Chapter 2099: 1174: Entering the Ancient Castle of Darkness (Part 2)
Chapter 2099: Chapter 1174: Entering the Ancient Castle of Darkness (Part 2)
No one knows what will happen if the other party successfully completes their plan.
But what is certain is that, judging by the extreme and reckless means employed by the other party, the Human World is bound to experience a catastrophe greater than any since the Era of Blankness.
“That damned Gusta must have closed all the formations when he left, deliberately trapping us here!”
White clenched his fists, his face full of sorrow, and said, “They not only took away the residents of the Royal Capital but also took away our hope of escaping alive!”
After White finished speaking, the other Grim leaders also gritted their teeth but felt helpless, all lowering their heads.
“Now is far from the time to give up.”
Leo Ray’s calm voice echoed in everyone’s ears: “Perhaps hope still exists in this vast Underground City.”
“But just the residential area and street area here are enough to easily accommodate thousands of legions. Our numbers are extremely limited, so where should we start searching?”
Louise’s small face was full of frustration, weakly saying, “We can’t possibly search room by room, right? Even if we find it in the end, it might already be too late.”
“Miss Louise, don’t worry. Let’s not forget the big guy above us.”
Leo Ray forced a smile, uncertain in his heart but still said, “Since this is the Royal Family’s castle, it is naturally the central control of this underground city. Perhaps the way out is within it. It seems we have no choice but to explore this Inverted Castle.”
Hearing Leo Ray’s words, the originally low-spirited group rekindled a sense of hope and nodded enthusiastically.
“But the Black Castle is on the high dome, at least hundreds of meters high. How are we supposed to get up there?”
White looked up at the gigantic black silhouette and involuntarily swallowed.
Such height is beyond the reach of even these physical-type powerhouses, let alone ordinary magic-type Tier 5 powerhouses.
In the entire team, only Red Night, Catherine, and Louise seemed at ease.
Being of the Dragon Clan, Red Night was extraordinary even in human form, while Catherine and Louise had the special constitution of the Blood Clan, making it easy for them as well.
“Don’t worry, I have a way.”
Leo Ray smiled faintly and slightly turned his palm, revealing a pile of black and purple scrolls.
These scrolls did not stack on Leo Ray’s palm but hovered in mid-air, appearing quite magical.
“Are these incredibly rare Gravity Magic Scrolls?!”
White was initially stunned, then quickly reacted.
“That’s right. Sealed within them is a special spell called ‘Gravity Walk,’ which allows us to walk on any surface like a gecko. Not only can we scale walls, but reversing gravity is also no problem.”
Leo Ray raised an eyebrow and explained, “With this special spell, the Inverted Castle is no different from a normal castle.”
“I didn’t expect His Royal Highness to be able to produce such amazing magical scrolls.”
White’s old face was full of astonishment, cautiously asking, “But this must be very valuable, right?”
“It’s fine, just a regular Tier 5 scroll, nothing significant.”
Leo Ray distributed the scrolls while smiling lightly.
This Magical Scroll was one of the treasures Eckhart recently offered from the Verdant Kingdom’s collection. Its mass increase upgrade naturally gave Leo Ray the luxury to use it freely.
As one after another streaks of black and purple magical luminescence flashed by, feeling suddenly lighter, Leo Ray and his group, empowered by the ‘Gravity Walk’ spell, flew out directly towards the Inverted Castle.
As the gale caused by their swift movement subsided, when the group stepped onto the ground of the Black Ancient Castle, everything already appeared as normal.
“From a regular perspective, this gigantic castle is still extremely majestic and imposing.”
Catherine’s starry eyes twinkled, and looking at the towering black architectural silhouette ahead, she couldn’t help but exclaim, “I fear there are no such massive structures on the surface nowadays, right?”
“Not necessarily. Perhaps in the not-too-distant future, castles of such scale will still appear.”
Leo Ray smiled faintly and took a step.
What Leo Ray referred to, naturally, was his Lord’s Mansion.
Although due to a lack of rare building resources, the Lord’s Mansion had not been upgraded for a while.
But Leo Ray believed that as long as they get through this crisis, everything would surely step up another level.
After saying this, Leo Ray refocused, nodding to everyone, “Let’s keep moving forward.”
Passing through the weathered relics of the ancient courtyard, the group soon reached the entrance to the Black Ancient Castle.
The outer sluice gate of the castle was half-open, and the double-leaf metal gate inside was cracked open a small gap.
Despite this tiny gap being insignificant for the gigantic castle, it was enough for two or three people to pass through side by side for the relatively small group.
“My Lord, allow us to scout ahead.”
Void, Taylor, and Red Night stood in front of Leo Ray, followed closely by the three Stone Spirits, while Jasper Richardson stayed by Leo Ray’s side, ready to use teleportation magic at any moment.
As for Louise, she was eagerly positioned at the front line, with Catherine and White in the rear of the group.
“Caution above all.”
Leo Ray nodded slightly and stepped forward again.
With more than ten magic spheres venturing in first, the group cautiously stepped into the mysterious and ancient Black Ancient Castle.
Their boots raised heavy dust as the ethereal sound of their footsteps echoed in the vast Castle Hall. Under the illumination of the magic spheres, Leo Ray looked around in awe.
The hall was at least the size of a football field, virtually a small square.
In the center of the hall, a large fountain themed with wolves leaping on a mountain peak was extremely eye-catching.
Though the entire fountain had weathered with time and appeared mottled,
one could still discern the mixed white and red fluffy fur on the wolves and the gray and earthy-yellow of the mountain peak.
“My Lord, that’s likely the Ice Fire Wolf, a Demon Beast that went extinct during the Era of Blankness.”
Red Night, already standing by the fountain, observed for a moment before explaining to Leo Ray: “It seems to be the beast depicted in the emblem of this ancient kingdom.”
“Now that you mention it, we did see many wolf emblems along the way.”
Louise also circled around the fountain, thoughtfully saying, “But there seem to be more than just wolf emblems here.”
She then pointed to two other smaller fountains nearby, “Over there are two other styled fountains, which also look like the beasts depicted in their emblems.”
Following Louise’s finger, Leo Ray further observed.
Indeed, just as she suggested, the other two fountains depicted a griffin holding a dragon claw and a pelican holding a dragon claw.
Looking at the two small fountains surrounding the wolf, Leo Ray couldn’t help but squint his eyes.
He felt he had seen the patterns depicted on these fountains somewhere before, but he couldn’t recall immediately.
Just as Leo Ray was trying to search his mind for the clues, the vast Castle Hall suddenly shook violently for no reason.
Next, an extremely ancient energy wave surged out, stirring up dense dust in the air.
Before the group could react, an excited old voice abruptly rang in their ears: “Ha ha ha, my child, you have finally returned!”
