Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 528: Summon

The Gods of the Blood Forest Realm were a combination of Awakeners, demons, and Gods, drawing on the advantages of all these extraordinary "races".

Yet at the same time, they also inherited their disadvantages.

More specifically, the Gods’ reliance on external power—the power of faith.

Under normal circumstances, this drawback was nothing to worry about and would not limit their future achievements.

However, if a large number of the God’s believers happened to perish, or even worse, resent their deity, the God would suffer severe backlash.

This was exactly what was happening at the moment.

With Liora’s Blood Clone interfering in the outside world and causing chaos and countless casualties, the Hydra Tribe’s faith toward the Nine-Headed Hydra had begun to waver.

As a result, its Godhead was affected.

Black mist tainted the originally pure golden faith, sending a tremor through the hydra’s body.

For a moment, the various Laws it had comprehended started to riot, as if trying to get out of its control.

The hydra had to focus a large amount of its attention to regulate the rioting Laws and its corrupted Godhead, causing its attack to dissipate.

Seeing this, Liora did not stop her actions.

Instead, she accelerated her speed.

She knew that the opportunity she had been waiting for had finally come.

Her hands grew faster.

Only a moment later, when the final rune was imprinted on the humanoid body, the distant will finally descended upon it.

The figure’s appearance was finally revealed. It was an unassuming man, carrying an ordinary aura, as if he were a mortal.

Yet the moment he showed up, the world around him resonated with his existence.

Black holes emerged one after another, while space and time were erased.

The Nine-Headed Hydra was briefly stunned.

It could not recognize that person.

All it could see was that his power was equal to the Divine Dragon, or at least at the same level.

If any Devil were here, however, they would discover that the man was none other than the Ruler of the 173rd Demon Layer, the Hollow Ancestor!

More precisely, it was his phantom.

Reanimation—an ability Liora had comprehended in the world of Knights, but not used in a very long time.

But now, using her World of Heart and the Summoning talents she had plundered in the past, this ability finally reemerged.

The evolved form of Reanimation did not contact the true Hollow Ancestor, but merely with the imprint he had left in the Origin Sea.

Still, activating this ability was akin to pouring water into a bottomless pit.

Liora sensed the Cosmic Energy flow out of her body as though a dam had burst.

The space within several talent genes was instantly sucked dry.

She knew very well she could not afford to waste time.

Gritting her teeth, she used her consciousness to control the Hollow Ancestor.

She didn’t try to get him to activate any ability—that much was impossible given the gap in strength between them.

Instead, Liora controlled the phantom to stretch its hand.

Then, the Hollow Ancestor casually pointed forward, thrusting his finger toward the deity below.

The black holes seemed to resonate with his movements.

Before the finger could even come into contact with the hydra, the opponent let out a terrifying roar.

It had not recovered from the faith backlash. Now, being attacked again, it could not offer any resistance.

A thunderous boom echoed, followed by the sound of tearing flesh.

The defenses the Nine-Headed Hydra was proud of were instantly penetrated.

Moreover, traces of the concept of time lingered within the Hollow Ancestor’s attacks.

A bloody fingerprint was imprinted on the deity’s body.

The hydra discovered that it could no longer recover from its injuries, as though this state had been "saved" across all timelines.

Liora’s mind moved once more.

She wanted the Hollow Ancestor to attack again, annihilating the Nine-Headed Hydra once and for all.

Unfortunately, she suddenly faced a large amount of resistance.

The rate at which her Cosmic Energy was consumed grew hundreds of times faster.

The eyes of the Hollow Ancestor became increasingly lifelike.

His consciousness was starting to awaken!

The moment she sensed this, Liora immediately relinquished her control over the phantom.

Reanimation was instantly deactivated.

Yet the Hollow Ancestor did not dissipate immediately.

His pupils momentarily turned into two black holes, and he turned around to look at her.

His mouth opened, as though he wanted to say something, but before the words could come out of his mouth, his body exploded like fireworks.

Liora breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing this.

However, the Nine-Headed Hydra’s agonizing screams quickly snapped her back to reality.

She knew that the battle was far from over just yet. Or at least, her opponent was still alive.

Feeling that the deity was starting to regain control over its Godhead, Liora acted quickly.

She didn’t activate any of her talents.

Instead, the World of Heart returned to her soul space, and a golden eye materialized in the middle of her eyebrows.

It blinked eerily and twitched several times before finally locking onto the Nine-Headed Hydra.

There was no material attack, nor any beams of light firing outward.

Only a powerful aura erupted from Liora’s fragile body and pressed onto her opponent.

The deity’s screams stopped for a brief moment.

Its mind became blank, as though its consciousness had frozen in time.

Then, its cries grew even more deafening and agonizing.

What was the World of Heart’s biggest strength?

It was neither its sealing capabilities nor its material attacks.

Just as its name would suggest, the World of Heart’s greatest utility was targeting other people’s hearts.

In simpler terms, their souls.

As Liora fully urged this characteristic, she appeared to have turned into the Divine Dragon in the Nine-Headed Hydra’s eyes.

At any other time, it might have broken out of this illusion with ease.

Yet having suffered the backlash of faith and the attack of the Hollow Ancestor, its consciousness had long become blurry.

Its mental walls had collapsed.

Liora approached it.

With each of her steps, the mental oppression grew stronger.

By the time she stopped in front of it, the Nine-Headed Hydra seemed to be suffering tortment from the deepest ends of Hell.

Liora ignored its reaction.

The crimson in her eyes deepened as she stretched her hand and placed it on the hydra’s body.

Then, Predation was activated.
