Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1920 - 1915: Conductor

Chapter 1920: Chapter 1915: Conductor

"How bright is it?"

The continuous changes were overwhelming, even without any sound effects.

A ring of swirling flames lifted Lord Stoss, helping him evade the entangling ropes. Meanwhile, Fu Qian didn’t rush to take defensive actions but suddenly turned his head to ask Su Gao.

"Eleven o’clock."

The difference became apparent once more. Su Gao, who hadn’t hurried to react, not only immediately realized that Fu Qian was confirming the change in brightness with her but also chose Professor Ah Kai’s revised way of describing it.

"Can you sense any changes?"

Not just simply responding, in the next moment, she instantly counter-questioned.

"No."

Fu Qian answered just as succinctly, as naturally as someone who had memorized the answers in advance.

"Neither can I."

Su Gao sighed softly at this.

"...me neither."

The efficiency of their conversation was impressive, and Old Master Stoss, observing from the sidelines, finally joined in the discussion.

Thankfully, he could somewhat keep up with the train of thought. What Demigod Su and Professor Fu were confirming was whether, with all this commotion caused by the ship, they could sense any change in their predicament.

Though the answer seemed rather bleak.

Not just those two, even Stoss, being in the Second Phase, evidently couldn’t find any opportunity to exploit in this rapidly deteriorating situation.

And if one followed the earlier deductions, the brightness represented the degree of synchronization with the ship’s distortion, meaning there wasn’t much room left to maneuver.

This ship was indeed furious.

"Be careful not to get entangled by those ropes; I’ll continue."

At this moment, the decisiveness of Lord Stoss was on full display once again.

Speaking casually while reminding them, he was evidently determined to go all out.

There was no turning back; the only option was to press harder, apply maximum pressure.

And as he made the decision, in his hand, another round of a ’small sun’ was already forming.

"How about now?"

Yet the next moment, what happened beside him nearly disrupted his cultivation heart, causing him to act prematurely.

Appearing to ignore the reminder, Consultant Fu Qian seemed lost in thought, as he grabbed a nearby waving rope, continuing to ask Su Gao.

...

There’s no doubt those ropes are quite suspicious.

As objects connecting and binding multiple human amber bodies, it was easy to think that touching them would further link them to the ship, likely intensifying the distortion effects.

Even Stoss intuitively perceived this and had given his previous warning, yet this guy...

"Your connection with this ship has indeed strengthened somewhat, but I still can’t feel more."

The efficient conversation continued amidst confusion.

His employer, Su Gao, appeared to understand the purpose behind Professor Fu’s actions—to actively establish a connection with the ship and introduce more variables to her perception.

It was indeed a bold use of negative effects...though the results still seemed unsatisfactory.

"And how about this?"

Unfazed by this outcome, Fu Qian showed no sign of negative emotion. He didn’t attempt to let go of the rope but instead reached out with his free hand to grasp Su Gao’s also free hand.

...

Without making a sound or resisting, Su Gao stood there like a statue.

Even though not an involved party, Lord Stoss wouldn’t misunderstand this sudden change.

After trying to establish a connection with the ship himself to help Su Gao find an opportunity to no avail, this consultant took it a step further, using physical contact to turn himself into a buffering medium, enhancing Su Gao’s connection with the ship.

Fully understanding this, she almost immediately entered a state of heightened perception.

This choice had to be said, whilst deviating from his own plans and rather unrestrainedly bold, still showed a line of thinking.

In fact, based on this idea, if it still didn’t work, the next step would be for Su Gao to make direct contact, and if that still failed...

The ’small sun’ in Stoss’s hand didn’t extinguish, remaining quietly in place, ready to be unleashed for maximum impact if things didn’t improve after successive increases—

"Found it."

However, it seemed this step wasn’t needed after all; the voice of Su Gao came, finally with some harvest.

Her gaze suddenly focused, lifting her hand and thrusting out her sword, targeting the wooden planks beneath them, still closed until just now, while her other hand remained steadfastly gripping.

Sizzle—

The sword, though not overly powerful, still shattered the wooden plank.

Simultaneously, appearing below wasn’t the previously seen swirling nothingness but the familiar, rough cabin interior.

What they saw before wasn’t an illusion; Su Gao’s thrust pierced through more than just the plank, but also some kind of spatial-temporal barrier.

Just as she had done when initially entering the doorway.

Though this time, she didn’t open a path to outside the ship but further downwards.

...

"Shall we go?"

Seeing such a sight, Fu Qian finally turned to Lord Stoss with relief, letting go of his hand as he confirmed.

"Need any help?"

The ’small sun’ in the old man’s hand quietly vanished, yet his gaze lingered on Fu Qian’s other hand.

Letting this side go didn’t seem so easy.

The coiling coarse hemp rope appeared alive, entwining there, with its end seemingly becoming real flesh, the strands burrowing into the hand.

"No need."

The subject remained calm, shaking his head to indicate it wasn’t necessary to trouble, then Fu Qian simply wrenched off the whole hand and discarded it.

Indeed quite sinister, prolonged contact would likely affect his core self, though the current extent was still far from enough.

"Alright."

In face of this truly calm and decisive scene, plus the preceding series of performances, Stoss suddenly seemed to understand why, despite Su Zhiyan’s style, he insisted on hiring this action consultant.

Without further words, the next moment he was cautiously evading the ropes, making him the first to jump down.

Well done.

Exchanging a glance with Su Gao, signaling praise with his eyes, Fu Qian seamlessly followed, leaving her to secure the rear.

"They’re still here."

The third layer was indeed what they had visited before, and almost upon touchdown, the old man confirmed an encouraging situation and dashed toward a corner of the cabin.

"Careful!"

But before reaching, a voice came forth first, belonging to Ah Kai, sounding extremely dire.

Indeed, adhering faithfully to the instruction, two people stationed there leaped back together following the shout.

The scene unveiled as the two moved aside was quickly turning bizarre—

Not only one amber body, like sheaves of wheat, were being cut down in unison.

Responsible for all this was a rust-covered, endlessly rotating long-handled scythe centered on its position.

Even as it rotated, the handle continued to extend.
