Chapter 140: The Seed of Valor

Chapter 140: Chapter 140: The Seed of Valor

Chapter 140: The Seed of Valor

The deep, cosmic blue light of the ancient Magic Core illuminated the luxurious guest suite. The sheer density of the spatial energy radiating from the jagged crystal made the air feel incredibly thick.

Draven Mordis stood in the center of the velvet carpet. He did not immediately sit down to absorb the artifact. He looked at the nine young warriors standing around him. They were no longer just Vanguard Academy students. They were his elite strike team. They were the future rulers of this broken world.

"Listen to me carefully," Draven commanded. His Warlord aura filled the room, forcing absolute attention.

"Tomorrow morning, Cassian Stillbane will drop the city defenses. The Church of the Eternal Eclipse will flood the streets. We are not just going to assassinate the Fifth Elder. We are going to obliterate his entire army."

Draven turned to the heavy frontline fighters.

"Aegon, Bram," Draven addressed them sharply.

"When the chaos starts, you two will drop directly into the main warzone. You will form an impenetrable wall. Do not let a single Cultist reach the civilian evacuation zones."

"Understood, Captain," Aegon nodded firmly, gripping his Blood Fire Spear.

"Reina," Draven continued, looking at the ice wielder.

"You are our primary crowd control. Use your High-density Ice Core Axe to completely freeze the main avenues. Turn the streets into a glacier. Strip the Cultists of their mobility."

Reina stepped forward, her eyes filled with cold determination.

"They will not take a single step forward," Reina promised.

"Lucien," Draven ordered.

"You are the executioner. Dart through Reina’s frozen zones. Target their lieutenants and spellcasters. Sever their chain of command before they can organize a counterattack."

"Consider them already dead," Lucien smirked, blue lightning sparking lightly across his fingers.

Draven turned his gaze to the ranged specialists standing near the balcony window.

"Estella, Natalie," Draven pointed upward.

"You two will take the high ground. Find the tallest structural pillar overlooking the battlefield. I want you to rain absolute hell upon them. Stardust beams and sensory arrows. Act as our orbital artillery."

Estella tightened her grip on her transforming staff. The future Star of Ruin looked ready to unleash her terrifying cosmic magic for the sake of humanity. Natalie simply tapped her bow in silent agreement.

"Cole, Lyra," Draven addressed the two mechanics.

"The Cult will try to flank Aegon and Bram through the narrow industrial alleyways. Lock those routes down. Set up your automated turrets, lay your explosive traps, and blow any flanking units to pieces."

Cole slammed his mechanical gauntlets together.

"They are going to walk right into a meat grinder," Cole grinned fiercely.

"Nyx," Draven finally turned to the shadow assassin.

"The Cult employs highly trained stealth operatives. They will be hiding in the dark, waiting to strike our backlines. Unleash the Phantom Queen. Flood the shadows with your monsters and devour their assassins whole."

Nyx’s eyes flashed pure white beneath her mask.

"The dark belongs to me," Nyx whispered chillingly.

"Umm... Don’t say that... Anyways, what about the Fifth Elder?" Aegon asked carefully.

"I will handle the Fifth Elder," Draven stated with conviction.

Draven sat down perfectly cross-legged on the floor. He reached into his deep coat pocket and pulled out Astraxion. The Level 30 baby void dragon blinked its glowing neon purple eyes.

"Sit right there," Draven ordered the hatchling, placing the tiny dragon near his knee.

"I am about to release a massive amount of volatile spatial energy. Eat every single drop of it. Do not let it go to waste."

Astraxion chirped happily. The void dragon curled up on the carpet, eager for the ultimate feast.

Draven looked at his squad one last time.

"Back away to the walls," Draven instructed.

"Bram, get your shield ready. This is going to be violent."

The squad immediately retreated to the far edges of the expansive suite. Bram stepped in front of the others, firmly planting his boots into the floor.

Draven closed his eyes. He placed both of his hands directly onto the jagged, pulsing cosmic crystal. He forcefully pulled the interdimensional mana directly into his own core.

VWOOSH!

A blinding column of blue light erupted from the crystal, swallowing Draven completely. The raw, unadulterated cosmic energy flooded into his veins like liquid fire. It was not just an evolutionary catalyst. It was a battery of pure, concentrated experience points.

[System Alert: High-Tier Spatial Energy Absorbed.]

[System Alert: Massive Experience Gained.]

[System Alert: Host has reached Level 99.]

[System Alert: Host has reached Level 100.]

The digital prompts flashed rapidly across his retina. But the celebration of reaching the three-digit milestone was instantly crushed by a wave of unimaginable agony.

[System Alert: Commencing Mortal Limit Breakthrough.]

CRACK.

Draven threw his head back and screamed silently. His jaw locked tight. The bones in his right arm violently splintered into a dozen pieces. The sheer density of the cosmic mana was far too heavy for a mortal human skeleton to contain.

The cosmic energy forcefully knitted the shattered bones back together, making them infinitely denser and stronger.

SNAP.

His ribs fractured simultaneously. The excruciating pain was absolute. It tore through his entire nervous system. His femur snapped. His spine cracked. His mortal body was being brutally dismantled and reassembled at the cellular level.

Thick, foul-smelling black sludge began to rapidly ooze from his pores. It was the toxic impurities hidden deep within his human genetics. The black, poisoned blood seeped through his white uniform, staining the velvet carpet beneath him.

’Damn it all!’ Draven cursed viciously in his own mind.

He was a veteran Platoon Commander. He had suffered bullet wounds and shrapnel injuries in his past life, but this was a completely different realm of torture.

’I curse the King-Level Beasts!’ Draven roared internally, using pure spite and hatred to anchor his consciousness.

’I curse the Cult! I curse the Gods of this pathetic world! I will survive this! Let my enemies feel a fraction of this agony before I send them to hell! Oh God! Stop this Pain!’

Outside the blinding pillar of blue light, the luxury suite was completely falling apart.

The Warlord’s gravitational pressure leaked violently from the breakthrough. The gravity in the room multiplied exponentially in a matter of seconds.

CRASH!

The heavy mahogany dining table splintered into firewood under the unseen weight. The massive crystal chandelier ripped free from the ceiling and shattered into a thousand pieces against the floor.

"Shields up!" Bram roared at the top of his lungs.

Bram raised his shield and activated his Titan vitality.

[System Skill Activated: Titan’s Wall.]

Aegon also slammed his heavy spear into the floor. He ignited his core to the absolute maximum.

[System Skill Activated: Blood Fire Aegis.]

A massive, dome-shaped shield of crimson fire erupted around the squad. The terrifying gravitational shockwaves slammed into the shield repeatedly. Aegon gritted his teeth, his boots sliding backward against the carpet. He was struggling just to keep his friends from being crushed against the back wall.

"Is he going to be okay?!" Reina shouted over the deafening roar of the mana storm. She looked absolutely terrified. She had never seen their invincible Captain lose control.

"Have faith in the Captain!" Bram yelled back, bracing his massive titan-stone arms against Aegon’s back to help hold the shield in place.

Estella and Lyra watched the black toxic sludge pooling around Draven’s levitating body. The sheer horror of the tribulation was deeply burned into their memories.

Right next to the screaming Draven, Astraxion was entirely unfazed. The tiny baby dragon opened his jaws wide, happily swallowing the volatile spatial shockwaves as if they were a delicious morning snack.

The agony lasted for exactly ten minutes. To Draven, it felt like an eternity in hell.

Finally, the violent snapping of his bones ceased. The thick, black impurities covering his skin were instantly incinerated by a sudden flare of pure white Warlord aura. His newly reforged, perfect mortal body rejected the filth entirely.

The blinding cosmic light slowly faded. The jagged Magic Core in his lap turned dull gray and crumbled into useless dust.

The oppressive, crushing gravity in the room vanished.

Aegon dropped his Blood Fire shield, gasping heavily for air. The squad slowly lowered their arms, staring at the center of the ruined suite.

[System Alert: Tribulation Survived.]

[System Alert: Mortal Body Reforged.]

[System Alert: Evolution Path Unlocked.]

Draven remained seated on the floor. He was covered in sweat, but his breathing was perfectly steady. The air around him seemed to warp and distort slightly, as if the physical world was bowing to his presence.

[System Alert: Seed of Valor Awakened.]

[System Skill Acquired: Absolute Horizon.]

[Domain Range: 50 Meters.]

[System Alert: SS-Rank Vector Manipulation evolved to SSS-Rank Conceptual Vector Authority]

Draven slowly opened his eyes.

His irises glowed with a terrifying, absolute authority. The 50-meter conceptual domain had settled perfectly into his soul. He could feel every single kinetic, spatial, and temporal vector existing within half a football field of his body. He was no longer just manipulating physics. He was the undisputed ruler of them.

Draven stood up. His bones did not ache. He felt incredibly light, yet he possessed the physical strength to shatter a mountain.

He walked over to the massive glass window. He looked out over the sprawling, artificial megacity of Bastion Six. The fusion lights in the artificial sky were just beginning to brighten.

The morning sun had risen.

Draven turned around and faced his awe-struck squad. He picked up his white, featureless mask from the table.

"Get your weapons," Draven ordered coldly. "It is time for war."
