And then there was his monstrous vitality.

No ordinary necromancer carried a body capable of shrugging off environments built specifically to punish undead-aligned beings. In truth, Michael had already stood several levels above his class long before Death's Heir had ever entered the picture.

This meadow, beautiful and lethal as it was meant to be, simply wasn't enough.

Michael raised one hand and summoned his undead.

Beginning appeared beside him as one undead after another materialized around him.

Within seconds, a thousand undead had spread across the golden meadow.

Almost immediately after Beginning's arrival, Michael had noticed a difference. The effect of Sunreach Meadow was far more obvious on them than it had been on him. Thin wisps of energy constantly leaked from several undead before being burned away by the sunlight.

Michael narrowed his eyes. This was, after all, his first time fighting in an environment this disadvantageous.

On him, the environment had barely been an inconvenience. On other undead, however, it was a real suppression.

Still, none of them were collapsing. Some undead, like Beginning with its special Law, weren't significantly suppressed at all.

Michael glanced toward Beginning, then turned to look at the other hundreds of undead under him.

"Find any other living being in this place and kill it."

Watching the groups divide into groups of fifty, Michael himself took off.

Far away from Michael's position, hidden within the endless golden plains, something moved.

A creature no larger than a human child crouched among the tall grass, its body almost perfectly blending with the light surrounding it.

Four thin wings extended from its back. They resembled butterfly wings at first glance, delicate and almost transparent, but countless golden patterns covered their surfaces.

Whenever sunlight passed through them, those patterns bent the light strangely, causing the creature's outline to blur and disappear.

Its race was known as the Lumin Mothkin.

Despite their fragile appearance, they were one of the rarer races naturally aligned with light. Unlike most light-related species, however, the Lumin Mothkin were not known for healing, purification, or direct combat.

They were assassins.

Their bodies could merge with surrounding light, suppress their presence, distort perception, and even briefly turn themselves almost completely invisible beneath sufficient illumination.

Unfortunately, their race itself was insignificant on the wider scale of the universe, as they possessed no Demigod. The strongest known member of their race had remained trapped beneath that threshold for as long as they could remember.

Even reaching Rank Four was considered an achievement worthy of being recorded in their history.

The creature hiding among the grass was one of those rare individuals.

A Level 100.

Its golden compound eyes remained fixed on the distant darkness spreading across the meadow.

This was the fourth time it had come across something like this. More importantly:

Why does this group also look different from the previous three? Don't tell me this Michael Norman has two hundred Rank Four undead with him? Isn't he a realm at this point?!

The information he purchased from the Shadow Pavilion didn't include this at all!

Sure, granted he only bought the lowest tier on this fellow, but with how expensive it was, surely they could have been more generous to include something like this, no?!

In fact, this was how most supernaturals that didn't have the resources or guts to approach Aurora got more information about the matter.

It was how it knew that this fellow was nineteen years old, a Rank Three Awakener at Level 75, had at least one undead who could match three Level 100 Awakeners without losing, proven by evidence gathered from his last Origin Battlefield visit, and also had at least two battlefield treasures with him.

This was what the basic information contained. Oh, and an insignificant part about some family members.

The Lumin Mothkin's wings trembled slightly.

For the first time since accepting Michael's challenge, a thought appeared in its mind.

Had it made the correct decision?

It knew someone becoming known across multiple realms couldn't possibly be ordinary. The Lumin Mothkin had understood that before accepting. It had simply ignored the warning since its greed had been stronger.

It had thought that as a Level 100, it should be able to handle a Level 75, even if he was guarded, right?

The creature repeated that thought to itself as it watched Beginning's enormous silhouette rise above the golden grass in the distance.

The Lumin Mothkin swallowed.

"…should I still continue this?"

It had only just finished that thought when the sunlight above it suddenly disappeared.

The Lumin Mothkin froze.

A shadow swallowed the grass around it. Its head snapped upward.

A massive hand was descending from the sky.

"What?!"

There was no time to think.

The creature's wings erupted with golden light as it shot sideways, its body becoming almost transparent beneath the sunlight.

The sixty-metre giant that had just passed it had somehow found it.

The Lumin Mothkin's heart immediately sank. The information from Shadow Pavilion had mentioned the dark drake, but nothing about this one, which was why it had hidden itself even more upon sensing it at first.

"Those bastards!"

After this, it was never buying the lowest information tier again.

The creature had no intention of fighting Beginning directly. It needed time to make a decision after seeing what this Michael Norman had to offer. Right now, it had already lost the will to fight and was just being stubborn.

Fortunately, Beginning was enormous. Something that large should be slow if it didn't use the Void, and even if it did, with how limited the use of the Void was in the Origin Battlefield arena, a good part of chasing depended on flight.

The Lumin Mothkin accelerated. It didn't use the Void, as there was no need. The moment the giant attacked, it had used its power to make the surrounding void chaotic, creating a sort of space lock.

In any case, speed was one of the greatest advantages of its race, especially beneath sunlight this dense.

It believed it could escape.
