Evolution Online: My 10,000× Reward System Multiplies Everything
Chapter 174: Everything can be bought with enough Evolution Points
Kaelen was stunned for a moment.
The ability to reroll a character’s talent or affinity?
Even without the Reward System, if Kaelen had gotten his hands on this pill after becoming a slime, he could’ve simply rerolled his character for another affinity, which should come with another race.
If what she was saying is true, then that pill should be priceless, and she was just casually handing it over to him. Then again, she did say she created it herself, and it couldn’t be found anywhere else in the universe except in that backpack of hers.
This made him wonder who she was on the universal scale.
But most importantly, did that mean she could or might have the Immortality Pill?
He couldn’t hold himself back and immediately asked.
"If you’re the greatest alchemy apprentice like you claim, can you create the Immortality Pill?" He asked without accepting the Fate-Rewriting Pill.
"Immortality Pill? What do you need that for?" She asked with a raised brow, making Kaelen frown slightly.
"Isn’t that obvious from its name?" He asked sarcastically.
She was silent for a moment as she sized him up from head to toe for the first time, and her eyes widened slightly in surprise. "Oh, I know. You’re the Karla Crew." She exclaimed in disbelief.
"It’s Kaelen Cross." His mouth twitched.
"What’s the difference?" She blurted. "Now that I recognize you, I guess it’s not surprising of you to want a taste of madness." She said bluntly.
Kaelen frowned deeply. "What’s that supposed to mean?"
"That’s what you’ll get for consuming the Immortality Pill. They say only scholars who want to grasp the understanding of our existence take the Immortality Pill, but all those who took it never remained after finding the answers that they seek. Some became serial killers, some cult fanatics, while the others tried to end their own lives and suffering. If you’re looking for the Immortality Pill, you’ll have to make it yourself because it’s been destroyed and banned across worlds."
Her words made Kaelen’s heart sink.
Did Emir also know this and let him chase after the pill that might change his mother for the worse?
"It seems you’re trying to save someone with the Immortality Pill. If they’re terribly ill, I’d advise you to simply administer a potent regeneration potion or go see a physician for that." She said and moved her hands to stuff the Fate-Rewriting Pill back into her bag, when Kaelen appeared before her and grabbed her hand.
"What if none of that works? What if their lifespan has already been used up and no amount of regeneration potion can restore their life?" He asked with a serious expression.
"Then you need a powerful curse-nullifying or blood-cleansing pill for that."
Kaelen frowned. "I never said she was cursed."
"But she is." Elyndra replied flatly. "There’s no bloodline ability in this universe that uses up a person’s lifespan, and the Atreus bloodline is not an exception. It’s not even that powerful if you were to put it on a scale of bloodlines out there."
"What are you talking about?"
"I said what I said. The Immortality Pill won’t be of any help to you if you’re trying to save someone. If you don’t want to exchange your beast corpses for my Fate-Rewriting Pill, I respect that. I’ll be taking my leave—"
"I’ll take it." Kaelen said as he snatched the pill from her and threw it into his inventory. "I’ll also let you run your experiments on all my corpses if you tell me what I need to save her."
"If I’m being honest, there’s nothing out there that can save her. If there was, she would’ve found it by now. She knows she’s doomed, and it’s a surprise she’s come this far. So I’ll pass on that offer and do with what I have. Now if you’ll excuse me—"
"Didn’t you say you’re the greatest alchemy apprentice of all time? If you can rewrite fate with a pill, why can’t you uplift a curse?"
Elyndra was stunned for a moment before her lips curled up. "I see what you’re doing. I get that a lot and have grown immune to such tactics. It’s fine by me to think whatever you want, but that won’t change the fact that I’m the greatest, believe it or not."
Kaelen stared at her for a moment before exhaling slowly and walking away without another word.
"Y’know, I’ve always been fascinated by the Atreus bloodline. By what makes it so unique. That ability to create and pass on a powerful ability to another..." She trailed off, making Kaelen pause for a moment without looking behind.
"I can definitely help you work on something, only if you help me collect all the materials I need from the Tower and let me experiment on your blood."
"No, thank you."
"Huh? Don’t tell me you’re scared of strings. Or are you scared that I’ll steal all your blood?"
"I’m simply not interested." He replied as he kept moving forward.
"W-What? You were on your knees begging me just now."
"I wasn’t. And I just realized I don’t even know you or if what you’re saying is half true. Forget we ever had this conversation, and you can go back to collecting garbage. Thanks for the pill, though. Feel free to stop by for more corpses if you have any other useful items on you."
Elyndra was momentarily stunned as she stared at Kaelen’s back, before her lips slowly curled up.
"You shouldn’t have done that. Now my curiosity is piqued. Though his bloodline might be deficient, if I can tap into even a minuscule of its secret, I just might be able to imitate the bloodline ability with alchemy. And if I manage to pull that off, I just might be able to save my race." She said to herself as a dangerous glint flashed across her eyes.
"Kaelen Croft, huh. Let’s see how long you can survive the Tower before I can purchase your organs at the black market. After all, what most candidates haven’t realized is that everything can be bought inside the Tower of Babel with enough Evolution Points—including life and death." She bit her lower lip and began giggling non-stop as she watched Kaelen disappear from sight.
