Chapter 389: The End of the Underground Palace
“Cheap tricks like this, and you think you can stop me?!”
Aiden let out a cold snort. A flash of extreme arrogance crossed his eyes.
He did not slow down even half a step. The vast, ocean-like Legendary Rank magic power inside him erupted with a thunderous force.
“Golden Sunfire, form!”
The brilliant golden divine flames in the air moved like soldiers obeying an order. In an instant, they compressed and wove together at high speed around the three of them.
With a loud hum, a massive golden bell of divine fire took shape. It was incredibly solid, with mysterious runes flowing across its surface, protecting the three of them at the very center.
Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!
Countless poisonous bone arrows struck the golden bell shield, creating deafening sounds of metal clashing against metal.
The Netherdeep Toxin was strong enough to corrode even the protective aura of a level 90 Venerable.
But before it could seep through, it was instantly burned into nothing by the extreme heat of the Golden Sunfire.
The black-gold spikes were sharp enough to pierce the scales of an ancient dragon.Yet the moment they hit the bottom of the golden bell shield, they were melted by the overwhelming heat and turned into pools of molten metal.
Aiden was like an unstoppable war god walking among mortals. He faced the deadly attacks from every direction and moved forward as if he were walking on flat ground.
Behind the team, the threat of death followed them just as closely.
The deathly energy from the full collapse of the underground palace had awakened the ancient undead sleeping even deeper below.
Hundreds of huge, stitched-together mutated undead were stepping over falling rocks and chasing after them like a raging tsunami.
“Get back to hell, all of you!”
Cheryl’s cold face was covered with a layer of icy frost. Killing intent filled her beautiful eyes.
The wide, shining ice wings on her back suddenly flapped. Bright blue light lit up the dark passage.
“Frozen Domain: Frozen Throne!”
A terrifying storm close to absolute zero swept backward from Cheryl, covering the entire passage behind them without mercy.
Crack!
A long series of freezing sounds rang out, sharp enough to make one’s teeth ache.
The mutated undead, each as huge as a small hill, did not even get the chance to roar. Their cries froze in their throats as they were instantly turned into clear, massive ice statues.
Under the violent shaking of the passage, hundreds of ice statues shattered with a crash, turning into icy powder that filled the air.
The three of them pushed forward like a blade through everything in their path. But when they were only five hundred meters from the exit, something changed.
The passage ahead had completely broken apart. A cliff of the Abyss, a hundred meters wide and so deep that no bottom could be seen, blocked their way.
Below the cliff, violent space currents tore through the air. If anyone was dragged in, even a god would be shredded into bloody mist.
“Damn it! The space structure here has completely collapsed. There’s no way to fly across!”
Rainn stopped. Her Origin Eye stared hard at the chaotic void, and a trace of paleness appeared on her beautiful face.
“Leave it to me!”
Cheryl stepped forward. She drained the magic power inside her body without holding anything back.
She slammed both hands onto the ground at the edge of the cliff. Bone-chilling cold poured wildly from her palms.
“Frost Mastery: Arctic Skybridge!”
Boom!
A dark blue ice bridge, shining like diamond, forcibly formed within the violent spatial currents at a speed visible to the naked eye. It stretched all the way to the other side.
“Go! The spatial currents are too strong here. The ice bridge won’t last more than three seconds!” Cheryl gritted her teeth. A thin line of blood had already appeared at the corner of her mouth.
“Stay close to me!”
Aiden did not hesitate at all. He wrapped one arm around Rainn’s slim waist, and the Nocturnal Boots under his feet burst with a deep, ghostly light.
Bang!
A sonic boom cloud exploded. Aiden moved almost like he had teleported, carrying Rainn across the hundred-meter gap in an instant and landing firmly on the other side.
Just as Cheryl was about to withdraw her magic and follow them onto the ice bridge—
Rumble!
A huge piece of the ceiling above the cliff came crashing down and struck the edge of the cliff perfectly.
The violent shock shattered the already unstable ice bridge in an instant.
“Ah!”
Cheryl suddenly stepped into empty air. Her body lost balance at once, and she fell toward the endless, violent spatial currents of the Abyss below.
The shadow of death completely covered her in that moment.
At this critical instant—
A brilliant golden streak of light, like lightning cutting through the night, shot back from the other side.
Most of Aiden’s body hung over the edge of the cliff. The Golden Sunfire lit up his face, making him look like a god descending to earth.
He thrust out his right hand, pushing through the violent currents, and grabbed Cheryl’s falling wrist tightly.
Bang!
The terrifying pulling force made the muscles in Aiden’s arm bulge at once. Even the surrounding space rippled visibly under that pure Strength.
“Hold on tight!”
Aiden let out a low roar and pulled with all his strength.
Cheryl felt an unstoppable, overwhelming force rush through her. Her body was yanked out of the Abyss like an arrow shot from a bow.
The next second, she fell hard into a broad, burning-hot chest that made her feel completely safe.
Cheryl looked up and stared blankly at Aiden, who was only inches away.
His sharp, chiseled profile and the deep, wild calm in his eyes seemed to burn themselves into her soul.
Cheryl’s heart started pounding out of control. It was not only because she had just survived death, but also because of the hot, powerful hand still holding hers tightly.
“Don’t space out. We’re not safe yet!”
Aiden pulled her to her feet. He had no time to enjoy the soft warmth in his arms. His gaze shot forward like a blade.
At the end of the passage, a faint blood-red light from the outside world finally came into view.
That was the exit of the underground palace!
However, the exit was sealed by a thick black-red barrier, heavy as a mountain. It was the final defensive shield of the forbidden zone in Miko City.
“It’s a Supreme Seal! If we force it open, it will take at least ten seconds!” Rainn shouted quickly. Behind them, the cliff was already collapsing on a large scale.
“Ten seconds? I don’t even want to wait one!”
Aiden laughed wildly. His crushing, unstoppable aura rose to its peak.
At that moment, the 10,000x Critical Hit system resonated madly inside him.
All of his Legendary Rank magic power, his Golden Sunfire, and the physical Strength powerful enough to smash mountains gathered into his right fist.
“Open for me!”
Aiden turned into an unstoppable hammer of divine punishment and slammed his fist into the unbreakable black-red barrier.
Boom!
It was as if a million-ton nuclear bomb had gone off in that narrow space.
The Supreme Seal, said to be strong enough to block a god’s attack, could not even last half a second under Aiden’s fist. It shattered like fragile glass.
Blinding light from the outside world poured into the passage at once.
“Go!”
Aiden charged ahead. Rainn and Cheryl followed close behind. The three of them turned into streaks of light and shot out of the exit into the sky.
The moment they leaped out of the underground palace—
Rumble!
The Abyssal Black Gold Palace behind them, buried for countless years and witness to endless killing and betrayal, finally met its end.
The ground collapsed violently. A huge sinkhole thousands of meters wide appeared in an instant.
Dust and a storm of destruction shot into the sky like a mushroom cloud from a nuclear blast, covering the entire sky above the forbidden zone of Miko City.
The violent shockwave roared beneath their feet like an evil dragon, pushing them back toward the surface they had not seen in so long.
The three of them landed steadily on a ruined area outside the forbidden zone of Miko City.
Even after surviving so many life-and-death situations, Rainn and Cheryl could not help but gasp for breath when they felt the cool air of the Abyss again.
Rainn turned around right away. The Origin Eye on her forehead quickly scanned the condition of all three of them.
Cheryl had a few shallow cuts on her arm from the spatial currents when she fell from the cliff. Other than using up too much magic power, she only had minor injuries.
“Cheryl, how bad are your injuries?”
Rainn asked in a serious voice, then looked toward Aiden.
The man who had smashed the Supreme Seal apart with his bare fist stood there in black clothes, without even a speck of dust on him. He was completely unharmed, and his breathing was as calm as if he had only taken a walk in the garden.
“I’m fine, Sister.”
Cheryl shook her head. The weight on her heart finally lifted, and she was just about to let out a long breath.
But at that moment, Aiden’s lazy gaze suddenly turned cold. His eyes swept across the broken walls and ruins around them like a sharp blade.
He raised his hand and moved Cheryl behind him, a bloodthirsty sneer curling at the corner of his mouth.
“Don’t relax yet. There are rats waiting for us.”
As soon as he finished speaking, strange waves of twisted space suddenly appeared in the silent shadows of the ruins around them.
Whoosh!
Whoosh!
Whoosh!
Twelve black figures, ghost-like and silent, appeared from every direction without warning, completely surrounding the three of them.
They all wore black robes with red clouds on them, and white bone masks with no facial features.
A thick aura of the Law of Death spread from their bodies, weaving into a suffocating net. These were clearly the ambushers Crow Miko had left behind before escaping.
The leader of the dark Miko death warriors slowly stepped forward. The magic power bursting from his body had clearly reached level 85.
“You’re tougher than expected. Even the collapse of the underground palace failed to bury you.”
The level 85 death warrior leader let out a rough, ugly laugh. His voice sounded like sandpaper scraping against glass.
“Lord Crow has given the order. Tear you to pieces. Kill without mercy!”
Facing these foul-smelling death warriors, Aiden did not even frown.
He casually rolled the wrist he had just used to smash the barrier. His knuckles cracked like popping beans.
“You two go rest on the side. Breaking out just now took too much out of you.”
Aiden tilted his head slightly, his tone wild and leaving no room for argument.
“They’re just a few bugs. I’m enough to handle them.”
“Aiden, aren’t you looking down on me a little too much?”
For once, Rainn refused Aiden’s protection. She stepped forward, and a majestic authority belonging to a Miko ruler appeared on her beautiful face.
“I’m a level 90 Venerable now. How could I hide behind you?”
