Chapter 279: Ch-279: New York Auction (1)

"Yeah, let’s go inside and talk," Victor said, ignoring the shocked looks of the others.

After some time, they arrived in front of a large office.

"Che, not bad. This is the first time I’ve seen the office."

Victor said with satisfaction, but before he could continue, Edward handed him a file and asked with a raised eyebrow, "What’s this?"

"This contains the details of the upcoming auction. You know, a lot of dungeons have appeared, and we also acquired quite a few, but this one requires your presence, as the government invited every Guild Leader for the bidding of an S-rank dungeon," Edward explained.

"S-rank dungeon?" Victor said, surprised.

Victor blinked and took the tablet that Edward handed him, then looked at the digital file, and his brows furrowed.

"S-Rank Dungeon, Dwarven Crater, Auction," Victor read, and when he read the word Dwarven, his pupils constricted.

"Holy shit, a Dwarven dungeon? Edward, is that for real?" Victor’s eyes moved toward him as he asked in a tone of disbelief. He could not believe someone would sell a Dwarven dungeon.

"Indeed, Young Master. I guess they don’t know the significance of Dwarves. If they knew, they would not have sold it. They didn’t explore the dungeon at all so they could sell it at a high price," Edward said with a mocking look.

"Hah, great for me. I will directly take this dungeon back to the Silvernum Territory and compensate the Guild with another S-rank dungeon," Victor chuckled. Even someone like Edward, who did not leave the planet, knew the significance of Dwarven dungeons. They dropped the most loot, and the entire dungeon was rich in minerals. S-rank Dungeons could drop high-quality Obsidian, which would allow him to create even stronger Mechs and Magisteel.

"Hmm, good idea." Edward nodded in agreement and then looked at giddy Victor and sighed with narrowed eyes.

"And Lord Victor, you also need to go on a dungeon dive with your Guild members. Even if it’s for show, they won’t stick around if you don’t," Edward advised, and Victor, hearing this, felt embarrassed and said while rubbing the back of his head, "Haha, I will go later. You know I have been busy."

Victor felt a little guilty, as he had dumped all the work on Edward, and neither he nor his girls had performed the duties of Guild Master or Vice Master. Even though he knew Edward was a professional butler, he did not mind and happily entrusted him with more chores, but he still felt a bit awkward.

Ding!

Suddenly, Victor looked at his mobile phone and saw a text from Valerie appear, which caused him to raise an eyebrow.

Valerie: Victor, did you get an invitation from the government to visit the auction?

Victor: I did. Why do you ask?

Valerie: Do you all want to go together with me? I am going alone. I thought it would be better to tag along with you all.

Victor paused for a second before replying.

Victor: Sure.

Valerie: Good, I will come pick you up in front of your Guild building.

Next Day

"When is that guy coming?"

Opening the window of the limousine, Valerie irritably said.

It was currently 8:10 P.M., and the auction would begin in thirty minutes. Given that it would take about the same amount of time to arrive at the venue where the auction was going to be held, it looked as though they were going to run late.

She had been waiting for him for an hour, and there were still no signs of him. This was the first time the future heiress of the Valemont Family had to wait for someone else. If someone had told her she would be in such a situation a year ago, she would have scoffed at them.

"Finally, he is here," Valerie said, looking at Victor, who had worn a sharp, expensive suit that increased his handsomeness by several points as he walked alone toward the limousine.

"Where are Amber and Rina?" Valerie asked with a raised eyebrow, which caused Victor’s smile to stiffen.

"They were too lazy and wanted to stay at home," Victor said with a shrug. He knew they were both trying to hook him up with Valerie, as they—and even he—knew she had an interest in him.

Valerie’s eyes widened, and a faint blush appeared on her cheeks, which surprised her.

"Well, let’s go," Valerie said as her heart was beating very fast.

After they entered the passenger seat, Valerie took a deep breath to calm down her nerves.

---

The New York City Grand Auction was held inside a large hotel, Sky Hotel, one of the most luxurious hotels in New York City.

"We’re here."

Stopping in front of the hotel, the first thing Victor saw was a large sign with the words ’Sky Hotel’ engraved at the front.

"Let’s go."

The first one to get out of the limousine was Valerie, who was wearing a beautiful black gown that perfectly complemented her beauty.

"Hup, let’s go."

After her, Victor, alongside Valerie, exited the limousine.

Stepping out of the limousine, Victor straightened his blazer as he started walking.

"Are you also going to bid for the dungeon, or are you going just for fun?" Valerie asked. She had checked Victor’s account balance using some connections and found out he did not have enough, as she knew how fierce the bidding for the dungeon was going to be.

"Yup."

Victor nodded his head in response.

"You have enough money?"

"No."

He had a little over one hundred million dollars in his bank account after purchasing the Guild building.

Though this wasn’t enough to buy the item that he wanted, he was planning on putting a few items up for auction, so there shouldn’t really be a problem.

"Mhm, if you don’t have enough, I can lend you some."

"I don’t really need it. I will just sell or auction a few rare pieces of equipment."

"Items?" Valerie paused as she looked at Victor seriously. As she knew his identity as Faceless, she was sure he had many items stashed away that could make countries go to war over them.

"Let’s go. First, we need to exchange our money or items for points," Valerie said, which caused Victor to raise an eyebrow and then nod.

Arriving at the entrance, they were soon greeted by multiple attendants.

"Hello, welcome to the New York City Grand Auction. Can you please show us your tickets?"

"Here."

Nodding her head, Valerie flashed a card to the attendants. Looking at the ticket, the attendants opened their eyes wide, and Victor did not bother showing his own.

[Valerie Valemont, VVIP]

"Please follow me this way."

Looking at the card, the attendants immediately became more courteous. They all had brilliant smiles on their faces as they looked at them.

"Let’s go to the exchange center first," Valerie said as Victor nodded in agreement.

As they entered the hotel, they were spotted by three men who were chatting among themselves. They were Julian, Regal, and Mathew.

"Hey, Julian, isn’t that your fiancée, Valerie? Why is she with him? Did you get a green hat?" Regal said in a mocking tone, as Julian, Valerie’s fiancée or ex-fiancée, clenched his fist and replied, "Mind your own business, Regal, and our families have already broken our betrothal."

Julian, even though he felt resentment, did not target Victor. He was not like the mindless young man of the past anymore.

"Che, coward," Mathew sneered and ignored the glare from Julian.

"I am going," Mathew said as he left them, his brows furrowed as he remembered Victor’s figure. ’Where have I seen him before? I feel like I have met him inside the game before.’

"Don’t be grumpy," Regal said with a smile to Julian as his eyes narrowed on Victor. ’When did he get so close with the Valemonts? Is the matriarch of the Valemont family trying to marry her daughter to him?’

Regal’s brows furrowed when he thought about this. Well, it was not unwarranted, as the Valemonts in the past had risen like this. They would target wealthy billionaire men and have their female members marry them, soaking them into the Valemont lineage. That’s how they rose. Technically, most families also did the same.

"Hmm?" Regal flinched as he snapped his head toward Julian, who had veins popping out on his forehead as he glared at Valerie and Victor, who had gone inside.

Suddenly, his pupils constricted to the size of pinpricks when he saw a dark hue cover his body and his aura rise, tainted with malice and darkness, which vanished immediately. If someone did not have good perception, they would have missed it.

Regal watched silently as Julian also left.

"What was that? Something is off with him," Regal muttered, and he was getting more and more frustrated by this unexpected variable. First Faceless, then Victor, and now even Julian gave him a faint sense of unease.
