Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World

Chapter 587 Chaos [4]

Chapter 587 Chaos [4]

Of course, Michael wasn’t fine. His body hissed where the venom had splashed across his skin, as though acid clung to him.

Angry welts smoldered across his arms and shoulders, faint smoke curling from the wounds. The lion’s spears had burned him deeply, leaving patches of skin blackened and seared. Every movement sent shocks of pain through his frame.

And yet, amidst that pain, there was shock.

Michael had been braced to be torn apart. Against the venom of the serpent and the lion’s blazing spears, he expected his body to crumble. Instead, though scorched and battered, he still stood. His body had not been reduced to ash or dissolved to nothing.

What startled him more was not that he survived but how his body was responding. The wounds were not spreading, not festering as they should have been. Instead, the charred flesh twitched faintly as if stitching itself back together. Blood seeped for a moment, then thickened, hardening into something like blackened crust before flaking away to reveal new skin beneath.

Michael blinked, chest rising and falling as he tried to steady his thoughts.

This… healing?

He hadn’t cast [Regeneration] nor had he taken any potion so why?

One should not forget that these attacks had traces of law in them. Also before this, he couldn’t handle Gale’s law for a heartbeat but now he could for monsters stronger than him?

A flash of light flared across Michael’s vision as he seemed to have remembered something.

But there was no time to dwell.

The serpent hissed and its mouth seemed to drip with fresh venom. The lion’s mane burned brighter, molten spears forming once more.

The crystalline above still spread its wings but didn’t look like it planned to attack soon.

The other two on the other hand weren’t going to give him space to breathe.

The serpent lunged again, coils whipping forward, fangs bared. Michael’s fists clenched, mana surging along his arm. He didn’t think and simply acted.

Boom!

His punch ripped through the serpent’s strike, shockwaves cracking the air. The impact rocked the beast’s skull aside, forcing it to recoil with a bellow of frustration. Venom scattered into the air, sizzling as it touched stone, but Michael had already twisted free, sliding past the serpent’s flank.

The lion roared, its flaming spears falling like meteors. Michael’s fingers rose in the air, instinct sketching a circle before his mind caught up. Mana flooded outward, condensing into a jagged spear of black light.

[Death Arrow]

The spell screamed from his hand, a streak of black light tearing through the night sky. It clashed head-on with one of the lion’s flaming spears. Darkness and fire ground met in mid air but the arrow fractured and was swallowed by the blaze.

The spear kept going, its heat searing Michael’s skin even before it reached him.

Michael twisted aside, the projectile grazing his shoulder. His flesh hissed, the wound smoldering as if molten iron had brushed him. His jaw clenched against the pain.

A part of Michael wasn’t surprised at the outcome though he had also expected a bit more.

After all, his [Death Arrow] was stronger than any spell he had cast before today. Yet here, against the lion’s solar fire, it was reduced to little more than an inconvenience.

The serpent lunged, its fangs gleaming.

Michael’s hand flicked upward, channeling mana.

[Death Ray]

A beam of black light lanced forward, screaming across the air. It caught the serpent across the side of its jaw. For an instant, the beast jerked, scales sizzling under the ray’s touch. But the effect was

shallow.

Instead of piercing through, the spell skated along its surface, leaving a blackened scar across emerald scales before dissipating. The serpent’s head snapped back toward Michael, fury boiling in its eyes.

Michael gritted his teeth. Even his improved spells, bolstered by purer mana, were not striking as deeply as he hoped. Against ordinary foes, they might have been devastating. Against Rank 3 monsters, they were barely scratches.

He swept his hand sideways, conjuring another spell.

[Slow Curse]

The serpent’s charge faltered. Its body dragged mid-lunge, coils weighed down as though invisible chains clung to them. Yet the effect lasted only a breath.

With a violent thrash, the beast broke through, momentum returning in a rush. Michael managed to pivot aside, his fist slamming into its

flank.

Crack.

A faint fissure spread across its scales. Not much, but enough to make the serpent hiss in fury.

Michael’s other hand flicked upward to the other monster, weaving

another curse.

[Blind Curse]

Darkness rippled across the lion’s eyes. The beast staggered for a step. But then its mane flared, golden fire erupting outward.

The curse evaporated in an instant, burned away as if it had never been. The lion roared, claws already raking forward.

Michael’s eyes narrowed. His curses barely slowed them, his destructive spells left shallow marks, and his shields shattered almost as soon as they were raised.

But Michael refused to give up.

He thrust his arms forward, conjuring another [Mana Shield]. The barrier shimmered into place, its weave tighter this time.

The lion’s claws slammed into it, cracks spiderwebbing across the

construct.

With a sharp crack, the shield collapsed, shards of light scattering like

broken glass.

Michael twisted with the blow, pain roaring across his ribs, but he

swung upward.

Boom.

His fist connected with the lion’s jaw. Blood sprayed in molten arcs as

the beast’s head snapped back, its mane scattering embers across the night. The lion staggered, growling in fury.

Michael panted, his body scorched and aching, venom burning at his

skin, his chest still seared from earlier strikes. His spells were

working, but only just.

The serpent coiled tighter, venom dripping like rivers of acid. The

lion’s mane blazed hotter, golden fire curling into new spears.

Michael stood battered but unbroken, his body healing slowly. Michael kicked off the air and climbed, a streak of pale light rising into

the night. The serpent and lion snapped after him, but Michael was already moving his hands, fingers cutting precise arcs that his mind barely needed to follow.
