Chapter 371: Assira
Chapter 371: Assira
“Primordial Sin Temple, Slaughter Tavern, Destruction Cult, and above all, the City Lord’s Mansion…”
The names of these four organizations popped up in Liora’s mind as she recalled the short Devil’s earlier reminder.
According to him, these were the strongest organizations in the city, holding real administrative power over Hollow City.
Each of them was led by a peak Archdevil, and there were several Archdevils among their ranks.
The City Lord’s Mansion held the most transcendent status.
This was because this was an organization nominally under the name of the Hollow Ancestor, tasked with ensuring the city’s stable operation.
As such information resurfaced in her mind, Liora stared silently at the enormous building in front of her.
The building looked like a pavilion but also like a temple, while its high walls were covered in flickering blue stars, making them look like a painting of the starry sky.
A large plaque was erected above the entrance, and even though the words on it were written in a language that Liora could not understand, their meaning was conveyed directly in her mind.
Astral Pavilion—an organization introduced by the guide, famous for gathering and selling intelligence.
Its status was quite extraordinary, only lower than the four major organizations.
Since Liora had just arrived in the city, paying a visit to the Astral Pavilion was the first thing she did upon separating from the guide.
After all, she knew the importance of information.
She was no longer in a small world within the Origin Sea, but in the Demon World, where countless powerhouses gathered.
While in the Demon Weapon World, she could act recklessly, knowing that her many trump cards could ensure her survival.
But while in the Demon World, one had to know their limits. And to do so, gathering information about potential dangers was perhaps the most important thing.
As Liora thought of this, she raised her leg and stepped into the pavilion.
Immediately, her vision darkened.
Her consciousness captured a faint teleportation force acting on her body, and the next moment, she had appeared in a luxurious room.
The room was vast, seemingly a demi-plane of its own.
An enormous sofa made from the corpse of a Greater Devil-level creature stood at its center, as if it were made specifically for giants.
A smaller, unassuming wooden chair could be seen across the sofa, as a lone figure currently sat on it.
When Liora took her seat on the sofa and sized the figure up, her eyes shone with faint surprise.
The figure was a woman.
With long white hair and smooth but pale skin, she wore a long red dress that perfectly highlighted her curves.
Her golden eyes were somewhat teary, while she stared back at Liora with a frail look.
“Succubus!”, Liora instantly recognized this person’s identity, having come into contact with members of this race before.
While Liora was sizing her up, the white-haired succubus on the other side smiled and slightly lowered her head.
“The Astral Pavilion is really lucky to have welcomed Your Excellency.”
“My name is Assira. I’ll do my best to satisfy all of Your Excellency’s requests.”
As she spoke, the woman slightly leaned forward and revealed most of her bare cleavage as if inviting Liora to admire.
Her actions indeed attracted Liora’s attention.
However, she didn’t display any lust, but frowned instead.
She would not be fooled by Assira’s “unintentional” movements, nor did she let down her guard.
She could see that this person was a powerful Greater Devil.
Moreover, recalling how she had instantly appeared in the demi-plane without meeting any other people, Liora guessed that she should not be the only customer currently in the Astral Pavilion.
Most likely, there were several such demi-planes, each having a different receptionist in charge.
Assira fitted the characteristics of what Liora considered attractive.
Similarly, Liora believed that the other demi-planes should be the same, each catering to the preferences of the customers.
“Assuming that each demi-plane has a Greater Devil in charge, finding a person that suits the aesthetics of each customer should be nearly impossible. Yet, this seems to be the case at the moment.”
“The power of the Astral Pavilion is indeed extraordinary.”, she couldn’t help but sigh.
Suppressing her thoughts, she shifted her focus to Assira and nodded her head.
“I’ve heard that the Astral Pavilion conducts intelligence selling business.”
“I’ve just arrived in Hollow City, so I need some of the city’s basic information.”
“Also, I heard that there is a Devil wreaking chaos in the 173rd Demon Layer. If possible, I want all the relevant information.”
Assira did not show any surprise that her charm failed to capture Liora’s heart, nor was she offended by her straightforward behavior.
She pretended that nothing had happened and leaned back on the chair, crossing her legs and smiling slightly.
“Your Excellency has come to the right place.”
“I don’t dare to boast, but the intelligence gathering capabilities of the Astral Pavilion are unparalleled. Even the four major organizations cannot compete with us in this field.”, she said with pride in her voice.
But soon, her smile receded, and she frowned.
Biting her lower lip with her teeth, she showed a distraught look and continued:
“However, Your Excellency’s demands are a little excessive.”
“Although you seek ’basic’ information regarding the city, it’s difficult to satisfy your request just based on the large volume.”
“Moreover, such intelligence involves the information of dozens of Archdevils and thousands of Greater Devils.”
“Similarly, the Catastrophe Devil’s situation is quite complicated. Several extremely powerful beings are involved.”
Assira’s eyes darted around and didn’t dare to meet Liora’s, as if she were ashamed of her inability to satisfy Liora’s request.
However, Liora ignored her embarrassed look as she understood her hidden meaning:
Such information was very expensive.
If she wanted to get it, she had to pay a high price!
Liora rolled her eyes, feeling that she was being looked down upon.
Immediately, her consciousness dove into the Space orb she took a Greater Devil Chaos Heart out.
Then another, and a third one.
At first, Assira’s frown remained etched on her face. But as several hearts of Chaos Beasts appeared, this frown was soon replaced by a heartfelt smile.
“…Thankfully, Your Excellency does not have to worry. I shall take it upon myself to complete this deal.”, she said and patted herself, causing her chest to shake violently.
