Extra's Death: I Am the Son of Hades

Chapter 729: Invincible God Killer

Chapter 729: Invincible God Killer

“The ancient dragons should’ve detected Neo already, especially with the Dragon Mark I carry. I don’t understand what’s happening either.”

“Maybe they can’t leave their location,” Jack said. “Or maybe they’re too stupid to attack. Felix told us about his meeting with the Ancient Dragons, and honestly, they sound like idiots to me.”

The meeting hall was filled with familiar faces.

Felix, Arthur, Amelia, Layla, Jack, Neo, Ilyana, Moraine, and Percival sat around the long table.

The other leaders of Earth hadn’t been invited.

That wasn’t by accident.

Only the people here had the strength to stand in Ilyana’s presence was here.

Other leaders of Earth were Stage 2 at best.

A few were close to Stage 3, but none had reached it yet.

“I think we should start focusing on our own affairs now,” Amelia said, folding her arms. “We’ve stayed cooped up too long, always waiting for the ancient dragons. But if they’re not coming, then it’s time to let our people live openly. We should announce that the attack has been averted.”

Her statement triggered a wave of noise.

Voices overlapped. Arthur leaned forward to argue,

Felix shook his head, Percival tapped the table to make his points, and Ilyana’s tone grew sharper as she pushed back.

Neo stayed silent.

So did Layla and Moraine.

Neo noticed Layla’s eyes flicking to him a few times during the debate.

A whole year had passed since he’d returned, and in all that time, he hadn’t spoken to her even once.

It wasn’t because he didn’t want to.

There had been just no time for them to meet.

She’d been training under Amelia, and was constantly busy.

And with the looming threat of Ancient Dragons, there had been little room for personal matters.

Now, with the threat looking less certain, the silence between them felt heavier.

Hours passed in arguments that circled back on themselves.

Nothing concrete was decided.

Finally, Neo stood up.

The hall quieted immediately.

“I’m leaving,” he said. His voice carried easily in the silence. “I’ll try to come back, but I can’t promise when.”

“Where are you going?” The question came from Amelia.

Neo was surprised.

Out of everyone, he hadn’t expected her to be the one to ask.

Over the last year, her temperament had shifted.

She no longer treated him with open hostility.

The hatred that had once burned in her eyes was gone, replaced with something cooler, and restrained.

She still didn’t like him, that much was clear, but she didn’t want to kill him anymore at least.

“Work,” Neo said simply.

Jack leaned forward, his expression hardening. He realized where Neo was going.

“I’m coming with you.”

“Jack—”

“You promised we’d go together,” Jack reminded him, his tone firm.

Neo met his gaze, holding it for a long moment.

He’d hoped to dissuade him without words, but Jack wasn’t budging.

His determination was clear.

Finally, Neo sighed. “Fine. Just don’t blame me if you die.”

The atmosphere in the room shifted sharply.

Everyone understood what that meant. Tʜe sourc of ths content s N()velFire.net

If Neo was leaving, then whatever he was planning involved danger at a level the most of them couldn’t even approach.

And if he’d spoken so plainly about Jack possibly dying, then it wasn’t a guess. It was a certainty.

“Are you going to the Alliance?” Ilyana asked. Her voice was steady, but her eyes narrowed.

She knew about his capture by them.

Neo scanned the room.

He could read the concern on their faces, the suspicion, the weight of unspoken questions.

“No one is coming with me other than Jack,” he said firmly.

“I’m not letting Jack go into Alliance territory with you alone,” Ilyana said with a sharp tone. “Besides, the Forgotten Suns are enemies of the Alliance. We would support you officially—”

“No.”

Neo cut her off before she could finish.

His tone left no room for negotiation.

“This is why I’m refusing your help. I’m not joining the Forgotten Suns, and I’m not participating in your war.

“If anyone here helps me, then it’s the same as the Forgotten Suns helping me. That would tie me to your side, and I don’t want that.”

He turned his head slightly, glancing at Jack.

“Jack is already known as a wandering God. Him traveling with me won’t raise questions. He can come without creating complications.”

Ilyana’s eyes narrowed further.

“Why don’t you want to join the Forgotten Suns? We haven’t harmed you. We’ve even protected your world.

“Besides, the goal of Forgotten Suns is equality. We want to protect weaker worlds who are harmed by the stronger, eccentric gods and awakeners. What is the problem with joining us?” she questioned.

Neo didn’t hesitate.

His answer came without pause.

“I’m going to kill one of your leaders.”

The words hit the room like a hammer.

Ilyana stiffened in her chair, her breath catching.

Arthur’s hands clenched into fists beneath the table.

Even Amelia’s expression hardened, her eyes narrowing as her posture straightened.

Everyone in the room knew the person Neo was talking about.

God Killer Zeus.

“Don’t even think about it,” Ilyana said, her voice sharper than she intended. “Did you forget what happened fifteen thousand years ago?

“God Killer came alone. He entered one of the Alliance bases, killed one of their leaders, rescued our Supreme Leader, and walked back out with him. It’s…”

She trailed off, her tone faltering.

“I don’t think it’s even possible to defeat him.”

She still remembered that day.

The execution of the Supreme Leader of the Forgotten Suns was being broadcast across the entire universe.

Billions watched as their leader was bound and humiliated before the Alliance.

Their hope had collapsed in an instant.

The war had been lost.

Then Zeus appeared.

He came alone.

He came without a fleet, without an army to help him.

Just one man.

What happened next was burned into history.

He had torn through the Alliance stronghold like it was nothing, struck down one of their highest leaders, freed the Supreme Leader, and walked out while the universe watched.

The Alliance’s attempt to showcase their dominance had ended in humiliation.
