Extra's Path To Demon King

Chapter 612: The Only Loser (Arc-2: End)

  • Next Chapter

With no weapon remaining, Axel fought on with his bare fists, but inch by inch, his skin and flesh all over his body were torn away by the ferocious bites of countless Void Creatures.

Black blood sprayed into the dim space as claw after claw gouged deep furrows into his exposed muscles.

One of the stronger Void Beasts surged forward through the writhing mass. It opened its massive, multi-hinged jaws wide, exposing rows of jagged, razor-sharp fangs. In one single, brutal bite, the creature clamped down on the barely standing Axel's neck and tore his head completely off his shoulders.

The decapitated body slumped, suspended for only a fraction of a second in the airless void before the horde descended upon the remaining torso. The rest of his body was completely devoured in less than a minute.

In truth, it only took that long to devour Axel's body because most of the abominations were too busy snarling and fighting violently over one another.

Each beast sought to rip out a chunk of a true living being originating from the Material World, for such flesh was the ultimate prize food these mindless creatures could ever hope to consume.

Once the last scrap of flesh was consumed and the blood in the air was licked clean, a complete and absolute silence descended upon the unchanging expanse of the False Void.

The massive swarm of Void Beasts slowly turned away, satisfied that the two preys from the material world had been utterly devoured and erased from existence.

However, deep inside the dark stomach of the massive Void Creature that had swallowed Axel's head whole, a soft flicker of light suddenly began to burn.

And then, Prime Nexus spoke. It was not a faint whisper, but a loud, divine declaration that echoed through the entire expanse of the False Void, reaching the ears of every single abomination.

The immense sound forced the thousands of beasts to halt dead in their tracks.

[The condition to activate the Assimilation trait of the Heart Devourer has been met]

[Axel Nomrad has experienced death…]

Inside the creature's dark belly, the eyelids of Axel's deformed skull snapped wide open. Both his eyes began to glow with a blinding, incandescent light inside the monster's stomach.

[Initiating assimilation of the Void attribute onto the Ancestral Demon Bloodline]

[ERROR!! ERROR!! ERROR!!]

[Attribute incompatibility detected….]

[Due to Axel Nomrad's unusual mental state, an unknown change has been detected in the assimilation process.]

[Axel Nomrad's 'Heart Devourer' ability is altering the element of 'Void']

[Warning!! We are no longer able to understand … %%^^%$^]

[Glitch!!! Flicker!!!]

[None of the databases within the Eldarion continent can decipher the process.]

[Reaching for the main Database outside of Eldarion.]

[Error!!! An unknown obstruction has been detected…]

[Temporarily shutting down all operations of Prime Nexus for a complete reload…]

The deformed skull of Axel trapped within the abomination's stomach started to glow violently. Streams of raw, unfiltered energy began oozing outward, spilling not just from the empty eye sockets but also leaking heavily through his jaw and mouth.

BANG!!!

A sudden, catastrophic explosion of pure Void Element burst outward directly from the skull. The sheer force obliterated the massive Void Beast from the inside out, scattering its black flesh into fine mist.

The surrounding swarm of Void Abominations all cried out in utter terror. They felt a profound sense of existential danger emanating from the floating, glowing skull, a threat unlike anything they had ever encountered in their entire stale existence.

The ambient Void Element existing throughout the vast False Void suddenly went wild. All of it rushed toward the floating, deformed skull, creating a colossal dark tornado.

The roaring currents of void energy forced their way inside the skull, pouring through the eyes, the nose, and the open mouth of the severed head.

At the same time, inch by inch, millimetre by millimetre, and cell by cell, the skull's physical structure was broken down and destroyed.

The bone dissolved entirely under the density of the incoming power until the only object remaining in the centre of the void was a blinding, spherical coalescence of light.

The massive swirl of Void Elements continued to be devoured by that singular point of light. Slowly, the core's dark shade began to change, shifting to a dull, whitish tone.

Even the vast waves of Void Elements swirling all around the sphere were affected, altering their fundamental colour to match its new shade, as if being permanently converted by the influence of the white radiance.

And then, all the swirling power was sucked violently inside the pulsing orb. From that dense core, cells slowly began to grow outward in midair.

Blood vessels rewove themselves through the dark, followed by dense muscle fibres, living tissues, and the complete skeletal structure of a human male body.

Internal organs grew inside his chest cavity, until eventually the entire physical figure of Axel was completely reforged from head to toe. Yet, his new figure continued to glow with a blinding white light, making his physical features completely indiscernible to the naked eye.

Amid that mysterious reconstruction process, his figure began to glitch and flicker rapidly, as if the new form he had become could no longer be registered, measured, or understood by the surrounding expanse of the False Void.

The ambient Void Element seemed to recoil in instinctual fear the very moment it touched the white radiance overflowing from Axel's body.

Another massive burst of converted energy shot outward like a massive shockwave in all directions.

The moment that white energy expanded and touched the surrounding swarm of abominations circling his floating form, every single one of them crumbled to dust without exception. Not even their ashes remained in the space, as if they had been completely deleted from the world of the Void.

Then, the radiant figure of Axel clenched his newly formed fists.

He raised his arm and smashed his fist down onto the invisible floor below with catastrophic force that caused a network of countless deep cracks to spread across a massive chunk of the obsidian ground within the False Void.

The floor shattered like brittle glass, and the broken gate to the material world was forced open.

His glowing figure began to fall through the tear, dropping alongside countless splinters of obsidian glass that were vaporising by the second upon entering the material realm's atmosphere.

As his figure fell downward like a burning meteor descending from the heavens like a raining catastrophe, his barely regained consciousness slowly began to flicker out once more.

As he drifted out of the dark, he thought back to the horrific sequence of events he had just endured, memories that felt like a distant, twisted nightmare.

It was a chain of cruel events that had foiled every single one of his initial plans, stripping away everything from him piece by piece, until a true, foundational part of his existence was no more.

In the end, his cold, calculating, and completely emotionless mind arrived at one singular, undeniable conclusion. Despite his narrowly accomplished escape and the deadly gamble on his part that had ultimately paid off, Eldora's cold words back in the Dark torture cell turned out to be more than true.

The exact moment his emotions were erased, he had already lost everything that made him who he was.

"I was the only loser… amid it all," his emotionless voice echoed one last time in his mind, right before his consciousness blacked out completely.

[Glitch!!! Glitch!!!]

[Prime Nexus has reloaded successfully]

[Connection with Axel Nomrad has been reestablished….]

[Identifying the altered element assimilated by the 'Heart Devourer' ability]

[Identification has been completed…]

After those notifications appeared, a long, heavy string of silence hung in the world, while Axel continued to fall, as if Prime Nexus itself could not bring itself to utter the next words immediately.

But... eventually, Prime's mechanical voice became almost human, her tone sounding unfathomably grave...

[You… have gained access to the power of an Outerversal law]

[Congratulations!! Axel Nomrad... You have awakened 'The Sin of Oblivion']

Seeker's Note =

Sigh... here we are with the end of another major Arc in the story.

I'm not sure what to say, but this unworthy author will still say a few things...

Know that this insignificant story would not have come to fruition without your support, even as the book's regular readership decreases over time.

But I'm always grateful to those few who have continued to read this story, this story into which I have poured my heart and soul.

And I hope you guys can share the story with more people and keep reading... because without the readers and necessary support, the story can't continue.

So, for the sake of this story, please bear with this yapper of an irregular and shameless author who always asks for stuff.

But trust this Seeker that the next arc is gonna be even more peak... and...

WELL, SO, MY DEAR READERS....

THANK YOU AS ALWAYS...
