Extra's Path: The Eternal Frost Monarch
Chapter 342: Some History Lessons [2]
A murmur spread through the students after hearing it. After all many people study more about their own country’s history that others. Same goes for human empire, even academy mostly taught their own history more. And some involving other countries.
"Some had accepted payment from the vampires. Others had been promised positions and wealth if Vespermark conquered our kingdom."
He paused. "And some had helped the vampires enter our territory by revealing military information and hidden routes."
Noah frowned. ’So there were traitors inside the kingdom.’
"Even elves are not always trustworthy," Eldrian said quietly.
His words carried no anger but only disappointment.
"But there is another part of this history that you should understand."
The students became attentive again.
"Long before the war with Vespermark, there was another group connected to the vampires."
Eldrian looked toward the distant horizon. "The Blood Elves."
Several students immediately began whispering among themselves.
Noah’s expression changed slightly. ’Blood Elves?’
He had heard the name before.
"Thousands of years ago, the Blood Elves were originally part of the greater elven civilization."
Eldrian explained.
"They possessed many characteristics similar to ordinary elves, but their culture revolved around the consumption and manipulation of blood."
"Over time, their practices became increasingly violent. They began secretly attacking other elves and draining their blood."
His voice hardened. "Some even experimented on other races elves. The ancient elven kingdom eventually banished them from our lands as always being kind nature. They fled to the territories that become part of Vespermark."
Eldrian glanced toward the students.
"Over the centuries, the Blood Elves became closely associated with the vampire race. Some eventually call themselves vampires rather than elves,"
"So they were already living with the vampires before the war?" Lyria asked.
"Yes."
Eldrian nodded.
"Those elves were hard to differentiate from normal so many were mixed in our kingdom and helped vampires. That is why the history between elves and vampires is far older and more complicated than the war you have just learned about. After the war our king left the world peacefully in hand of his daughter, princess Aelyssa and now she’s our queen and pride."
The students began murmuring among themselves.
Noah remained silent. He couldn’t help thinking about what Akari had told him.
Vampires were supposedly extinct. Yet there were still too many strange connections surrounding them.
Bloodmoon Rot and everbloom Draught which he learned from Ken and Marina.
And now Blood Elves. There’s definitely some connection between origin of blood elves and vampires
’There are way too many coincidences.’ Noah quietly sighed. ’I really hope I’m just being paranoid.’
After spending some time examining the ruins and listening to Eldrian’s explanations, the students eventually returned to their vehicles.
After that the group saw few more places, they also eat few dishes that could be found only in elven kingdom.
After lunch in noon, they were led to forest. As instructor told them to go and hunt as practice.
They were able to see many different kind of monsters such as Mossfang Bear, A -D rank massive bear covered in thick moss and fungal growth. Its hide is extremely tough, and its claws contain a natural poison.
The three elves together with all students taught them about monsters first that were found in forest.
Especiallt Verdant Stalker, a large feline-like predator covered in moss and leaves. It can camouflage itself perfectly among ancient trees and attack by manipulating vines.
They hunt monster spreading around for hours, amusing thing that many elves were hidden in different part of forest, in trees, constantly looking at students and also for protection of city.
As evening came, the group traveling through the outskirts of Lunathiel before finally arriving at a large complex.
Noah sitting beside Arisha thought. ’The first day went without any problem, I thought something might happened.’
He looked around students who were laughing and chatting. ’What a lucky students they are, enjoying their lif-’
Suddenly remembering what he had gone through. ’Maybe not... sigh don’t know how long they will laugh and enjoy like this.’
"What are you thinking so deeply about?" Leonardo’s voice broke Noah from his thoughts.
"Nothing.." Noah look sideways. He sat in row beside him, Kaelan was there. Silently watching outside.
Students were slowly getting out one by one.
Once outside, a massive wooden structure stood before them.
Unlike the ruins they had just visited, this building was well maintained.
Its architecture blended perfectly with the surrounding trees, with several large branches growing around the structure without damaging it.
There were multiple floors and countless rooms inside. "This is where all of you will be staying for the next four days," Morgana announced.
The students immediately became excited.
Morgana raised one hand.
"However, there will be rules."
The excitement died down slightly.
"You will be staying two students per room. Your room assignments have already been decided."
She began calling out the names one by one.
Students gradually picked up their belongings and headed toward their assigned rooms.
Eventually, Noah looked at Damien. "Why did I end up with you?"
Damien raised an eyebrow. "Don’t look so disappointed."
"I’m not disappointed." Noah lied. "I’m just wondering why we were paired together."
"Because the instructor probably thinks we’re good friends." Damien chuckled and said it.
Noah nodded. "Yeah. That might be the reason."
The two walked toward the elevator.
Unlike a normal human elevator, the one inside the building had been constructed almost entirely from enchanted wood.
Beautiful carvings decorated the walls, depicting trees, flowers, animals, and various elven symbols.
As the elevator began moving upward, one entire side of the structure opened toward the outside.
Through the transparent magical barrier, Noah and Damien could see the beautiful city of Lunathiel stretching beneath them.
The enormous trees, the vine-covered buildings and the glowing magical lights.
And, in the distance the towering World Tree.
Damien stared outside with an excited smile.
"Man, this place is incredible."
Noah nodded. "Yeah."
His gaze remained fixed on the city.
’Today’s information was good... I guess I should visit some library in this kingdom and read about history.’
Noah hated reading history. But sometimes a person needed to do something they hate it. And he had a feeling those four days were going to be anything but peaceful.
