Chapter 564: Chapter 554: Fighting Explosions with Violence

But that wasn’t all. The force behind the punch was immense! Instead of diminishing, the impact only grew stronger. The fist remained pressed against his face, sending his body hurtling toward the opposite wall. All the while, his head was dragged along the ground! In a flash, a long, narrow trench—the exact width of his body—was carved from one side of the alley to the foot of the opposite wall!

BOOM!!

With a final roar, the burst of Primordial Power abruptly vanished, replaced by the faint sound of hands being dusted off. Mu Chen then emerged from the blasted-open mouth of the alley, hands clasped behind his back. "When a dog refuses to listen," he said coldly, "you beat it until it does."

As he spoke, Mu Chen turned his gaze back to the two girls and asked, "How long have you two been standing here?"

"Th-Three hours." The one who spoke this time wasn’t the timid girl, but her sister, who had been furious just moments before.

The sight of Mu Chen emerging didn’t shock the two sisters nearly as much as it shocked the White Camp disciples standing at the mouth of the alley. Mu Junwu had already arrived, but she and Chu Aoqing had tactfully chosen to remain outside, observing the events unfold with no intention of interfering. They knew Mu Chen had his own way of doing things, and their place was to stand behind him and offer their silent support.

Hearing they had been standing for three hours, Mu Chen sneered at the two girls. "Come with me. Today, I’m going to see for myself just how tough these White Camp people really are."

As he spoke, without giving the two girls a chance to protest, he grabbed their hands and unceremoniously dragged them to the registration clerk. Mimicking the earlier behavior of the White Camp disciples, he shoved the person at the front of the line to the back, took his place, and then pulled the two girls to stand before him. "Registration," he said flatly.

The registration clerk finally snapped out of it. However, instead of caring who was now at the front, she simply put on a professional smile and asked, "Codename."

"Yun... Yun Yue."

The fiery-tempered girl actually stammered out the two words. After speaking, she stepped aside to wait for her sister.

The timid girl, also apprehensive, stated her own codename. In contrast to her sister’s, hers was Yueyun. After registering, she joined her sister, her eyes fixed on Mu Chen with a strange light in them.

Mu Chen didn’t notice their stares, his attention focused entirely on the clerk before him. As he looked, he was a bit taken aback. The registration clerk was a woman. Noticing his gaze, she offered a friendly smile and said, "Codename."

Mu Chen didn’t state his codename immediately. Instead, he asked, "Don’t you need to line up to register here?"

The woman heard this and replied kindly, "Of course, you need to line up. Otherwise, it would get very chaotic here."

Mu Chen asked irritably, "Then why did you let them cut in line?"

The clerk hummed in affirmation and nodded. "Oh, it’s allowed. As long as you’re not disorderly and come up one by one to register, I don’t care if you line up standing, sitting, or lying down. As for cutting in line, that’s even less of a concern. After all, whether you cut or not, the total number of people I have to register remains the same."

Mu Chen was left completely speechless. Not bothering to argue further, he said directly, "Codename: Calamity."

"’Calamity?’ That’s a codename I’ve never seen before. You must be a newcomer. As the clerk, let me give you a little warning: the commotion from that fight was awfully loud. I’m afraid it might have attracted the attention of an Elder."

But Mu Chen just waved a hand dismissively and smiled. "I don’t care."

At this, the clerk gave Mu Chen a surprised look, then firmly committed the codename ’Calamity’ to memory. She had a feeling this ’Calamity’ fellow would be anything but ordinary.

Just then, however, the other two from the group of three snapped to their senses and roared, "You bastard! How dare you sneak attack our leader! He attacked first! We can all bear witness!"

The shout was so loud it snapped all the dazed White Camp disciples out of their stupor.

"Fuck! Since when did someone from the Black Camp dare to come here and shit all over us in the White Camp?"

"Fuck him up! Damn it! Don’t forget, we all have the right to legitimate self-defense now. A mere newcomer who doesn’t even know his own place?"

"Get him! Beat the shit out of him! He dared to cut my fucking line! Does he have a death wish?!"

A chorus of roars instantly echoed from the alley. Yueyun and Yun Yue watched in terror as a dozen men before them erupted with Primordial Power, and the two sisters instinctively took a small step back. But when they looked at Mu Chen, they saw he was standing perfectly still, without releasing even a shred of his own Primordial Power.

"What do you all think you’re doing?! Are you trying to get kicked out of the arena?!"

Suddenly, just as the dozen or so White Camp disciples were about to attack as one, an authoritative voice descended from the heavens. It was followed by an immense pressure that suddenly appeared, suppressing all the Primordial Power they had released and forcing it back into their bodies.

Mu Chen was somewhat surprised by the power of the voice’s owner. ’This must be the Elder the clerk mentioned,’ he thought. However, his expression showed no panic, but rather a hint of displeasure. ’Why? Someone this powerful should have noticed the abnormal situation between the Black and White Camps long ago. To have done nothing... he’s clearly not one of the good guys.’

"Hm?"

The moment the voice faded, a figure appeared out of thin air. Mu Chen focused his gaze and saw that the man had extremely elegant, long, and incredibly golden hair. He didn’t look as old as his voice sounded; at first glance, he seemed more like a middle-aged man.

The middle-aged man first glanced at Mu Chen with a puzzled expression, then addressed everyone present. "Do you know the consequences of fighting in the arena?"

The two White Camp disciples whose leader had been beaten nodded repeatedly. "Elder Lei, we know. That’s why we’ve been strictly adhering to the arena’s rules and haven’t laid a hand on anyone. But him!"

Pointing at Mu Chen, one of them shouted, "But he attacked first! He grievously wounded our leader, who is now so stuck in that wall we can’t even pry him out! Everyone here can testify to that."

The golden-haired man addressed as Elder Lei fixed Mu Chen with a sharp gaze. "Is what they say true?"

To everyone’s surprise, Mu Chen simply gave a calm nod. "Yes," he said placidly. "That is what happened."

"Oh?" The golden-haired man looked at Mu Chen in surprise, then couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh. "You’re certainly decisive in your confession. But do you know the consequences?"

Mu Chen nodded again. "A penalty of ten days’ worth of Cultivation Resources, followed by these people’s right to ’legitimate self-defense’."

"And you still did it, knowing that!" the golden-haired man said, exasperated.

Mu Chen spread his hands and shrugged. "I don’t care. It’s just ten days of Cultivation Resources. As for their ’legitimate self-defense’... heh, they’re not even worth my notice."

In that instant, Mu Chen swept his gaze over the dozen or so men with the air of a sovereign. A wave of arrogant temperament erupted from him, so potent that even the golden-haired man was visibly moved.

"Damn it! This kid’s too arrogant! Elder Lei! Even though you’re an Elder, you can’t interfere with our right to legitimate self-defense!"

"That’s right! I’m going to teach him a proper lesson today!"

Mu Chen remained completely unfazed. Seeing this, Elder Lei shook his head and said, "It’s true I cannot interfere with your right to legitimate self-defense. However, if any of you dare to strike a killing blow, don’t blame me for being merciless. Kid, it’s better to keep a low profile. Consider today a hard-learned lesson. But don’t worry, I quite like your personality. If your life is in danger, this old man will save you."

Mu Chen smiled faintly. "Kindness is mistaken for weakness. I would prefer to keep a low profile, but some people insist on making me stand out. As for your kind offer, I appreciate the thought. But if anyone’s going to need saving, it will be them."

At this, Mu Chen suddenly asked in a loud voice, "Elder Lei, if I beat all of them, will my punishment increase?"

Hearing this, Elder Lei rolled his eyes. ’As if you could,’ he thought. But he still answered aloud, "It will! There are nineteen people here. If you beat all of them, you will be punished with the loss of two hundred days’ worth of Cultivation Resources... You should consider the consequences..."

But before he could finish listing the consequences, Mu Chen’s figure abruptly vanished. Without a single fluctuation of Primordial Power, without releasing a single wisp of energy, he simply disappeared from before the eyes of Elder Lei and everyone else.

The next instant, an immense surge of Primordial Power erupted, then vanished just as quickly. In that brief moment, a White Camp disciple was sent flying backward out of the alley like a kite with a snapped string. He violently coughed up a spray of blood and landed with a crash in the White Camp’s seating area.

However, this was only the beginning. The White Camp disciples, seeing this, were both shocked and enraged. It was a textbook ambush. Huge Primordial Energy Vortexes erupted one after another in the narrow alley, and brilliantly colored Martial Rings flashed into existence, creating an incredibly impressive spectacle!

But when they tried to use their Primordial Power to lock onto Mu Chen’s position, they were stunned to find that he wasn’t releasing any Primordial Power at all. His figure was too elusive; for a moment, no one could even track his movements.

But just then, the immense Primordial Power surged once more, then vanished again. Accompanied by a scream, another White Camp disciple was sent flying backward, spewing blood!

In less than three seconds, the group of more than a dozen huddled White Camp disciples had inexplicably lost two of their number without even realizing what had happened.

Before they had a moment to process their confusion, Mu Chen’s figure flickered in and out of sight within the crowd, accompanied by a chorus of wretched screams. One by one, the White Camp disciples fell, sent flying by a series of rhythmic thuds into the White Camp’s rest area, where they would let out a short whimper or two before passing out.

In just ten seconds, the once-crowded alley now held only five people: the golden-haired Elder Lei, his eyes bulging and his expression frozen in disbelief; the dazed Yun Yue and Yueyun sisters, staring blankly; the registration clerk, her jaw hanging open; and the calm Mu Chen, standing right where he started, dusting off his hands...
