Chapter 678: Provocation And Retaliation
Chapter 678: Provocation And Retaliation
’He is also nervous like me.’
Of course he was.
It was his first time being intimate with anyone, just like her.
Although there was a possibility he had been with another woman while she was reincarnating, Moraine erased that thought from her heart.
She didn’t want to soil such a good moment.
A teasing smile curved her lips.
“Why are you not saying anything? Are you too embarrassed to come up with your jokes?”
“Ah… that…”
“So all that bravado was just for show?”
Her provocative words jolted him back.
His grip tightened around her waist, and he pulled her closer.
Suddenly, Moraine realized he was now taller than her.
It must’ve happened over the long course of their time together, and she hadn’t noticed it until now.
She had to stand on her toes as her arms tightened around his neck.
Their lips met.
Their movements were hesitant.
They pulled away.
Only to kiss again.
Longer this time.
Then again.
Their tongues wrapped around each other’s.
Moraine felt like her tongue was melting, as if sparks were spreading through her mind.
Goosebumps ran over her spine.
She never thought anything would feel this good.
She couldn’t stop.
If anything, she pressed her whole body tightly against his.
This warmth, and euphoria was hers.
Once. Twice. Thrice.
They would stop for a moment, and continue.
Each kiss went on longer.
Each kiss was hungrier than the last.
“Chuap… mhmm…”
Vulgar and wet sounds arose between them.
A string of saliva stretched whenever they broke apart.
And yet they kept coming back together.
He lifted her slightly and took a step.
The scenery shifted.
The soft light of Moraine’s room replaced the hill’s evening view.
Moraine didn’t seem to care about the teleportation, or maybe she wasn’t aware of it.
He laid her gently on the bed.
She reached out to him, her arms spreading with trembling fingers.
“Hold… haah… haah… me…”
Her voice was barely audible, and her face was flushed with heat.
Lust and affection swirled in her hazy eyes.
The contrast between the purity and impure expression drove him mad.
He leaned down, pressing kisses along her nape, her collarbone, her shoulders.
A breathy moan escaped her lips.
It was as if the dam had burst.
Whatever resistance or dignity she had before was gone.
She asked for affection openly.
Their lips met again. This time, even more intensely. Their tongues intertwined and exchanged sloppily, clumsily, greedily.
He slipped his hands beneath her clothes.
His fingers brushed against her bare, soft navel.
Then—
Moraine jolted as if struck by cold water.
“W-wait! Stop…!” she stammered suddenly, trying to push him away. “We can’t do it!”
“…What?”
His brows furrowed. He lifted himself slightly, his body still hovering above hers. His breathing was ragged, and his thoughts spun wildly.
He didn’t understand what she meant by that.
Moraine covered her face with both hands.
“I don’t want to do it. N-next time. Let’s do it in the next life,” she mumbled, her voice muffled behind her palms.
“…Why?”
The more he heard, the colder his expression became.
Her words were striking something sharp and bitter in him.
Was she really playing with him all this time?
Was this just some kind of game?
Toss a few crumbs, reel him in, then back away the moment he got close?
Frustration surged up from his gut.
Fueled by anger, he reached out and grabbed both her wrists with one hand, and pinned them above her head.
He forced her to look at him.
“…Why are you saying this? Tell me.”
She squeezed her eyes shut, and she shook her head.
Her chest rose and fell with uneven breaths.
Her thighs rubbed against each other involuntarily, but she refused to answer him.
“…Moraine.”
He never expected he would get angry at her.
He had believed he would remain patient.
But this was too much.
She always pulled him in again and again, only to reject him.
If she was just going to keep playing this push-and-pull game, then maybe he would rather leave altogether.
“…Tell me why? I’m not letting you go until you answer me.”
Her face was burning, unaware of his thoughts.
She looked conflicted, as if her heart and body were speaking different languages.
But she still didn’t answer.
“Moraine, if you’re not going to tell me, then—”
“I’m almost thirty!”
“…Huh?”
She turned her head further away, clearly mortified.
Her voice got smaller and smaller with each word.
“I’m an… old lady.”
“…Old lady?”
Her voice cracked with embarrassment.
To hide her embarrassment, she glared at him, and raised her voice.
“Yes! Old lady! So let’s do it next time when I’m younger! Like… twenty! Or early twenties!”
Her lips trembled.
Her anger rose as he forced her to say such embarrassing things.
But her voice trailed off the more she continued.
“You wouldn’t feel good with someone old. So… so let’s do it when I’m young, okay? I want both of us to feel—”
“Pfft—”
He couldn’t hold it in.
He tried covering his mouth with one hand, his body shaking as he laughed.
“Old—pfft—lady she says.”
Moraine went stiff.
Her voice turned icy, just like his did earlier.
“…Why are you laughing?”
“I’m n-not laughing!” he replied, still trying to compose himself.
She squirmed beneath him.
Her hands were still pinned, but now her leg shifted.
“Wait—wait! What are you doing?” he said, realizing she was preparing to kick him.
“Get off me! I’m never talking to you again!”
“Okay, okay! I’m sorry for laughing!” he said quickly, still chuckling. “I’ll listen seriously now. I promise.”
Moraine stopped for a second.
Then, quietly, she asked, “…You won’t laugh again?”
“No. I swear. Go ahead.”
He found her incomparably cute at the moment.
She inhaled slowly.
“…I don’t want to do it while I’m… like this.”
“…Why?”
“Because I’m… unattractive now. I don’t want the memory of our first time to be of me when I’m… old and ugly. I want us to do it when I’m young and… and prettier.”
“Unattractive?”
His brows slowly relaxed.
“Moraine, look at me, and tell me if I find you unattractive.”
She glanced at him, confused by the word.
Before she could reply, she felt something shift beneath her foot.
Her eyes dropped.
And then she froze.
In the middle of trying to kick his abdomen, and push him away earlier, her foot had touched something hard.
Even now, her foot was there, since she hadn’t changed the position….
Her whole body stiffened.
She quickly moved her leg away.
Unable to look him in the eye, she turned her head to the side.
Her face was burning red.
He leaned down again.
A smirking came to his face, and whispered close to her ear.
“What did you see? Do I look like someone who finds you unattractive?”
She didn’t answer. She couldn’t.
Moraine just shook her head, unable to form words.
Her face was red. Even the tips of her ears had turned pink.
He was satisfied with that answer.
Truthfully, he preferred her mature appearance more than her younger self.
Maybe it was because most of their time together had been like this.
He saw mature Moraine most of the time.
She was strong, soft but sharp, beautiful in her quiet, reserved way, and yet loud and bold.
Embarrassingly, his time with her had shaped his preferences.
He leaned in again.
“So… can we do it now?” he asked gently.
She looked up at him.
Her head moved as if to refuse.
Then she paused.
Her eyes softened, and she bit her lower lip.
Slowly—hesitantly—she nodded.
