Capítulo 2379: Chapter 1318: Each to Their Own Battlefield (Part 1)
In the blinding flames outside the entrance, faces with tightly closed eyes sometimes came into focus, and sometimes faded, but the one constant was the increasingly pale tone of their faces, which undoubtedly meant that the soldiers’ mana was being rapidly depleted.
“The power of the Dragon Breath is indeed astonishing. Fortunately, Your Majesty of the Humans provided tens of thousands of energy-replenishing Magic Medicines. Although the mana is depleting quite fast, it seems that we can at least hold on for some time, for now.”
Crisis thought, turning her head to look at the other end of the entrance position.
There was no battle occurring there; one could only see the shadow of a giant tree battling fiercely with the Golem Puppets in the depths.
Meanwhile, the Dwarf Soldiers continued to reinforce through the Teleportation Gate, rapidly gathering in formation and advancing to reinforce the entrance, albeit one at a time, making the pace somewhat limited.
“Though the speed is slow, at least reinforcements are joining us.”
Just as Crisis thought of this, an urgent magic communication resounded: “Clan Leader, the number of Golem Puppets attacking from the depths of the entrance of Nest Number 2 is increasing, reaching nearly ten thousand! This far exceeds our combat capability!”
“What? I’m heading over right away!”
Upon hearing this, Crisis could no longer pay attention to the reinforcing Dwarf Soldiers and flew directly towards the Teleportation Gate in the opposite direction.
Thanks to her small stature, Crisis could pass through the upper portion of the door where the Dwarves only reached halfway.
Upon returning to the Ice Stone City Gate, Crisis had no time to greet the other Dwarf Elves and made her way directly to the Teleportation Gate leading to the entrance of Nest Number 2.
Although this was slightly troublesome, it undoubtedly was the best way to rapidly maneuver among the three Wood Fairy positions.
Barging into the Wood Fairy ground of Nest Number 2, the booming sound of the Magic Cannon immediately entered Crisis’s ears.
Following the sound, Crisis noticed that the situation here was distinctly different from the first battlefield.
At the entrance of the nest, the Dragon Flames were relatively sparse, the attacks not as dense, and the forces were relatively limited, while on the other side, Magic Radiance and sharp arrows crossed—both sides were in fierce combat.
Just as the report had described, outside the Barrier Wall, towering Golem Puppets stretched endlessly towards the depth of the nest, almost beyond sight.
The Wood Fairy soldiers had set up rows of Magic Cannons, forming a mixed formation with the Archers led by the Dwarf Soldiers, pouring a dense barrage of attacks towards the enemy.
However, despite the impressive attack power of our side’s line, the enemy’s flame-patterned armor had astonishing defense power, like unstoppable giant steel soldiers, carrying Giant Shields, steadily advancing through dense artillery fire, retaliating with arrows and spears, striking the Barrier Wall with a crackling sound.
Among the showers of attacks, only Tier 5 or above experts could instantly obliterate these tough iron soldiers, but as soon as one squad fell, another would immediately replace them, seemingly endless.
“Earth Spear Dragon Smite!”
Witnessing this scene, Crisis waved her Magic Wand, instantly conjuring a dozens of meters long giant earth spear, bursting straight into the enemy’s camp.
Wherever the sharp giant spear went, the robust Golem Puppets shattered like paper, in an awe-inspiring spectacle, piercing through the entire densely packed enemy formation.
Yet, as the giant spear disappeared into the depths of the nest, the opening in the enemy’s formation was immediately filled again, Crisis even noticed in surprise.
Without the Summoning Array lighting up, those fragmented enemy Golem Puppets were slowly reconstructing in place, never dissipating completely.
“Is this… could it be that only a top-tier mana crystal can create a Golem Puppet maintenance array?”
Astonished, Crisis soon noticed the complex Magic Patterns on the walls of the Dragon Nest.
“Clan Leader, it’s indeed the Golem Puppet maintenance array!”
Aubert had arrived, confirming to Crisis: “I noticed it earlier. With the maintenance array for the Golem Puppets, these Golem Puppets will always maintain an unending number!”
“So, must we first find a way to break the maintenance array?”
Crisis furrowed her brow, flying towards the top of the nest, attempting to sense the position of the Array Eye.
“It’s useless, Clan Leader. The Array Eye is not at the entrance of the Dragon Nest, but in an unfathomable depth. This is merely the edge of the extended array!”
Aubert shook his head helplessly, responding: “I’ve tried many times earlier, even if we destroy the Magic Patterns on the cave wall, the array would immediately auto-repair, unless we destroy the Array Eye deep in the bottom.”
“In that case, must we hold our ground here? Well, the space here is narrow, the tens of thousands of Tier 4 Puppets cannot fully unfold. At least before our mana is exhausted, we may not be at a disadvantage!”
Crisis’s furrowed eyebrows relaxed, nodding to Aubert: “Let the Wood Fairy soldiers stop attacking and focus on supplying energy to the Absolute Defense Barrier, while the Archers’ task of attacking will be left to the Dwarves, which could at least delay the opponent’s attack to some extent!”
With that said, Crisis and Aubert notified the Dwarves and executed the orders, moving into action separately.
Crisis clearly realized that this was not the main attacking direction of the external Red Dragons; defense pressure on the other side was relatively minimal. Even if these Golem Puppets couldn’t be eradicated, so long as they maintained the Absolute Defense Barrier intact, it would undoubtedly alleviate Leo Ray’s pressure greatly.
However, just as Crisis finished communicating with the Dwarves’ leaders, an unforeseen change occurred.
The external dragons, who had fiercely attacked the first position, seemed to have realized something and a considerable part shifted direction, beginning to attack the other two nest entrances simultaneously, including Position 2.
In an instant, scorching streams of Dragon Breath pierced through the fog, exploding on the Barrier Wall behind Crisis, forming an immense curtain of fire covering the entrance.
Moreover, densely packed firestone creatures appeared on the external ground, instantly increasing the defensive pressure on the other side.
Under the dual assault of the dragons and Golem Puppets, the Magic Flow Light flickering on the Barrier Wall visibly dimmed significantly, and taken by surprise, the slightly trembling small Wood Fairies providing energy quivered as well.
This wasn’t the end; in mid-air within the depth of the cave, countless shadows appeared, a new group of winged Flame Armor Magical Golems racing in, crashing towards the Barrier Wall like meteors.
Before Crisis could respond, a similar situation was occurring at the Number 3 position.
“Clan Leader, it seems the opponent is dying to breach our defensive line.”
Aubert’s old face was solemn, frowning as he asked: “What should we do now? The situation at Position 3 seems even worse than here.”
“The more they want to breach here, the less we can let them succeed!”
Crisis didn’t hesitate, waving her small hand: “No matter what the cost, we must protect Your Majesty of the Human’s back!”
Upon hearing Crisis’s words, both the Wood Fairies and the Dwarves nodded heavily, their faces reflecting resolute determination, ready to face death.
At the same time Crisis led the Wood Fairies in the battle, with Leo Ray’s steps, the Treants also blocked the intersections throughout the nest, preventing the internal dragons from circling back to ambush Leo Ray’s party advancing deeper.
Especially at the first position Leo Ray and his party had passed through, numerous Treant soldiers were already fiercely battling the endless Alchemy Puppets, the scene incredibly intense.
Most crucially, the dispersed Treants lacked the protection of an Absolute Defense Barrier, while the dragons roused throughout the nest were already perilously close to them.
