Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 478: Virtual Helmet

The next morning, the hall was packed with students once again.

It was just that these people now all looked different from yesterday.

Some looked distraught and appeared to have given up on life, while others were filled with pride, exuding the pressure of a superior.

“Alissa, don’t be so sad. Even if you only awakened an F-Rank talent, you can still live as an ordinary person.”, a young boy looked at his companion and said, seemingly trying to comfort her.

But the next moment, his tune abruptly changed.

“You should know that I awakened a C-Rank talent yesterday. As long as you’re willing, I can accept you as my subordinate, giving you some simple matters to tend to.”

“My family has a business spanning the entire Nova Terra Planet.”, the man said.

“Coupled with my talent, becoming a Rank 2 Awakener is guaranteed for me. I have a chance to reach Rank 3, 4, or even 5 in the future.”

The young man didn’t lower his voice and made no attempt to hide his words. However, his offer did not cause any surprise.

Instead, the other failed students looked at beautiful Alissa with envy, as if she had gotten lucky to receive such an offer.

They cursed inwardly! Why had they not been beautiful like her?

If they had, they would have at least been able to become an Awakener’s servant!

Watching this scene from the corner of the hall, Liora couldn’t help but shake her head.

This was another major difference from the Earth she was used to.

Due to the lack of extraordinary powers, everyone was equal in her past life, at least on the surface.

In this world, however, Awakeners held an extraordinary status.

Taking in servants, concubines, and even forming harems was commonplace among powerhouses and geniuses.

Just as Liora was thinking and observing her classmates’ reactions, the door of the room swung open, and a person walked in.

It was Elena, the young-looking teacher responsible for supervising yesterday’s Awakening Ceremony.

After she stepped onto the podium, she swept her gaze across the students below.

Ignoring the difference in their attitudes and moods, she spoke up.

“I’m happy to see you all here today. Even if some of you are disappointed, no one has given up on their dreams just yet.”

“That’s good.”, she said, her voice spreading throughout the hall and showcasing the power of a true Rank 2 Awakener.

“As I mentioned before, there will be no classes from today on. Helios High School has decided to grant you a free month to improve yourselves before the College Examination.”

College Examination.

This term echoed in students’ minds. Even the most confident among them couldn’t help but feel nervous.

All students were the same, with a sole exception.

Upon hearing these words, Liora felt oddly speechless rather than anxious.

She understood what the so-called College Examination entailed.

Every year, the Human Federation, spanning countless galaxies, would conduct an examination in the planets under its rule.

Depending on the students’ performance, they would be assigned to various colleges and academies.

The better a student performed during the examination, the more prestigious the academy they would enroll in.

In a certain sense, the College Examination would decide their future. Besides one’s awakened talent, it was perhaps the biggest variable in one’s life.

“But…”

“Couldn’t there be a better term for it? Why do I feel as if I’m really back in high school?”, Liora grumbled inwardly, though she continued listening attentively like the rest of the students.

“Alright. I won’t speak about the examination any longer. The reason the school called you over today is to give these things.”, Elena paused, waving her hand in the air before her.

A large number of objects emerged, forming a small mountain on the podium.

Although she stood at the very back, Liora immediately noticed that these items looked like metal helmets, except for the fact that they blended several futuristic elements.

Shining lights, blue touchscreens, and inexplicable flickering buttons covered their entire surface, making them similar to the props one would see in movies.

Of course, Liora knew very well these were not mere movie props.

Elena’s next words further confirmed this.

“You guys should have heard of these helmets before.”, she said, leaning down to pick up one of the many helmets.

Playing with it in her hand, she continued.

“These are the helmets designed by the Information World Company, commonly referred to as Virtual Helmets. They are the apex of human civilization’s technology.”

“As long as someone puts them on and activates them, they will be able to enter the Information World.”

Saying this, Elena casually waved her hand.

An inexplicable power emerged from her body and enveloped the helmets, guiding them into each student’s hands.

Liora also received one. As she reached out and picked it up, she felt a cool, prickly sensation against her fingers.

The Virtual Helmet was surprisingly heavy.

If it had not been for her increased strength, it was likely that she would have struggled to hold it and would have stumbled to the floor like her classmates.

“It truly deserves to be the culmination of human civilization’s millions of years of advancement. I’m afraid the value of a single helmet is equivalent to a Lesser Devil treasure.”, Liora judged.

This was nothing for her, who could easily tear apart worlds at her peak.

However, one had to know there were hundreds of such helmets in this classroom alone.

In the entire Nova Terra Planet, the government should hand out tens of thousands of them each year.

In a galaxy, this number would reach millions, while in the entire Human Federation…

Liora shook her head.

She could not comprehend such a large number, but she could roughly guess the wealth involved. A greedy glint immediately appeared in her eyes.

On the podium, Elena could not guess that her genius student had already set the Human Federation’s wealth as her goal.

Seeing that everyone had taken their Virtual Helmets, she smiled faintly and continued:

“The Information World is truly vast. It is akin to a second world that overlaps with our own, spanning the entire Human Federation. Though only one’s consciousness can enter, it is enough to do many things, among which is communication.”

“The Information World is one of the main reasons why the immature human race was able to grow into an apex race within just a few million years.”

“The benefits this world brings to our race are immense. Whether it serves as a communication tool, a platform for trading, or even a training ground, the Information World’s value is unimaginable.”

Although she was a Rank 2 Awakener, Elena had clear admiration when speaking about this world. Her eyes were bright and clear.

“Today, I will guide you through the method to activate the Virtual Helmet and enter the Information World.”, she said and began fiddling with the Virtual Helmet, giving instructions regarding its functions and abilities.

Half an hour later, after she had given a lengthy explanation, she called for the students to put them on.
