Chapter 281: The Wait Begins, But It Gets Interrupted

Chapter 281: Chapter 281: The Wait Begins, But It Gets Interrupted

Fresh, bright red blood slowly trickled across the golden floor.

Hazel watched the blood with utter despair. In that thick, clinging crimson, she saw the reflection of that Slaughter Demon.

“I was wondering why I felt so sick. Turns out it’s because there’s a pigfolk here,” Aiden said as he walked over. He quickly glanced at the human woman on the ground before locking eyes with the pigfolk Peter.

His original plan for this auction was to stay as low-key as possible.

After all, the AbyssHeartspire wasn’t The Black City. There was a high chance the AbyssDemon God could show up. If he acted too carelessly or drew too much attention, it could only cause unnecessary trouble.

But when Aiden saw the human woman’s head slamming repeatedly against the golden floor in a desperate attempt to kill herself, he couldn’t hold back anymore.

Before acting, however, Aiden tested something out. He confirmed he could still activate the long-distance teleportation effect of the Supreme Miko. Only then did he feel safe to approach.

Even so, he remained cautious. He didn’t try to save the human woman directly. Instead, he chose a method that was less likely to raise suspicion among the other Abyss creatures.

Thinking this, Aiden’s gaze shifted toward the pigfolk. His eyes quickly turned ice-cold, filled with undeniably murderous intent.

He continued, “The moment I see you, I’m reminded of all the companions you pigfolk have killed!”

“I want this human woman!”

The other Abyss creatures present were all briefly stunned. Except for the Ratfolk manager, Yasser. His eyes lit up instantly, but upon seeing Aiden’s gear, he quickly pulled himself back to normal.

“This Demon gentleman, all Abyss creatures who have entered Crownwave Guild are our most honored guests,” Yasser said smoothly.

“Before you arrived, this human woman was already claimed by Mr. Peter. You…”

Before the Ratfolk manager could finish his sentence, Aiden waved his hand impatiently, cutting him off.

Aiden cast a light, dismissive glance at Ratfolk Yasser. “I just can’t stand pigfolk. I just wanted to cause him a little trouble.”

“I’ll give Suncrest Mercantile a bit of respect, but surely even guests have ranks, right?”

Ratfolk Yasser nodded vigorously. He confirmed that guests at Suncrest Mercantile were indeed divided into three levels: Standard VIP, High VIP, and Super VIP.

And pigfolk Peter was a High VIP.

“Hmph, Slaughter Demon, don’t try to provoke me. If a Demon died at the hands of us pigfolk, there must be a good reason for it.”

Peter squinted his eyes, staring fiercely at Aiden as he spoke slowly. “This human woman is mine. I want her.”

Hearing this, Aiden breathed a sigh of relief. Half of his goal was achieved. The Abyss creatures here would only think he was causing trouble for the pigfolk and wanted the woman just to mess with them.

The rest of the plan would be much simpler from here on.

Aiden didn’t waste a single word. He pulled dozens of Legendary Rank materials directly from his storage space and casually dropped them onto the golden floor.

Instantly, every staff member from Suncrest Mercantile bowed their heads, eyes wide open, staring fixedly at the materials on the ground.

They all swallowed hard at the same time, their expressions full of greed. Ratfolk Yasser couldn’t help himself and took two eager steps toward the pile, his gaze utterly covetous.

Legendary Rank materials were hard currency in the AbyssHeartspire!

Although Suncrest Mercantile also had Mythic Rank materials, the quantity was far lower than that of Legendary ones.

Moreover, because Mythic Rank materials were so precious, most Abyss creatures preferred to settle auctions or trades using Epic Rank or Legendary Rank materials.

Of course, this applied to wealthy Abyss creatures. Ordinary ones usually paid with Diamond Rank or Starlight Rank materials.

Ratfolk Yasser took a deep breath, reluctantly tearing his eyes away from the Legendary Rank materials. He bowed deeply to Aiden and said respectfully, “My Lord, you certainly have the wealth to show off, but with only these…”

Before he could finish, Aiden impatiently pulled out several Mythic Rank materials and said:

“I was actually planning to spend a lot more here, but it seems Suncrest Mercantile’s service isn’t so great after all.”

“Never mind, I’ll just check out other guilds instead. Maybe I can find what I’m looking for more easily there.”

Aiden sighed. He pulled all the Legendary Rank materials from the floor and the Mythic Rank ones from his hand back into his storage space, ready to turn and leave.

Ratfolk Yasser’s pupils shrunk instantly, and his whole body began to tremble.

Seeing all those precious materials being taken away was as painful to him as being beaten to a pulp.

“Sir! Sir! Please, wait!” Ratfolk Yasser scrambled on his short legs, sprinting to Aiden’s side with incredible speed.

A smile of pure flattery spread across his face as he rushed to speak. “Sir, you misunderstand. Suncrest Mercantile respects every wealthy guest. Just wait a moment. I’ll arrange a private room for you right now and send Hazel to attend to you.”

Hearing this, Aiden stopped walking. He gave pigfolk Peter a smug look and laughed.

“Alright. Try to be quick. If I stay around this pigfolk any longer, I’m afraid I might lose my temper.”

Pigfolk Peter’s face turned a deep red. He clenched his fists, gritted his teeth, and shouted,

“Yasser, you better give me an explanation! That human woman was clearly mine to claim! Now you’re changing your mind?”

Yasser’s eyes darted around quickly. He immediately scurried over to Peter and said,

“Calm down, sir. Since that Demon guy stole your original target, why not choose a succubus instead? Channeling your anger at a fellow Demon’s kind must feel so much better, right?”

“Of course, succubi are official staff here, not slaves, so please try to be a little restrained. But I can guarantee that by your next visit, the human slaves we’ve fully trained will be available for you to pick however you like.”

Peter nodded stiffly. He shot Aiden a hateful glance, then pointed a finger directly at the curvy succubus.

“You! Damn it! I’m going to make sure you feel exactly what pigfolk anger feels like soon!”

The succubus’s face instantly pale. She never expected that the conflict between the Slaughter Demon and the pigfolk would somehow drag her into the mess.

Pigfolk Peter originally thought Aiden would be angry or annoyed, but after waiting a moment, he realized Aiden didn’t react at all.

“Hmph, it’s too late to regret now. I’ll take my anger out on your kind soon!” pigfolk Peter said.

Aiden ignored him and turned his gaze to the human woman on the floor, who was filled with despair.

“Let’s go. The auction is about to start,” Aiden said calmly.

A few minutes later, holding the controller for the slave collar, Aiden slowly followed Hazel into a sealed private room.

The facilities here were decent, but compared to the private rooms at a human guild’s auction, they were still a bit simple.

“Lord, please look at this. It shows items that will appear in the upcoming auction, though not all of them,” Hazel said.

“Of course, you can also search for more specific items you want.” Her voice was low, and her body trembled occasionally.

Since the moment she put on the slave collar, she had truly lost the right to die.

Even suicide was no longer an option.

Now, Hazel was completely hopeless. She looked at the Slaughter Demon before her, took a deep breath, and thought,

“If I can anger him, maybe he’ll kill me right then and there. Maybe I won’t have to suffer the torture and humiliation?”

Just then, she heard the Slaughter Demon ask:

“How private is this room?”

Hazel instinctively thought he was planning to humiliate her soon, so she took a nervous step back.

However, when she saw the black device in the Slaughter Demon’s hand, she quickly answered, “Don’t worry, all private rooms are completely cut off from the outside world. No one can enter without your permission.”

“Of course, if a special situation arises, the guild still has a way to force the door open.”

After saying that, Hazel closed her eyes in despair.

However, she waited, but no sound came.

Carefully, Hazel opened her eyes and looked at the Slaughter Demon. He had taken a cup of tea, wet his finger, and was writing something on the table.

“Could you introduce the auction process to me? Also, anything else I should know? This is my first time here,” Aiden said, winking at Hazel.

Hazel froze for a second, then walked over. She looked at the table while speaking.

[The Great Shaw Empire: Eira, the Elephant Empire: Xander.]

When Hazel saw those words, she stopped dead in her tracks, her eyes wide and her expression stunned.

“Does this Slaughter Demon know so much about humans?”

“No, wait… why is he being so careful? Could he be here to save me?” A spark of hope suddenly flashed in Hazel’s eyes.

She took a deep breath, bit her lip, and deliberately sat on Aiden’s lap. She wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling her face close to his.

“Who are you?” she whispered softly.

She had dreamed of escaping this place a thousand times, but now, for the first time, she actually saw hope.

Bang! Bang!

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, and Ratfolk Yasser’s voice rang out from outside the room.

“Sir, hello. I’m terribly sorry, but before the auction starts, there are a few things we need to ask you about.”
