Evolution of the Ruined Heir

Chapter 317: Wine

Chapter 317: Wine

Beatrix Von Sanguine held a glass of wine while chaos reigned below.

To Beatrix, wine was more important than most lives. She would watch entire strongholds crumble if it would get her a bottle of good wine.

Her fanaticism was that insane. She’d become addicted to wine from a young age, growing up in the blood thirsty Sanguine clan where a child had to achieve great things just to earn the attention of their parents. Where a child had to be destined for greatness, or receive only scorn.

In such a clan, there was no love. Only… use. In such a clan Beatrix had grown to love wine. Nothing else seemed to deserve her love.

Not the cold blooded Sovereign who only cared about the advancement of the clan. Not the heartless mother who ran away to another clan the first chance she got. No one.

’Except my baby.’

The child she’d birthed after numerous deliberations of whether or not to get rid of it. The fifth vein. In all honesty, Beatrix had no idea who her father was, only that she was her child. Hers, no one else’s.

’My baby is doing okay.’

Most would have claimed she had given her daughter an overwhelming task one should never give a child.

But no one knew Sereza better than her. She was her carbon copy. She’d known it the moment she held her up as a baby. Her eyes, they were just like hers. Filled with derangement, madness. Love.

There was no person better to leave in charge of her secret base while she handled the trash.

“Fourth pulse.” One of her warriors flew over to her open carriage, managing a bow. He was clad in black attire, face covered with a faceless mask.

“Jenka. I hope you’ve brought good news.”

“Unfortunately not, fourth pulse.” Jenka fought her heavy gaze and continued. “The rest of the coven have gone underground.”

“So? Why haven’t you stormed the place yet?”

Jenka swallowed.

“Because they threatened to kill the hollow bloom should we come any closer. I believe they’re serious.”

“Yeah, no shit.” Beatrix cursed out loud, then took a breath to calm her nerves. She took a large gulp of wine. To her it felt like nectar of life. All her sorrows were washed away.

The hollow blooms. It was a name they’d given to a particular type of Gor’Mekhai. They were blooms whose eyes were hollow and lifeless and they acted as though they were infants.

Beatrix still wasn’t sure what caused this, but it didn’t change the fact that their death could result in the spawning of a grade four. They were trying to avoid that.

“What are those useless clan heads doing?”

“Scrambling to figure out a way past their threat, fourth pulse.”

“And yet you’ve come to me, Jenka.”

Jenka paused. It was clear she’d caught on. “Yes, fourth pulse. They were hoping to receive your wisdom.”

Beatrix clicked her tongue. “Useless faggots.”

They had taken the Gor’Mekhai by surprise. The truth was, Beatrix had long since known how to locate the Gor’Mekhai settlement.

With their current technology, it was quite easy. But she had held back on suppressing them and finding the source of the large vita density because of her research.

On her first examination of the Gor’Mekhai she’d found out that they weren’t a different species or race, they were undoubtedly human but with an ability.

The Gor’Mekhai were hybrids. They had hyper tissue and nerve systems. Their muscles could absorb and mimic foreign tissue enabling them to fuse any parts to themselves.

Beatrix had seen a chance to exploit this and had taken it. But now that they’d made a breakthrough in their research, there was no need to tolerate their ignorance anymore. She had moved to supplicate them.

As with all forces with superior mind and technology, she’d chosen a simple method.

She had spread a gas that could knock out even blooms and watched with amusement as the settlement crumbled. They’d captured more Gor’Mekhai today than she’d gotten for years.

But now there was a problem, and they needed her to fix it. Beatrix found it plenty annoying how the lower clan heads could be so useless.

She’d brought them to help, and their warriors surrounded the Gor’Mekhai forest, but they were more useless than anything.

Regardless, she couldn’t help but admit how tricky the current situation was.

’The gas can’t reach underground.’

She had to give it to them, they weren’t as stupid as she thought. She had taken them as dumb, mindless savages, but it would seem they could use their heads.

Beatrix pondered for a bit, drank another mouthful of wine, then smiled. “Send them a message. Every minute they don’t surrender, we’ll kill one Gor’Mekhai child.”

Jenka shuddered at the coldness but nodded. He was about to take off but Beatrix waved and stopped him.

“Kill a few now and send their heads to them. Tell them it’s for the inconvenience they’ve caused us.”

Jenka swallowed. He soon took off, leaving Beatrix to her dark thoughts.

’Soon it’ll all be over.’

Once she’d captured the Gor’Mekhai coven, confirmed her suspicions of there being a fountain of Vitaeon here, all she had to do was confirm if everything had gone okay with the Sutrex and everything would be over.

’Stupid fool. All he had to do was allow my lab through his estate. He brought his own destruction upon himself.’

She had no doubt it would be done. After all, she’d left Nesroth in charge. The arbiter had recently failed her, but she had no doubt he was capable.

Her gaze suddenly flashed cold as she recalled the failure.

’The ninth vein.’ She hadn’t met and spoken the kid personally, only seen him from afar, but the fact that he could pose a danger to her plans made her hate for him skyrocket.

’You won’t make it to the clan.’

She thought coldly. She had spies in Vitaemora, the instant they sighted Malakai they’d been told to kill, no matter the consequences. She couldn’t afford the Sovereign finding out about the happenings here.

Beatrix ran her hand through her lifeguard, seeing her baby’s name written boldly with a green bar in front. This was one of the features she’d added to her lifeguard that enabled her to track Seraza’s vitals.

’She’s excited.’ Beatrix smiled. She was also excited. Excited for the future, for the chaos yet to happen.

She would stand on top of this world, no matter the blood she had to spill.
