Evolution of the Ruined Heir

Chapter 300: Blow

Chapter 300: Blow

“Shit! Shit! What the hell!”

He shot back, wanting to create distance, when a weakness assaulted his body. His limbs turned limp, and before he could realize, he was on the floor, darkness overtaking his vision.

Karla’s eyes were wide open. She could tell, the man had fallen unconscious!

“Who?”

The sounds of footsteps reached her, and in the next instant, a man walked into the room. Karla’s eyes widened.

“You… how?”

“You look like shit.”

Karla watched with a trembling gaze as Unoa grabbed the keys from the man and freed her chain. Her legs trembled as she landed, but Unoa caught her before she could fall. She felt so weak.

“Here, take this.”

He placed an opened vial filled with greenish liquid in her mouth, and she quickly drank it, feeling a rejuvenating energy wash away all her fatigue.

’Vitaeon.’ She realized, although a low grade one. It gave her more energy regardless.

“H-How did you get here?”

“We can catch up later. He’ll be out for at most two minutes. We have to leave.”

Unoa supported Karla towards the exit, but as they passed by the man, Karla caught sight of his bulging crotch. She gritted her teeth.

“I need a knife.”

Unoa was confused for a moment until he followed her gaze and saw what she was looking at. He clenched his jaw but said nothing, only unsheathing a dagger and handing it to her.

“He won’t wake up no matter what, right?”

Unoa paused. “Right. But you can’t kill him.”

“Death is mercy for him.”

Karla shakily approached the man and ripped open his pants, revealing his hard on. Her eyes glinted as her dagger flashed, and in the next moment, a soft thud echoed in the room.

“We have to go!”

Unoa picked up Karla and quickly moved out of the room and over the fence at the back.

He handed her his cloak, saving her from the cold air biting at her battered skin. They picked up the pace, wanting to put as much distance between them before the synergy stage evolved woke.

Finally, they stopped and entered a cheap motel at the edge of the district where Unoa had prepared beforehand. Karla slumped down on the bed the moment they entered into the room. She felt pain coming from every part of her body.

Unoa stared at her silently.

“Now tell me, how did you find me?”

“You showed me the key at the Nocturne, remember? When I didn’t see you for a couple of days, I figured something was wrong.”

“You sure took your time.” Karla tried to keep the venom in her voice in check but failed.

Unoa smiled. “That’s not how to express your gratitude. I did save you.”

“You think this is funny?”

Unoa laughed. “C’mon, it’s not like you can blame me. I thought my sexy partner was capable enough to handle herself.”

“I can handle myself.”

“I didn’t see a lot of handling back there.” He chuckled.

Karla inhaled deeply before exhaling. She tried to calm her emotions.

“Does the Ninth Vein know?” she asked, trying to keep the worry from her voice. She didn’t want him to know that she’d fucked up.

“No, I didn’t say anything.”

Karla stared at him silently. “Why?”

“Because we’re partners, whether you like it or not.” He shrugged. “Your fuck up will reflect on me.”

Karla let out a breath. She wasn’t going to make the mistake of trusting this man, but he was right, currently, they were partners.

“We have to meet the Ninth Vein. I found something,” she suddenly said.

Unoa’s expression shifted, and he nodded. Then he suddenly realized something.

“Tonight’s not good.”

“Why?”

“He told me a couple nights ago to find out information about some Sutrex party he planned on going to. That should be tonight.”

Karla’s eyes almost popped. “We have to leave, now!”

“Wait, what? What’s going on?”

“There’s no time to explain.” She was already on her feet. She entered the bathroom to clean up, emerging a moment later.

“What is going on?” Unoa asked again, expression serious.

Karla recalled everything she had seen before she had been captured. The statue cake of the Sutrex… the bomb, the party. She instantly reached the conclusion.

“They’re going to blow up the whole party.”

“Ninth Vein.”

Malakai was pulled out of his thoughts by Whiteshade’s call. He glanced towards the Sutrex, who was staring at him hesitantly.

“Yes?” He clearly had something to say.

“I-It’s about my position in the family.”

’Position?’ Whiteshade was the third fleshling of the Sutrex, which was basically like a vein, but of the Sutrex clan. But for him to bring up his position like this…

“You can’t get us into the party?” Malakai asked.

“No, not that, Ninth Vein.” Whiteshade shook his head. “It’s about what you should expect as my guest. I’m not well liked, especially by my siblings. It’s why I didn’t plan on attending the party in the first place. Since you’re entering with disguises, it’s very likely my other siblings will try to bring you down to get to me.”

Whiteshade expected Malakai to ask more questions, but he only nodded and said,

“Okay.”

When nothing else came, he was forced to drop the matter. What Whiteshade didn’t know was that Malakai needed no explanation about the matter. He was all too used to siblings who wanted nothing more than to prove their dominance. More importantly, he knew how to put them in their place.

The ride continued in silence, and they soon reached the Sutrex mansion. The guard checked and saw that it was their third fleshling, and the group was allowed to pass without interruption.

As they reached the front of the large mansion, Malakai had to stop Nyx from opening the door of the carriage. She had almost forgotten her role and had been about to respectfully clear the way for her master.

Luckily, Malakai had beaten her to it. And as he disembarked, he suddenly offered his hand to help Nyx. She struggled to fight off the blush creeping up her cheeks and took his hand.

Whiteshade led the way in front, and they made their way into the mansion.
