Capítulo 2864: Chapter 1568: Questions in the Grand Hall (2)
Prince Chasing Shadow maintained a respectful posture, speaking without hesitation.
After speaking, he intended to inquire about something, but after much consideration, he swallowed his words.
“You want to ask why I agreed to assist the Emperor of the Human Race, don’t you?”
The Dark Half-Elf Queen immediately sensed the other’s doubt and gently arched her eyebrows.
“Nothing escapes My Queen.”
Prince Chasing Shadow bowed his head, almost level with the dark boots of the Dark Half-Elf Queen, and nodded heavily.
“There’s no specific reason, just a curiosity about how far this suddenly arrived Otherworldly Lord can go in the Outer Region.”
The Dark Half-Elf Queen shrugged her shoulders and said nonchalantly, “This fellow has already taken control of the Human Clan’s Saint Night Kingdom, cleverly not breaking my oath with the Saint Night Royal Family, but has indeed piqued my interest.”
“I must say, there aren’t many who can catch My Queen’s interest, not even those princes and nobles standing atop the peak of the Ten Thousand Clans’ first-class forces.”
Despite Prince Chasing Shadow’s inner admiration, the confusion on his steadfast face still lingered. Again, he seemed ready to speak but hesitated, saying, “My Queen, it seems the Emperor of the Human Race has already begun to doubt your identity.”
“Chasing Shadow, you want to ask why I posed that abrupt question at the end, don’t you?”
The Dark Half-Elf Queen looked down at him, smiling faintly, “The Emperor of the Human Race is quick-witted, no ordinary person. Even if I hadn’t mentioned it, he would soon detect something, just as you’ve increased the level of alertness here on your own accord.”
“Forgive me, My Queen, I only sought to ensure your safety!”
Prince Chasing Shadow, who had intended to stand, hurriedly bowed his head again, trembling.
“If I were to blame you, would you still be standing here? I’m merely reminding you to be more cautious in the future.”
The Dark Half-Elf Queen maintained her lazy tone, “It’s a minor issue if the Emperor of the Human Race notices something, but if those cunning hypocrites, the Light Elves, detect anything, a fierce battle will soon descend upon us. Though I do not fear the Light Elves, I certainly won’t let them seize the initiative.”
“As for that Emperor of the Human Race, rather than letting him realize something on his own, it’s better to intentionally plant a seed of doubt, making him unsure of his original assumptions.”
“Remember, whether friend or foe, always leave yourself some leeway.”
Hearing this, Prince Chasing Shadow nodded thoughtfully, suddenly enlightened, “Your Majesty is absolutely right; I was foolish. It turns out everything was done deliberately by Your Majesty. Everything is within your expectations.”
“Alright, you’re not the type to flatter, don’t force yourself into an unfamiliar role.”
The Dark Half-Elf Queen waved her hand slightly, “Don’t forget the purpose of my visit here, the item needs to be promptly prepared, as those sly Light Elves are already beginning to stir.”
“Rest assured, My Queen, after all, the black tear brought back by that Light Half-Elf Princess not long ago has successfully unlocked the last chain.”
Prince Chasing Shadow clasped his chest in salute, confidence tinging his voice.
“Very well, it’s getting late, I should be on my way.”
The Dark Half-Elf Queen stood up, shadowy figures of masked black-clad guards appeared like phantoms from the darkness, respectfully surrounding her.
The presence of these black-clad guards was overwhelmingly intimidating, nearly suffocatingly terrifying, causing the very space of the great hall to warp severely, like endless spirals rotating in darkness; before them, the half-step Tier 7 Prince Chasing Shadow was as weak as an ant.
Shortly after, with a flicker, the Dark Half-Elf Queen disappeared with her guards from the scene.
As she left, the slightly pointed ears of the Dark Half-Elf Queen briefly elongated in the shadows, leaving behind only a fragmentary phrase echoing in the great hall.
“Hehe, I’m indeed somewhat looking forward to the Emperor of the Human Race’s next moves. I hope he doesn’t disappoint me.”
…
“Saintess Madam, thank you for your assistance; it made this journey so smooth.”
At the main gate of Ice Stone City, Leo Ray nodded to Terray.
Before leaving the territory of the Dark Half-Elf for other second-tier powers, the first task Leo Ray needed to accomplish was to escort Terray back to the Moon Palace.
“Your Majesty is too kind; I barely offered any help.”
Terray smiled and waved her hand, then slightly furrowed her delicate brows and said, “I just feel that the Dark Half-Elf Queen has an indescribable familiarity, as if I’ve seen her before, but I can’t be certain.”
“Oh? Saintess Madam, you say you’ve seen her before? Where might that have been? Was it in the Dark Elf Kingdom?”
Hearing Terray’s words coinciding somewhat with his own suspicions, Leo Ray immediately inquired.
“Apologies, Your Majesty, her appearance was too vague to discern. It’s just a feeling I have,”
After pondering with furrowed brows for a moment, Terray ultimately shook her head helplessly and said, “It might be that I’ve seen her during one of the Dark Half-Elf Kingdom’s celebrations; back then, I was entirely focused on my duties as a priest, not particularly noticing other things. Perhaps it was during one of those times that the Dark Half-Elf Queen quietly arrived, passing by unbeknownst to me.”
“Understood, then please, Saintess Madam, await my good news.”
Seeing the perplexed look on Terray’s fair face, Leo Ray merely offered a gentle smile.
“Your Majesty, the Throne Corridor is by no means an easy opponent. Even though the various second-tier powers are exceedingly dissatisfied with them, everyone harbors their own intentions, with none willing to stand as the vanguard. Gathering these scattered forces in a short time seems no easy task.”
Concern washed over Terray’s face again, and she nodded to Leo Ray.
“Rest assured, I’ve considered all these.”
Leo Ray maintained a faint smile, watching her return to the Moon Palace.
Afterwards, Leo Ray, accompanied by Lila and Hollis, under the cover of night, visited several realms of second-tier powers in succession.
Owing to the good relations between these realms’ monarchs with Lila and Hollis, Leo Ray achieved cooperation with their assistance without much effort.
Since the hour was late, Leo Ray and his party rested in Ice Stone City until dawn before continuing their journey.
“Your Majesty, the next few forces are formidable adversaries; even though they too suffer under the Throne Corridor’s suppression, persuading them will likely not be easy.”
In Ice Stone City’s Command Hall, Lila’s brows were knit tightly as she pointed to a broad coastal area on the magic sandbox, saying, “Especially the shoal Fishmen there, they are extremely cunning creatures.”
After Lila spoke, Hollis also nodded in agreement, his brows furrowed.
In times past, during regular trade among the Throne Corridor’s members, these shoal Fishmen frequently exploited various means to gain the upper hand, antagonizing many forces.
“Your Majesty, perhaps we should skip them; this group is untrustworthy, especially the Broken Wing King who harbors ill-will towards them, even considering them as enemies. If not for their production of certain water attribute heavenly treasures, the Broken Wing King might have already wiped them out.”
Hollis nodded to Leo Ray, suggesting, “Dealing with these folks always leaves one feeling uneasy.”
“No, quite the opposite; this means we absolutely must go.”
Leo Ray smiled lightly, responding, “The enemy of our enemy is indeed our friend, isn’t it? If they’re merely concerned with interests, then they couldn’t be a better target to handle.”
Having said that, Leo Ray nodded to Elder Bing, and with a flash of blue light, Ice Stone City stood upon a vast, desolate beach.
However, the scene that followed took everyone by surprise.
