Extra's Death: I Am the Son of Hades

Chapter 687: The Witch Who Stayed With You

Chapter 687: The Witch Who Stayed With You

Kevin kept speaking, unaware of Neo’s thoughts.

“We know who the new Witch of Lust is. She’s been hiding, and is probably planning something, but it’s been confirmed someone was chosen to be the new Witch of Lust. As for the Witch of Pride… we have no idea who she is, or if anyone has been chosen yet.”

Neo’s mouth felt dry.

He knew exactly who she was.

He had helped her become a Witch.

Elizabeth.

She was the—

“Witch of Pride,” Neo muttered.

Kevin thought Neo wanted to know about her.

He explained, “A new person might’ve chosen to become the Witch of Pride, or perhaps, no one has been chosen yet. We don’t have any news about her.”

Neo stopped walking.

Kevin kept going for a few steps before realizing he was alone.

He turned back with a questioning look on his face.

“Is there a problem?”

Neo didn’t answer right away.

The heaviness in his chest only deepened.

Every time Kevin opened his mouth, more truths came spilling out, and each one seemed designed to push him further down the spiral of madness.

He almost wished he hadn’t followed him at all.

“Neo?” Kevin prompted.

“…It’s nothing,” Neo muttered.

He wanted to leave.

His mind was too clouded to take in any more.

He didn’t want to know what else Kevin had to say.

Every answer only tore his heart apart.

Kevin seemed to notice the shift in him, but instead of stopping, he spoke again.

“You should meet Gluttony. I know you have feelings for your new lover, but at least tell her you’re thankful. She brought you back. She deserves that much.”

“…Why are you doing this?” he asked. “Why do you care what I say to her? Don’t you hate Moraine for taking Vivienne’s Authority?”

“I don’t hate her,” Kevin said without hesitation.

“…Why?”

“When you live long enough, hatred wears itself out.”

Neo stared at him for a few seconds, then turned and began to walk away.

Kevin’s voice followed him.

“Even if you can’t meet Gluttony until you’re strong enough, at least meet the one who’s been with you until now.”

Neo didn’t respond.

His thoughts were a tangled mess.

He couldn’t make sense of what Kevin meant.

He didn’t want to make sense of it.

Kevin didn’t follow him.

But his voice still reached his ears, forcing him to confront everything he had been neglecting until now.

“Before Gluttony became too strong, she predicted what would happen.

“She knew she wouldn’t be able to meet you again.

“So she used the contract Severant had with you, and with it… she cut away a part of herself.”

Neo froze.

He turned back slowly.

“…What?”

“The part she severed was infinitely weaker than her true self,” Kevin explained. “But it could exist alongside you. And since it was severed by Severant, it became an independent entity. It was an entity that was her, and yet it could exist in the universe, no longer bound to her.”

“…What are you trying to say?”

“There has to be a Witch who’s always been around you. Even if she hid her identity, there’s someone who was always there, no matter where you were. Someone constant. Someone who existed in all of your life.”

Neo bit his lips.

His memories surged.

A royal princess.

A glutton.

A king.

Someone who had loved his cooking.

Someone who had protected him.

Someone he had once loved deeply, but had feared getting too close to.

His chest tightened.

Kevin’s eyes watched him carefully.

“Do you know who she is?”

King Morgan.

And…

“It seems like you do know her. So go and meet her. Even if she’s a part no longer connected to Gluttony, she’s still Gluttony.”

Neo didn’t move right away.

His mind replayed meetings he had once thought were coincidences.

Now, each one made him think of Moraine who wanted to be with him.

Felix (Holder of one of the Four Soul Weapons) POV

Felix kept her eyes on Vlad’s back as they walked along the scorched path.

The ground was dry and cracked.

The barren land stretched far in every direction.

It was as if life itself had been chased away.

The snake coiled loosely around Felix’s shoulders shifted slightly.

Its scales felt cool against her neck.

No one but her could see it.

She was carrying a long case over her shoulder.

The faint clinking from inside suggested it held equipment of some sort.

She sighed, dragging her boots a little.

“How long do we need to walk?”

Vlad’s head turned just enough for her to catch the sharp glare from his red eyes.

“Shut up. Be grateful you even have the chance to meet their esteemed selves.”

“Ah, sorry,” she said quickly, flashing a sheepish smile. “I didn’t mean to sound rude.”

The massive blood dragon turned forward again.

His long strides never slowed.

The clicking of his tongue was soft, but it was a clear signal that her chatter wasn’t welcome.

Felix adjusted the strap of her bag and followed in silence for a while.

The air was still, the only sounds their footsteps crunching on the burnt land.

It felt like they had been walking for weeks, though by her count it had only been a few days.

At some point—she couldn’t say exactly when—they crossed into something strange.

There was a pop, as if she had crossed an invisible barrier.

The air felt thicker now, pressing against her skin, and then it was as if a thin veil had been pulled from her eyes.

Felix stopped mid-step.

In the distance stood shapes so massive it took her a few moments to recognize what they were.

Dragons.

Ancient Dragons.

Their bodies held scars. Their wings seemed torn.

And yet, their presence was undeniably overwhelming.

Felix’s mouth went dry.

’Look at these fat asses, they could’ve just reduced their sizes, but nooo, their egos are bigger than their dicks. They had to increase their size to appear intimidating.’

Felix barely kept her expression straight.

’Venyth, don’t do this now. If I laugh here, I’m dead in instantly!”

Venyth flicked its tongue lazily, as if to say it did not care about that.
