Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress
Chapter 774: Killing
An eerie growl echoed across the fragmented planet.
One of the Ancient Devils’ opponents unleashed a barrage of attacks.
Its serpent head opened wide, releasing a dense cloud of poisonous mist.
Its lizard-like claws struck from both sides, preventing its enemy from dodging.
At the same time, its lower limbs, which resembled a bird’s talons, attacked as well, while the fiery wings on its back supported its weight.
Like everything else within this secret realm, the creature’s form was chaotic, as though it were an amalgamation of several different creatures.
Under normal circumstances, such a creature should have been weak, with a diluted bloodline that limited its own potential. Yet that was not the case.
Every single one of its attacks had reached the Ancient Devil level, posing a threat even to Antiquity Devils.
Had this battle taken place outside the Land of Origin, its opponent might have been able to withstand it. At the very least, he could have escaped.
However, his flickering form showed that he had yet to adapt to the rules of the Land of Origin.
He was already suffering from the impact of the time fragments. Now, faced with such a powerful opponent, he had no way to fight back.
Within seconds, his body had been torn apart. Struck by the time fragments, he had no chance to recover.
His form soon scattered.
With his death, a bloody rain fell upon the broken planet, as though the world were mourning his passing.
His companions stared in shock. Terror flashed in their eyes as they immediately turned around and tried to escape.
Unfortunately, it was already too late by the time they realized the danger. The chaotic creatures immediately pounced on them, taking advantage of their weakened state to tear them apart.
More and more bloody rain fell upon the planet as growls and shrill cries echoed across its surface.
No one knew that someone was coldly observing their entire battle.
Liora, in her Dragon of Time form, stared at the defeated Ancient Devils without any intention of saving them.
Rather than that, she actually used their predicament to analyze the situation.
"Judging by the current situation, some of the native creatures in the Land of Origin are quite powerful."
"If the entering Devils haven’t dealt with the impact of the time fragments, they will easily be suppressed."
"Moreover, since this place weakens the Ancient Devils’ connection to their Thrones, recovering from ’death’ will be extremely difficult. It will probably take thousands of years and a lot of resources for these Devils to recover in the outside world."
Of course, compared to the dead Ancient Devils and their plight, something else caught Liora’s attention.
She stared at the souls of the Ancient Devils and watched as the time fragments struck them.
Unlike before, when these time fragments corrupted them, they had now begun to help them.
New bodies began to form with the remnant souls as the foundation.
Unlike their previous bodies, however, which contained Devil bloodline, these new ones appeared to be made entirely of the power of time.
Things did not end there.
Under Liora’s surprised gaze, the many souls and their new bodies came together, fusing into a single brand-new creature.
Before long, another "native" creature had appeared, its form just as chaotic as those of its companions.
The other native creatures did not attack it. Instead, they welcomed it into their ranks.
"Sure enough, these creatures are not born naturally."
"Unlike the birds I encountered earlier, which appeared to be projections, these chaotic creatures are born from the corpses of the creatures that entered the secret realm."
Liora did not know whether this situation was unique to this planet or was true throughout the entire Land of Origin.
Clearly, this place could not be judged by common sense.
Rather than call it a secret realm, it would be more accurate to call it another dimension.
After all, everything suggested that it had its own rules, even if they were somewhat similar to those of the Origin Sea.
Liora’s eyes flashed.
She looked at the chaotic creatures as they began patrolling the planet, searching for their next prey.
After a few seconds of hesitation, she decided to take action.
Her wings flapped. Her body vanished.
When she reappeared, she was floating above the chaotic creature with the serpent head that had attacked first.
She didn’t use any abilities.
She simply swung her front limbs, her dragon claws tearing the fiery wings of the creature apart.
"Hisss!" Her opponent struggled to fight back.
Just as it was about to call for help, Liora lowered her head and bit down on it.
Her fangs broke through its skin, penetrating deep into its body.
What came out was not blood, however. It was visible time fragments that displayed scenes from the past, present, and future.
Liora watched the moving images with a cold gaze.
Then, she took another bite out of the chaotic creature, using her claws to land the final strike.
In the blink of an eye, the light in her opponent’s eyes faded.
Its body shattered into countless time fragments, which gradually became invisible as they returned to their original form.
This marked the creature’s death.
However, Liora did not stop there.
She felt a call coming from within herself.
Instinctively, she opened her mouth.
A devouring force descended, as though a black hole was hidden inside her throat.
All the time fragments were drawn into it, soon disappearing into her belly.
Moments later, Liora’s scales began to shine. The complicated patterns adorning their surface became more complete.
Without needing to investigate, she could tell that her Dragon of Time form had grown stronger.
Unfortunately, she didn’t have time to study the changes.
The chaotic creatures of this planet seemed to share a connection with one another.
Sensing their companion’s death, they all turned around and rushed toward Liora, showing no fear at all.
Facing their charge, Liora did not back down but chose to attack.
Before the enemies could even reach her, she had already appeared above one of them, opening her mouth and biting down on its head.
The soul-stirring sound of flesh being torn apart soon echoed again.
Then again and again.
