Chapter 249: Four Elements Token
Chapter 249: Four Elements Token
Liora felt that her skin was burning as if it had caught on fire, yet at the same time, it was being frozen.
The item felt heavy like a mountain, yet light like a passing breeze of wind.
These complicated feelings made her feel strange. But she soon woke up from them.
Ever more interested, she glanced at the token and began inspecting it, using her consciousness and any other probing means in her arsenal.
After a few minutes and several attempts, she came to a conclusion.
Although she could not recognize the material used to forge the token or the exact reason behind its extraordinary nature, she had deciphered its function.
“It is a key.”, Liora murmured.
To what? She didn’t know.
However, she could make an educated guess.
“Does this token lead to another treasure? Or perhaps it leads to the true, complete inheritance…”, Liora voiced her suspicions out loud.
Such a thing would have made her excited if it were an ordinary world.
However, considering that this place was the Demon World, she was hardly happy, much less thrilled about it.
After all, there were very few kind individuals among the Devil race.
Liora had only met the Blasphemer so far, who could hardly be considered an actual “kind” person.
Therefore, she found it difficult to believe that there were Devils kind enough to leave behind their inheritance for no reason.
Even if they did, they would leave it to their family, their companions, or at least to the members of the same Devil race.
Few people would leave it to destiny to choose, and Liora strongly doubted that she or the Gale Devil were the lucky ones.
“I’m afraid that this token either leads to a dangerous place like the Inferno Valley or a carefully laid out trap.”
Liora tended to believe the latter, though she didn’t rule out the former.
Devils were moody and had bizarre personalities, with many of them choosing to play pranks on other beings.
For such people, the chance to lead a person of the same race to their demise was a rather joyous event.
For a moment, Liora considered whether to throw this thing away.
But upon further thought, she chose to keep it for now.
“I can be certain that this thing has no tracking or any other functions.”
“Besides acting as a key for a hidden place, its only other extraordinary property is its superb toughness.”
“Perhaps it can be used to crush people to death.”, Liora couldn’t help but joke as her finger tapped against the token, producing a loud clanging sound.
Yet despite this, no trace of damage was left on the token.
Seeing this, Liora’s idea to keep it was further reinforced.
But first, she was ready to collect some more information regarding it.
This should have been a difficult thing, especially when considering that she did not even know what the so-called inheritance was, much less its actual location.
Fortunately, she knew someone who should know these things.
Holding the token, Liora’s mind moved, and she jumped into the Space Orb.
—
As Liora’s eyes landed on the surrounding clouds and the almost cramped space, she couldn’t help but shake her head.
Not much time had passed, yet the Space Orb’s demi-plane was finding it difficult to contain her ever-expanding belongings.
However, Liora did not feel emotional for long.
After only a couple of seconds, her gaze moved to her prisoners.
That’s right. Not one, but two.
Besides the Gale Devil, there was another person kept within the Space Orb.
It was none other than Diana, a member of the Holy Church, whom Liora had captured in the world of Knights.
Seeing her, Liora had to sigh about this person’s luck.
In fact, she had long forgotten about Diana’s existence.
The only reason she was still alive was not that Liora felt any pity towards her, but because she had yet to “clean” up this place.
“However, this woman is indeed quite lucky. Although she fell into my hands and became my prisoner, this indirectly saved her life.”
“Otherwise, her corpse would be rotting underneath by now. She would have died long ago, either during the Founding Emperor’s massacre of the capital or during the next sequence of events.”
For a moment, Liora did not know how to describe Diana.
To say that she was lucky was impossible. After all, she had become a prisoner, becoming a sleeping beauty.
But to say that she was unlucky was incorrect. After all, she was the only Knight still alive.
Thinking of this, Liora’s expression as she looked at the sleeping Diana became a little strange.
Perhaps out of bad taste, she really wanted to see this person’s expression when she learned that the Holy Church and the Iron Armor Empire were long gone, while she had “ascended” to the Demon World.
Suppressing her teasing thoughts, Liora shook her head. Her focus shifted to the other prisoner.
Although he was far stronger than Diana, and he should have fared way better, the treatment he received had also changed accordingly.
Compared to Diana, who was merely put to sleep, the fate of the Gale Devil was far worse.
Countless Devil Runes overlapped and formed arrays with him as the center, suppressing the strength of his physical body, his soul, and even his consciousness.
Though he was awake and must have noticed her, he showed no reaction to Liora’s arrival.
Not because he didn’t want to, but because he couldn’t.
Seeing this, Liora clicked her tongue. She could be certain that most of the arrays, especially the more cruel ones, were not her own doing but Alpha’s.
“Sure enough, you can not judge a person by their appearance.”, she muttered inwardly before waving her hand.
In response, the many arrays began deactivating one after another.
Only a heartbeat later, the eyes of the Gale Devil regained their original luster.
However, before he could breathe a sigh of relief, he saw Liora’s face towering over his figure.
