Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 751: Shocking the Ancient Devils

  • Next Chapter

The Fallen Ancestor’s accusation was clever.

With a single sentence, she had turned what was originally a battle between her and Liora into a matter that threatened the existence of the Fallen Angel race.

Although everyone could see that her purpose was to use her lineage to intimidate Liora, they had to admit that it was effective.

If she were facing an ordinary Antiquity Devil or even a slightly weaker Primordial Devil, her words would have caused the opponent to hesitate.

Unfortunately for her, she was not.

In response to her words, Liora merely shook her head.

“There is indeed no enmity between us. Moreover, I have no ill will toward other Fallen Angels.”

“I only came here today to borrow something. I don’t wish to fight,” she said.

This made the Fallen Ancestor raise her eyebrows.

Inwardly, she breathed a sigh of relief.

As long as the opponent held no murderous intent, everything would be fine. They could negotiate an agreement.

“What do you need? As long as your demands are not excessive, I’m willing to make a trade with you,” the Fallen Ancestor said.

She had originally expected that Liora had taken a liking to one of the many treasures in her possession.

However, her answer revealed her true purpose.

“I wish to borrow your Demon Layer for a little while,” Liora spoke casually, her gaze sweeping across the 174th Demon Layer as though it were her back garden.

Such an action made the already furious Fallen Ancestor even angrier.

Although she had previously taken a step back, that didn’t mean she was truly afraid of Liora.

Every Ancient Devil possessed their own trump cards.

Her identity, combined with the many backups she had left behind, meant that she had little fear even when facing Primordial Devils, much less an Antiquity Devil.

At worst, she would die!

For an Ancient Devil, resurrection was extremely easy.

With that thought, the Fallen Ancestor’s voice was no longer polite.

She stared at Liora with an angry expression.

“It seems that I was right. Your Excellency has come today to stir up trouble.”

“Since that’s the case, there is no reason to waste time.”

“I want to see if Your Excellency has what it takes to ‘borrow’ the Demon Layer from me. If you don’t, there is no reason to leave here today!”

Before she had even finished speaking, the Fallen Ancestor had already taken action.

The wings behind her flapped, pushing her forward with astonishing momentum.

At the same time, a giant black scepter materialized in her hand.

The gem at its top shone eerily.

A beam shot out, corrupting every bit of space that dared to block its trajectory.

Liora could clearly see that the scepter was not an ordinary weapon.

Just like the statue she had obtained from the other dimension, the scepter was also a condensation of a Law. That of Corruption.

Although it was far weaker than the lion statue, when combined with the Fallen Ancestor’s own and considering their compatibility, it was able to unleash power far beyond common sense.

“It’s no wonder you dare to fight back even after you’ve witnessed my strength.”

“With this weapon in hand, even Antiquity Devils will have trouble defeating you.”

Liora sighed secretly.

Sure enough, every Ancient Devil was extraordinary in their own right.

The Hollow Ancestor had concealed his advancement to the Antiquity Stage and made great plans for his further advancement.

The Fallen Ancestor possessed such a treasure that perfectly fitted her needs.

Every single one of them had their own trump cards and schemes.

Having lived for so long, their experiences and encounters far surpassed those of Liora.

“Unfortunately, in the face of absolute strength, every trump card and extraordinary method is useless,” Liora whispered, but it remained a mystery whether this was addressed to her opponent or a reminder to herself.

Under the Fallen Ancestor’s stunned expression, Liora did not evade the attack.

Instead, her mind stirred.

The sin of the entire Demon World gathered, condensing into a Sin Avatar behind her back.

The crimson phantom opened its mouth wide, bringing its face in front of the black beam.

The next moment, the two met.

There was no explosion.

No collision, whether material or conceptual.

The instant the mouth touched the black beam, it seemed to transform into a bottomless black hole.

A terrifying devouring force descended upon the space around it.

The black beam was unable to resist. It disappeared into the Gluttony Avatar’s belly!

Whether it was the Fallen Ancestor or the many onlookers, they were stunned.

They could tell that the Gluttony Avatar had not merely withstood the attack, but had devoured it and used it as its own nourishment.

To be able to devour a peak Antiquity-level attack with such ease, even Primordial Devil attacks were unlikely to damage it.

The Ancient Devils did not have time to think for long.

The figure behind Liora suddenly changed.

“Since you’ve attacked, it’s now my turn.”

“If you can withstand this attack, I may consider letting you live,” Liora stated coldly.

The crimson mist tumbled. The mask on its face shifted.

From beast-like hunger, it had now turned into one of anger and bloodlust.

All the Sin Avatars were powerful, able to contend with Ancient Devils based solely on their special abilities.

However, if Liora had to say which one possessed the most powerful frontal strength, it would be none other than the Wrath Avatar.

It could increase its own power on a fundamental level. More importantly, the longer the battle lasted, the greater the increase would become.

Standing behind Liora, the Wrath Avatar raised its hand, clenched it into a fist, and punched forward.

Its movements were unassuming, as though it were an ordinary mortal warrior who had never come into contact with any techniques.

…At least, that was how it appeared to the onlookers.

But to the person facing the brunt of its attack, it felt completely different.

Under the sheer physical might of the Wrath Avatar, the Fallen Ancestor felt the concepts she represented tremble in fear.

Like a mouse meeting a cat, they shrank back, unwilling to step forward to defend their master.

Worst of all, the Fallen Ancestor could tell that the attack was not purely physical.

Like the attacks of a Chaos Beast, the punch could target both the soul and the physical body at the same time.

“Impossible! How could an Antiquity Devil possess such power?” The Fallen Ancestor couldn’t help but scream inside her mind, unwilling to believe what she was seeing.

She struggled to resist.

Using every ounce of her courage, she bit her tongue, forcing herself to wake up.

Then, she employed all her trump cards.

The scepter in her hand exploded, transforming into a wall of darkness in front of her.

Several shadowy creatures emerged, standing before her like guards and corroding the ground beneath them.

Even the Demon Layer was mobilized.

Under the Fallen Ancestor’s command, countless secret formations were activated, extracting the essence of the land to strengthen her own defenses.

Before the punch had landed, the Fallen Ancestor had used all her trump cards.

She was confident that even Primordial Devils would fail to pierce through her defenses, giving her the time to resist.

But much to her shock, the Wrath Avatar’s fist directly penetrated through the wall of darkness.

Its mere aura caused the shadowy creatures to let out shrill cries before they exploded.

The essence of the land was exhausted, causing many landscapes across the Demon Layer to break apart.

Finally, the fist landed on the Fallen Ancestor’s enormous figure.

“Wha—” She had no chance to speak.

The next moment, both her body and soul were obliterated, as though they had been erased from existence.

The entire 174th Demon Layer wailed, mourning the death of its Ruler and creator.

It seemed as though it would last forever.

Yet as Liora waved her hand, the bloody rain and shrill cries came to an abrupt stop.

The phenomena ceased.

It was only then that the observing Ancient Devils realized what had happened.

“The Fallen Ancestor has perished?” One of them couldn’t help but mutter, sensing that all traces of the female Ancient Devil had vanished.

Just as they were stunned, a voice suddenly startled them.

“Look! She has disappeared! She has entered the River of Time!”

Upon hearing this, everyone looked toward the 174th Demon Layer again and saw that Liora was nowhere to be found.

From the remnant traces of time in her original location, it was obvious that she had entered the River of Time.

As for what she wanted to accomplish by doing this, some people had faint guesses.

“Does she want to obliterate the Fallen Ancestor’s timeline imprints?”

“Is she planning to force the Fallen Ancestor into eternal silence?”

—

The death of an Ancient Devil was not necessarily the end of their life.

Whether through their control of the River of Time or by making use of their many backups, they could always resurrect.

Killing an Ancient Devil was extremely difficult, as evidenced by the large number of Thrones resting along the banks of the River of Time.

Most of their owners had “disappeared”.

Yet as long as their Thrones remained, they would always have the hope of returning.

As Liora landed on the River of Time, her consciousness spread out, following the aura she had just recognized.

Soon, she found herself standing in front of a massive Throne.

Its patterns were slightly dim, with several long cracks running across its surface.

From its blasphemous aura, it was clear who this Throne belonged to.

A Fallen Angel!

The Fallen Ancestor!

The moment Liora confirmed this, she launched her attack.

A deafening explosion soon echoed throughout the River of Time.
