie had previously recounted the battle of that night to everyone fairly. Although Ming Dao indeed faced a certain death situation in the end and didn’t draw his sword, it didn’t mean he could have blocked You Su’s overpowering Sword Intent if he had.
After all, no one knew if he gave up because he feared You Su’s sword or the Fire Armadillo’s bloodthirsty mouth, or perhaps both...
"Thank you, Mr. Xie, for the reminder, but you overthink. I am not getting carried away, I am just..."
You Su casually plucked the foxtail grass and put it in his mouth, finally looking up at the unexpected visitors with a refreshing smile:
"Simply arrogant."
The two men behind the leader immediately showed displeasure, yet the leader laughed. He took a deep look into You Su’s eyes:
"If it’s innate, then it’s indeed unchangeable. It was my mistake to accuse Mr. You."
With these words, he strode away.
"No worries, I don’t blame you," You Su said softly to his retreating figure.
Once he was gone, a Profound Sky Sect disciple mumbled, "Why is this little Saint Heir showing off..."
You Su then confirmed the visitor’s identity, realizing it was the Little Saint Heir of the West Wilderness Continent’s Savage Temple, at the Realm of Perfect Water Condensation.
In comparison, the status of the Savage Temple in the West Wilderness is akin to the Profound Sky Sect in the Zhongyuan Continent. The Little Saint Heir is recognized as the leader among the younger generation within the sect. However, above him is a Great Saint of the Feather Transformation Realm, hence he is called the Little Saint Heir.
It’s worth mentioning that the Profound Sky Sect never designates a Saint Son or Saint Daughter as titles, because it’s a comprehensive sect where multiple paths coexist, and numerous geniuses thrive, making it impossible to select a single disciple to represent all. Yet, Fairy Wangshu, through her prowess, forced others to refer to her as the Saint Daughter of the Profound Sky Sect.
"If Mr. Fu or Mr. Duanmu were here, would he dare provoke us like this? So many places to go and yet he came to show off right in front of us?"
Another disciple chimed in agreement. Even though they were True Disciples, except for Lotus Peak, the number of True Disciples on other peaks was generally an even number, with Bihua Peak having eleven, the second fewest. This is related to the Third Elder only accepting beautiful female disciples, and the tasks of spirit plant cultivation being assigned to outer disciples, making the Third Elder unwilling to take in too many True Disciples.
Therefore, they are true geniuses, though not the cream of the crop. Even if they have pride, they also know they can’t be on equal footing with the Little Saint Heir.
Brother Fu they mentioned is Fu Heng, their personal senior brother, recognized by the Second Elder as the foremost in talisman arts below Feather Transformation. It’s said that Fu Heng could have long since broken through to Feather Transformation but has been immersed in talisman arts with little intention to cultivate, yet by a twist of fate, had a chance to enter the island; as for Duanmu Jin, the younger brother, he is a favored disciple of the Ninth Elder, Venerable Rongshan, and has established the young generation’s blade skills with Rongshan Peak of the Profound Sky Sect as supreme. These two are also the most dazzling among the disciples selected by the Profound Sky Sect, enough to rival the Little Saint Heir’s prestige.
