Extra's Path: The Eternal Frost Monarch
Chapter 357: Pursue for blood?
The severed projectile wasn’t made of metal or any ordinary element like fire, water, or wind. It was blood.
"That’s right." The woman’s voice drifted toward him, sounding almost delighted. "And since I’ve already wasted some of my precious blood on you, how about you return the favor and give me a little of yours?"
She floated closer, her glowing crimson eyes wandering over Noah’s face. A predatory smile spread across her lips.
"My, my. You’re quite handsome, aren’t you? I wonder what your blood tastes like..."
She slowly licked her lips. "Perhaps it’ll be delicious."
Noah stared at her. For a brief moment, his mind went completely blank. Then he tightened his grip on his sword.
"Hell nah!"
Without another word, he turned his ice sword around and prepared to flee once more.
’Why the hell do I keep running into these crazy people?! And why are the dangerous ones always so damn beautiful?! Forget it! Beautiful or not, I’m not becoming someone’s midnight snack!’
Noah channeled mana into the enormous ice sword beneath his feet, preparing for another desperate escape.
Unfortunately, judging by the woman’s amused expression, she had no intention of letting her prey get away so easily.
She raised one hand and moved it with an almost graceful elegance.
In the span of a few seconds, more than forty blood-red spears materialized in the sky above Noah. Their sharpened tips gleamed beneath the pale moonlight, each one radiating a chilling sense of danger.
Noah’s expression stiffened.
"Curse my luck!"
He had thought that, at the very least, he wouldn’t encounter any enemies while flying through the sky.
But who could have imagined that someone else capable of flight would be lurking up here—and that she would turn out to be one of his enemies?
’Seriously, what’s with my luck tonight?!’
The woman smiled faintly and swept her hand downward. In an instant, the blood spears descended.
WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
Like arrows unleashed by an army of archers, the crimson weapons rained down upon Noah from every direction.
His instincts screamed in warning.
Noah immediately accelerated his ice sword, sending it tearing through the sky at full speed.
The blood spears followed him relentlessly, their sharpened tips cutting through the air as they pursued him like a deadly rain.
Noah leaned to one side, narrowly avoiding a spear that shot past his shoulder. He shifted his weight and guided the sword into a sharp turn, evading two more projectiles that streaked past him from opposite directions.
His movements became increasingly fluid.
The enormous ice sword responded to his control, gliding through the air with astonishing precision. It tilted, twisted, and darted between the incoming spears as though it possessed a will of its own.
One moment, Noah was diving downward. The next, he was banking sharply to the left, narrowly escaping another volley.
Despite the relentless assault, not a single spear managed to strike him.
The woman watched the spectacle with growing amusement. "Oh? You’re rather good at dodging."
Her lips curled into a playful smile. "But let’s see how long you can keep that up."
She raised her hand slightly. The blood spears that had already missed Noah suddenly halted in midair. Then, as though pulled by invisible strings, they turned around.
Their sharpened tips swung toward their target once more.
WHOOSH!
The spears shot upward and resumed their pursuit.
Noah’s eyes widened as he noticed the familiar crimson projectiles closing in on him again.
’You’ve got to be kidding me! They can change direction?!’ He glanced over his shoulder, quickly assessing the situation. ’Her ability is similar to my Ice Creation. She can create weapons out of blood and control them freely...’
His grip tightened around his sword. ’In that case...’
Rather than continuing to flee, Noah abruptly slowed down.
The woman tilted her head, seemingly intrigued by his sudden change of behavior.
"Oh? Have you finally given up?"
Noah ignored her. He raised his free hand, channeling mana into the air around him.
In the next instant, dozens of icy weapons materialized around his body.
Swords, spears, and other bladed weapons emerged from the swirling frost, their surfaces glimmering with a pale blue radiance beneath the moonlight.
Within seconds, Noah had assembled a small arsenal of ice.
His glacier-blue eyes narrowed. ’Let’s see whose weapons are better.’
He swept his sword forward.
The icy weapons surrounding him immediately shot toward the incoming blood spears.
WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
The two volleys collided in midair. It was a clash between ice and blood.
Under the pale moonlight, the ice weapons glowed with an unnatural blue brilliance as they crashed against the crimson spears. The resulting impacts sent shock waves rippling through the air.
BOOOOM! BOOOOM! BOOOOM!
One explosion followed another.
Blood spears shattered upon impact, while several ice weapons burst into countless fragments. Tiny shards of frost scattered through the sky, mingling with crimson droplets that drifted through the air like a snowfall.
The night sky became a battlefield of blue and red.
However, the clash didn’t last long.
Noah’s expression darkened as he observed the outcome.
His ice weapons were simply less durable than the blood spears.
Several shattered almost immediately upon collision, while others managed to destroy their targets before breaking apart themselves. Although many of the crimson spears had been eliminated, a considerable number survived the exchange and continued hurtling toward him.
CRACK! BOOM!
Another ice sword shattered as a blood spear pierced straight through it.
Noah clicked his tongue. "This is bad..."
He had hoped his counterattack would buy him enough time to escape, but the woman’s weapons were proving far more troublesome than expected.
Without wasting another second, he turned his ice sword around and accelerated away.
Noah began moving erratically through the sky, weaving from side to side in sharp zigzags. He climbed abruptly before plunging downward, then veered sideways just as the blood spears adjusted their trajectories to follow him.
His movements became increasingly unpredictable.
He wasn’t trying to defeat the woman.
Behind him, the crimson spears continued their relentless pursuit.
And the Blood Elf watched him flee with a delighted smile, as though the entire encounter were nothing more than an entertaining game.
