Evolution of the Ruined Heir

Chapter 311: Underground Room

Chapter 311: Underground Room

Malakai’s movement underground was easier than he would have expected.

Now that he had the ability to control vita, he manipulated the vita around his body, pushing the earth around him aside as he moved.

To Malakai, it felt like he was swimming inside water.

The fourth pulse’s mansion was located north of the Sutrex clan estate. To reach it, Malakai had to transverse a large distance, tens of kilometers.

But with the chaos currently happening, he was glad he was underground, free from any threats.

He moved like a torpedo inside water, using the vita around him to form footholds he used to propel himself forward. Malakai covered a large distance in a few seconds.

Bam!

He narrowed his gaze. His momentum had just been stopped by something hard.

’It’s sturdy and smooth.’ He brushed his hands against the black mass. If the earth was like water, this thing was like a rock.

’An alloy.’ Malakai identified. He was glad that he finally found something! This must be the thing the fourth pulse wanted to run under the Sutrex estate.

’A large device?’

Malakai knocked on it slightly. Though it was insanely hard, it felt hollow. There was space inside.

’A hideout then?’ he reasoned before shaking his head. Staying here and coming up with different assumptions wouldn’t change anything. He would find out whatever it was inside.

’I need to be quiet.’

Malakai brought up one of his scythe staff and activated it. As the green blade formed, he shook his head.

’I better be careful.’

He brought out the second staff, but before activating it, he brought out two of the weapon’s batteries and replaced them with newer ones.

When he activated it, Malakai could immediately feel the difference. The earlier ones felt weaker than they should be.

He had been using the scythe for a while now, so it was expected the batteries would get worn out.

Malakai let out a deep breath, trying to calm his beating heart. So many things were happening all at once and he wasn’t even sure what to expect the moment he entered.

Regardless, he clenched his scythes tight. It had to be done.

With deftness, Malakai used the scythe and cut open a round hole big enough for him to fit. The alloy didn’t stand a chance against his grade three vita weapon.

Malakai didn’t waste time. He burst through the hole the next moment, the darkness giving way to bright white lights.

It took a moment for his eyes to settle. But as the white light cleared, Malakai’s expression shifted.

A fist was tearing towards his head.

’It’s fast.’

If Malakai hadn’t ramped up his perception to full throttle and used Oxyflow to increase his comprehension, he doubted he’d be able to follow it.

’Synergy stage.’

As Malakai noted, his body moved in tandem.

A foothold formed beneath his foot and he twisted, deftly launching himself to the side, barely evading the blow.

As he skidded to a stop just before a white wall, he finally got a moment to observe his surroundings.

“Who the hell are you?”

The man who just spoke was none other than the one who had been about to pop his head like a watermelon. He was a synergy staged evolver, but that was far from being all.

’A sanguine.’

Crimson hair and crimson eyes. The man was a Sanguine.

’They’re all sanguines.’

Malakai didn’t respond and glanced towards the others. He was inside some sort of control room, countless screens were spread across a large wall, showing live footage of different parts of a large base.

There were exactly five figures aside from him inside this room.

’Just one synergy stage. Others node formation.’

With his 50 meter vita field, he could tell their ranks and the number of nodes they’d formed.

Of all of them, there was only one person Malakai considered a threat, the synergy stage evolved.

“I asked you a—” the synergy stage evolved froze the moment he saw Malakai’s face.

Earlier, he’d been too surprised by the abrupt entry that he’d attacked immediately. But now that he got a closer look at Malakai, he couldn’t help but be shocked.

“Ninth vein…” the man muttered, eyes narrowed. He suddenly felt a subtle sense of fear surging through his body, and the others were no different.

They might serve the fourth pulse, but a vein was akin to royalty in the Sanguine clan.

He was undoubtedly an intruder they should hunt down and kill, but could they survive the aftermath of killing a vein?

The synergy stage evolved took on a tense posture that Malakai didn’t miss. There was a brief moment of silence, one Malakai didn’t let slide. He used it to ponder his chances.

’Can I win?’ His strength had grown significantly since his last fight with a synergy stage, but he was still a node formation evolved. Would he be able to bridge the impossible gap?

The synergy stage evolved cleared his throat, trying to ease the tension in him.

’I can’t let him go.’ If he did, forget the clan, the fourth pulse would kill them.

’I can’t kill him either. Then…’ his eyes flashed cold as he decided. ’I’ll capture him.’

He felt his confidence surging back.

“Ninth vein. This is a restricted area in the city. You have to come with us.”

“Where is this place?”

The man was taken aback by Malakai’s calmness. Didn’t he know the current situation he was in?

’That’s right. He evaded my punch.’

A wave of unease suddenly sprung up within him. Malakai’s performance during the hunt was off the charts. But… evading a synergy stage evolved’s punch was too much… right?

’I better bring him down now.’

The man took a step forward, gaze cold, voice colder. “You need to come with m—”

The piercing sound of a projectile tearing through the air echoed before he could finish speaking. The man’s eyes narrowed just in time to see a crimson projectile screaming towards his head.

’Blood.’

His body moved as he realized, blurring to the side. The sickening sound of the projectile tearing through one of the node formation behind him echoed, followed by a piercing scream.

But the man didn’t seem to register any of them. His eyes snapped towards the source, Malakai.

’He threw his blood?’ His gaze shook the moment they landed on Malakai’s bleeding thumb. He controlled his blood? Outside his body? A node formation evolved?
