Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World

Chapter 1327 Solving Four Issues At Once

"Master, I want to go out and explore."

"Huh?"

For a moment, Michael wondered whether he had heard correctly.

The first thing that came to his mind was that something had gone wrong. After all, Jester wasn't an ordinary undead. With the Law he possessed, there was always the possibility that he had seen something troublesome in the future.

The second was a familiar headache. Among all his undead, Jester was probably the one with the strangest ideas.

"Is something wrong?" Michael immediately asked.

Jester looked momentarily surprised before shaking his head.

"No, Master. Nothing like that."

"Oh."

Michael relaxed slightly. That was good. At least, it wasn't a disaster waiting to happen.

However, that only made Jester's request more puzzling.

Michael didn't suspect Jester of harboring any ill intentions toward him. The connection between them remained as strong as ever, with no sign of resistance or disobedience.

If anything, another possibility came to mind.

Could he be bored?

Michael looked at Jester thoughtfully. It wasn't impossible.

Among all his undead, Jester was undoubtedly the most intelligent. His intelligence was extraordinary, even when compared to beings who had lived for countless years. Michael had long since realized that Jester was capable of independent thought. Unlike most of his other undead, Jester also possessed desires of his own.

Whether he had any actual needs was another matter. Undead generally didn't possess the same needs as living beings, but Jester was already so unusual that Michael wouldn't be surprised if he eventually discovered otherwise.

Thinking about it now, Michael suddenly felt a little guilty.

Jester was an extremely powerful undead, yet for more than half a year, Michael had practically reduced him to a babysitter.

Of course, it wasn't as though the responsibility was unimportant. Michael considered his family's safety one of his highest priorities, and entrusting Jester with that responsibility demonstrated just how much faith he had in Jester's abilities.

Still, there was a difference between being trusted with an important responsibility and actually enjoying that responsibility. Jester was capable of so much more, and while Michael had never heard him complain, that didn't necessarily mean he was satisfied.

Damn.

Have I really been making this guy babysit for more than half a year?

Michael suddenly felt that he might have been a little unfair. If Jester wanted to experience something different, perhaps there was no reason to refuse him.

However, he still needed to understand what exactly Jester meant.

"Explore?" Michael repeated the word.

"What do you mean by that? Where exactly do you want to go?"

Jester smiled.

"The Origin Battlefield, Master."

"…"

Michael stared at him in shock.

The Origin Battlefield?

That wasn't the answer he had expected. He had imagined Jester wanting to visit the outside world, not the Origin Battlefield.

Before Michael could ask anything else, Jester continued.

"More specifically, I want to visit the Zeroth Layer."

"The Zeroth Layer?"

Michael raised his eyebrows, even more surprised than before.

Why there of all places?

Michael studied Jester for a moment.

"Why?"

Jester's smile widened slightly.

"Because I sensed something there, Master. An opportunity."

Michael's expression became thoughtful.

For several seconds, Michael said nothing. He hadn't expected something like this to happen.

What kind of opportunity could possibly be waiting for Jester there? Was it something related to his Law?

Michael opened his mouth to ask, only to stop himself.

What if Jester answered him and suddenly had to pay another price? For all Michael knew, Jester might suddenly lose five levels right in front of him.

Whatever the opportunity was, Michael could learn about it when Jester actually encountered it. There was no need to make him pay an additional price simply to satisfy his curiosity.

Michael rubbed his chin thoughtfully. He had initially been worried that Jester was simply tired of remaining in the Mausoleum, but this was clearly something else. If Jester had personally sensed an opportunity worth seeking out, Michael wasn't inclined to dismiss it.

However, there was another issue Michael couldn't afford to overlook.

Aunt Mia.

With Jester planning to leave for the Origin Battlefield, Michael remembered the situation concerning his aunt. At present, she was living within the Mausoleum of Endless Dominion, where her safety was practically guaranteed. As long as Michael remained the master of this world, very few things could threaten her here.

But safety wasn't everything.

With his cousin Lily already gone and Jester potentially leaving, Michael could imagine how lonely Aunt Mia would become. Although the Mausoleum was enormous and possessed an environment that could rival many places in the outside world, it wasn't exactly a place where an ordinary person could live a normal life.

There were no bustling streets filled with people going about their daily activities, no familiar neighbors to exchange greetings with, and certainly none of the ordinary experiences Aunt Mia had once enjoyed. The undead might have their own personalities, but they were still undead.

Thinking about this, Michael felt another wave of guilt. If someone claimed that Aunt Mia had been robbed of the life she once knew, he would find it difficult to disagree.

Of course, Michael knew that Aunt Mia had never blamed him. But that only made him feel worse.

Michael's expression gradually became serious as his thoughts raced.

Perhaps he had been approaching the matter incorrectly. For a long time, his priority had been ensuring that Aunt Mia remained safe, but if he continued this way, there might never come a time when he felt comfortable allowing her to return to the outside world.

After all, even if he eventually advanced to Rank 4 or Rank 5, who could guarantee that he wouldn't encounter even stronger enemies?

The higher he climbed, the more complicated his circumstances seemed to become. Waiting until every possible danger disappeared was simply unrealistic.

After several moments of thought, Michael made a firm decision.

He was going to take Aunt Mia back to Aurora.

Not merely for a short visit, but to allow her to resume something resembling the life she had once enjoyed.

Naturally, he wasn't planning to act recklessly. Aurora was no longer a place he could simply assume was safe. Before bringing Aunt Mia back, he would need to investigate the current situation. If necessary, he could also seek assistance from someone he trusted.

A familiar figure immediately came to mind.

Teacher Brian.

Michael hadn't forgotten the old man. Although they weren't particularly close, Michael had little reason to doubt his character.

As Michael considered contacting him, the matter relating to Teacher Brian's daughter resurfaced in his mind. He hadn't forgotten about it, but one problem after another had forced him to postpone dealing with it. Now that he was considering returning to Aurora, perhaps there was no reason to delay it any longer.

The more Michael considered the situation, the more convenient the timing seemed. He could investigate Aurora's current circumstances, make arrangements for Aunt Mia's return, reconnect with Teacher Brian, and address the matter concerning the man's daughter.

Four matters that could potentially be handled during the same trip.
