Evolution Online: My 10,000× Reward System Multiplies Everything
Chapter 48: Its spiked club had broken on the head of that Slime?!
[Welcome back to Evolution Online]
[Do you wish to explore other game worlds?]
"No."
As soon as Kaelen saw the situation was under control, as more players logged out to join the battle, he didn’t wait around to see the aftermath and returned to his mansion.
He still had twenty thousand merit points to make in five days, and the more time he wasted in real life, the more time passed in-game.
He quickly left his motel, but instead of heading out of the city to start hunting goblins, he returned to the guild to check who was at the front desk.
If all players were logged out, who would be the stand-in for these organizations?
He saw a new face there and suspected she was an NPC, as the lobby was mostly empty except for a few people entering the building to issue missions for the guild to handle, giving them out as NPCs as well.
Kaelen was aware taking on two missions at once was not allowed, but he still went to check the mission board for any new interesting bronze-rank missions.
Who was going to stop him now?
Just as expected, there were two new bronze missions that caught his attention.
One spoke of crazed farmers in a nearby village, and the other mentioned something about mining in a cursed cave of the dead.
Kaelen planned to take on the missions one at a time before having to return to the city again. And when he did, he’d be twenty thousand merit points up.
He ripped off the two mission flyers and walked up to the front desk to submit them.
"I’m sorry, you can only take on one mission at a time."
"Oh, okay," Kaelen said and submitted one to get stamped.
The front desk lady didn’t know he had already taken on a mission before, so that part went smoothly.
He returned the other flyer and walked out of the guild. A few seconds later, a dwarf walked through the doors of the guild, went straight to the mission board, grabbed the same exact flyer Kaelen had dropped without even looking at it, and walked up to the front desk to submit it.
The front desk lady glanced at the bronze tag bearing the guild’s insignia hanging around his neck before stamping the flyer, and the dwarf quickly left with it.
With the three missions acquired, Kaelen set out for the first location.
The farmland.
It was a vast field with tall grasses that narrowed your vision to only a few metres around you, making it hard for players to see the enemy approaching before they were ambushed.
He finally understood why a party of no less than three was required for it. But that rule didn’t apply to him.
Instead of waiting or baiting the goblins out, he activated his [Sharp Senses] and immediately spotted all their hiding spots across the field.
They were great in number and stuck close in groups of three and five. But this didn’t scare Kaelen as he morphed into a Slime and shot forward like a cannon.
If he decided to fight in his disguise and use the Infinite Mana Talent, he might end up burning down the entire field. Which was why he went for the more direct approach.
Before the first goblin group could even sense any danger, multiple blade-whips shot out from the field and attacked. This wasn’t happening with just one group, but with many groups at once, as Kaelen coordinated the group attack from a good spot while the kill notifications began pouring in like gold.

These goblins provided an insignificant amount of evolution points compared to other races of their evolution Tier, making hunting them a chore rather than a perfect grinding spot.
In just a few minutes, Kaelen had killed hundreds of them and was still counting.
He soon realized they were starting to retreat into a forest next to the farmland and chased after them, taking them out one after the other, but slowly enough to let them lead him to their village.
He was quick to realize there was no village, and the goblins were only running in circles to shake him off.
Seeing this, he decided to finish them off, collect their right ears, and move on to the next location. But before his blade-whip could reach the last goblin running ahead, something got to it first.
A large fist suddenly appeared and grabbed it, crushing it between its palms before tossing it into its large mouth with rows of razor-sharp teeth.
The new predator was easily ten metres tall as it revealed itself like a mummy that had climbed out of the grave.
"What the hell is that?"
[Server Announcement]:
[A Goblin Hidden Boss has risen!]
[Defeat the monster and protect the village for additional rewards]
The announcement quickly answered Kaelen’s question and confirmed his initial suspicion.
The goblin massacre had triggered the hidden boss, who didn’t mind eating its own kind.
There were barely any players in-game, leaving only him to fend off the hidden boss alone. But when Kaelen checked its evolution Tier, he clicked his tongue in annoyance.
All that noise for a Tier 5?
But on second thought, killing the Goblin Hidden Boss should definitely generate more merit points for him. But for an event that broadcast the hidden boss to the entire server, wouldn’t the name of its slayer be broadcast as well?
Even though the majority of players were offline, they’d surely receive a recap of the announcements on their return to the game, putting Kaelen at a disadvantage.
The Goblin Hidden Boss roared ferociously as it charged at him with its club at a terrifying speed. It closed the distance between them in a moment, appearing before Kaelen with its club raised so high it blocked the sunlight and cast a large shadow across the Slime.
Then it brought down its club in one swift motion.
Boom—
A cloud of dust exploded from the impact, shaking the nearby trees to their core.
But when the goblin raised its club back up, its body turned rigid as it froze on the spot. The dust cloud almost dissipated at that moment to reveal the second half of the thick club lying beside a perfectly unharmed Slime who didn’t seem to have moved an inch from the spot.
Its spiked club had broken on the head of that Slime?!
Kaelen only sighed in exasperation.
"Just die already."
