Fairy, Don't Be Afraid, I Am Blind
Chapter 650 - 309: Gu Cultivation (Part 2)
"It seems what the Chief Elder mentioned in his letter is indeed true, this Celestial Awakening Island is truly a place of opportunities everywhere."
As the place where the True Immortal Zhengyang broke through his realm, Celestial Awakening Island is indeed an overseas bountiful immortal island.
He gathered the 360 cultivators here, and it’s only natural that the 359 who were not the successors would not be left without any reward.
The island houses various rare treasures that have either become extinct or have never appeared in the Five Continents. Every entrant to the island can take these treasures as they wish. This is the gift True Immortal Zhengyang grants to those who enter the island.
Suddenly, You Su sensed something strange and immediately drew a small section of his sword, poised for action.
Rustling sounds of footsteps on the grass were heard. You Su frowned slightly. The footsteps weren’t loud, but they left no hidden traces, indicating the newcomer’s straightforwardness, seemingly not bearing any malice.
"This fellow taoist, the... beside you, is that Floating Light Grass?"
The person had an average appearance, slightly dark-skinned, and his stature wasn’t tall. He was dressed in an earth-yellow Taoist robe, looking quite ordinary.
He deliberately stopped five meters away from You Su to maintain a relatively safe distance.
However, You Su noticed the newcomer’s firm steps, each one taken with stability, indicating he was clearly someone with solid foundations, leading You Su to suspect that he was at least at the Condensed Water Upper Realm.
"Yes."
You Su replied concisely and forcefully, for this was the first person he had encountered after entering the island, and he did not wish to appear too distant.
"It’s actually true!"
The person was very excited and was about to take a step forward, but You Su warily drew his sword from the sheath.
The person glimpsed the dark glow on the sword and hurriedly stopped in good faith, "No need to be nervous, fellow taoist. I am Huang Xi of the Yellow Sand Sect from the West Wilderness Continent, a disciple of an orthodox sect, with no ill intentions toward you."
He said this while taking out a light yellow token from his chest, inscribed with the characters ’Yellow Sand.’
Before coming here, You Su had of course been briefed by the Third Elder about the various forces of the Five Continents. He knew that the Yellow Sand Sect was a second-rate sect at the end of the spectrum in the West Wilderness Continent. However, he was only familiar with a few notable names and had never heard of Huang Xi.
"You want to take the grass?" You Su asked.
Huang Xi nodded repeatedly, his eyes full of eagerness, "This Floating Light Grass is extremely useful for my third junior brother. If you have taken a liking to it, could you spare me a plant? I can trade other treasures for it, and you won’t suffer any loss."
As he spoke, he made a gesture to open the large burlap sack he was carrying on his back.
"No need, I have already taken what I need. You may take it if you wish."
Looking at the man’s simple appearance, having to carry a burlap sack to enter the secret realm without even a storage magical treasure, You Su didn’t want to exploit someone so poor. He thus took several steps back to leave the patch of Floating Light Grass.
Huang Xi repeatedly expressed his gratitude, bending over as he approached and picked two stems of Floating Light Grass with great respect.
You Su, curious, asked, "I told you this is ownerless. Since it is useful to you, why not take it all?"
"One is enough for my Third Junior Brother, taking more would be wasteful."
Huang Xi looked up at You Su, with his luxuriously restrained attire and the mysterious magical artifact that blocked his face, and said humbly,
"Judging from your demeanor and attire, fellow taoist must be from the Zhongyuan Continent? Our West Wilderness Continent carries the word ’wilderness,’ incomparable to the vastness and richness of the Zhongyuan Continent, so the people of the West Wilderness cherish resources deeply. If there are three fruits on a tree, we would only pick two, never taking all three."
Thinking this person’s simplicity was rather touching, You Su asked again:
"Since one is sufficient, why did you pick two?"
"To be honest, I do have some personal motives. One is for my third junior brother’s alchemy, and the other is to sell for some money to support the sect."
Floating Light Grass is a priceless treasure outside, certainly fetching a good price.
You Su, unconvinced, asked out of curiosity, "Doesn’t your Yellow Sand Sect need a disciple to support it?"
"Our sect is in the west of the West Wilderness Continent, the most desolate area, barely self-sufficient. For me to be spotted by True Immortal Zhengyang, the sect truly made a lot of efforts to send me here to the Celestial Awakening Island on time. I am grateful to my sect and should seize this opportunity to do something for it," Huang Xi said, scratching his head, his tone filled with guilt.
You Su pressed his lips together, silently acknowledging that cultivators indeed have various hardships, and sheathed his half-drawn sword:
"Since this island can nurture Floating Light Grass, this certainly isn’t the only patch, take it all, it wouldn’t count as plundering."
Fellow taoist, I appreciate the gesture, but two stems are enough, let’s leave the rest for others," Huang Xi opened his half-full burlap sack, carefully wrapping and placing the two stems of Floating Light Grass inside. He then awkwardly said, "Actually, I have also harvested quite a few other treasures, enough to ensure a prosperous life for my sect."
"Your sect will be proud of you," You Su said lightly.
Huang Xi was the first foreign cultivator from outside the Zhongyuan Continent that You Su connected with, apart from his junior sister Xueruo. Despite Huang Xi’s realm being much higher, he was polite in his speech and displayed an earnest simplicity different from Zhongyuan Continent cultivators, rendering You Su quite fond of him, leading to a sincere compliment.
In response, Huang Xi was embarrassed, repeatedly waving his hands, "No, no, I fear this journey may actually disappoint my sect."
"They went through great trouble to send you, naturally hoping you can obtain the final inheritance."
"Fellow taoist, don’t ridicule me. I never even considered that far-off inheritance. What’s in this sack is the real opportunity," Huang Xi said, contently patting the burlap sack on his back.
