Chapter 265: Conditions
Chapter 265: Conditions
The “fight” between Liora and the Violence Lord had not lasted for long, as they had only exchanged a couple of blows before the latter was seriously injured.
Yet, before Liora could make the decision whether to kill him, the True Devils staying in the city finally stepped forward.
There were several among them who were on bad terms with the Violence Lord, but they still emerged, unwilling to let Liora kill him like this.
Although Liora could not be certain about the exact relationship between these six powerhouses, it wasn’t hard for her to guess their reasoning.
She could understand why they wished to stop her.
The Violence Lord was one of the six Lords of Bloodflower City, after all.
If he were to die here at the hands of an outsider, the reputation of the city would be ruined.
Moreover, no one could be sure what Liora’s next course of action would be.
Would she leave after she took her anger out? Or would she attack them next?
None of them was willing to bet their own lives.
Having guessed these people’s thoughts, Liora restrained her surging demonic energy.
She raised her head and cast a glance at the person who had spoken up earlier, sizing them up.
The person who spoke was a woman who, like most people in Bloodflower City, was also human-like.
It was just that, unlike the Violence Lord, whose shape resembled that of a human but who actually looked more like a beast, this woman could easily pass as a human.
Like an ordinary person, she floated in the air and stared at her, making it impossible for one to guess that she was a Devil.
However, Liora was not fooled by her appearance.
The information that Kazrien had relayed earlier and what Alpha had collected emerged in her mind, and she pieced together this woman’s identity.
Slave Lord—was her title, and just like the Violence Lord, she also occupied one of the city’s main industries.
Despite her unassuming and easy-to-underestimate appearance, the Slave Lord was the owner of the largest slave market in Bloodflower City.
These slaves were not mindless beasts, but Devils, creatures native to the Demon World, and most importantly, beings of other worlds.
Since True Devils could invade other worlds, nothing was stopping them from smuggling a few people back during their return journey.
Thus, a prosperous market of trading slaves had unknowingly formed in the Demon World, permeating throughout every single one of its Layers.
Some of the people sold were powerful creatures, others were beings with special characteristics that made them stand out, while there were even some slaves captured specially for people with special hobbies.
Recalling this information, Liora would not let her guard down around this woman.
No matter how gentle she looked, the number of deaths she had caused and the amount of anguish she had brought to other people was unimaginable.
Of course, this didn’t mean that Liora was afraid of her.
While she was thinking, Liora’s eyes wandered around the other True Devils.
Among them was Kazrien, who, unlike his previous friendly attitude, was now on guard, looking ready to defend against potential attacks.
Liora didn’t mind.
She merely glanced at him and the other people for a few moments before shifting her gaze back to the Slave Lord.
“I wonder how you’re planning to resolve this misunderstanding…”, she stated, obviously referring to the Slave Lord’s earlier words.
Hearing her words, which showed hints of backing out despite not outright stating it, both the Slave Lord and the rest of the True Devils couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.
One of them, who seemed to belong to a race related to trees, took a step back and began healing the injuries of the Violence Lord, while the rest of them remained motionless, still facing Liora and ensuring that she would not attack.
Seeing that Liora made no further movements and showed no signs of stopping them, the Slave Lord relaxed somewhat.
“We’ve already learned of what happened earlier. Your Excellency’s anger is justified.”
“Although this is solely the Violence Lord’s fault for failing to control his subordinates, we, the Lords, are willing to band together and compensate Your Excellency for any possible damages.”
The rest of the Lords did not speak. But their silence signified a lot.
At the very least, the fact that they did not outright refute her words meant that they were willing to let her take the lead and supported her decision.
“We’re willing to offer you several resources helpful for the practice of Devil Techniques, including…”, the Slave Lord continued, listing a long catalogue of precious materials.
If any other True Devil were here, they would immediately be excited. Each of these things was extremely rare and could help a Devil undergo a massive transformation in strength.
Liora did not pay much attention to these items, however, though she was still inclined to take up the Slave Lord’s offer.
Not because she was tempted by all these items, but because these people in front of her were not the true rulers of Bloodflower City.
Liora had not forgotten that there was still a person who had yet to emerge, and that person happened to be the strongest in the city, the Greater Devil Duke Bloodflower.
Although the Duke had not shown up yet and had not even displayed any signs of being alive, Liora did not dare to ignore their existence.
She could almost be certain that if she were to kill any of these True Devils, that person would immediately show up, even if just to support another True Devil to take their position.
At that point, a fight between them was bound to happen.
Even though Liora had learned earlier that her power was stronger than she originally believed, this didn’t make her lose control of her emotions.
If anything, it made her even more cautious.
Before she personally witnessed the power of a Greater Devil and made sure that she could contend against them, she was unwilling to clash with the Duke.
“However, this doesn’t mean that I can’t get some benefits out of this situation.”, Liora thought inwardly.
Raising her hand, she interrupted the Slave Lord, who was still speaking, and proposed her own conditions.
“We can indeed resolve our differences. There is no reason for beings of our level to fight for no benefit.”
“However, I’m not interested in the things you mentioned. I’m willing to forgive the Violence Lord as long as…”
The Slave Lord and the other True Devils were happy when hearing the first part of her words.
But when it came to the last part, their expressions were replaced by frowns.
By the end of Liora’s conditions, these people found it hard to retain their composure, seething with anger.
Yet, they did not dare to attack.
