Everyone Fought for Weapons, I Planted Bean Sprouts
Chapter 118 - 107: Taking Taichiro Up the Mountain
Chapter 118: Chapter 107: Taking Taichiro Up the Mountain
With a new guest in the house, Huai Yu slept very soundly through the night. Waking up early and stepping onto the morning dew, the very first thing she did was greet Ke Taichiro.
"Taichiro, are you getting used to being here?"
Ke Taichiro flapped its wings and walked right out from behind the door curtain. Its two antennae curled slightly, appearing quite content. Although it couldn’t speak or make any sound, for some reason, just looking at it gave off a sense of emotional stability.
Relieved, Huai Yu asked curiously, "Aside from various flowers and plants, do you need to eat anything else? Do you want some more dried bamboo shoots?"
She rummaged through her pockets and pulled out the remaining half piece of dried bamboo shoot from yesterday. Ke Taichiro obediently took it, but didn’t immediately stuff it into its mouth, presumably not liking it very much. But even so, it didn’t refuse or resist. Wow, the more she looked at it, the more well-behaved it seemed!
Huai Yu couldn’t help but stroke its outer shell again before checking the time. "I promised to take you up the mountain today, but it’s only a bit past seven. I’ll go check on the vegetable garden first."
It had been half a month since the vegetables were planted in the field. Now, both the yams and sweet potatoes had sprouted fresh, bright green vines. The cowpeas, which Huai Yu had exceptionally high hopes for, were growing in especially lush clusters. However, there hadn’t been much change over the past two days. She didn’t know if they were green cowpeas, white cowpeas, or red cowpeas, but regardless, their slow growth was proof that they needed to be trellised.
During this time, Big Pup and Second Pup had poked down so many bamboo stalks that were now piled up haphazardly behind the house. Whittling them down for use wouldn’t take much effort at all.
Huai Yu mentally assessed the workload, then went to inspect the peppers, cucumbers, peanuts, and soybeans one by one. Only then did she feel completely at ease. Inspecting the vegetable garden every morning had become an indispensable task for her—after all, this was her hard-won empire!
She skipped back to the house joyfully, brewed herself a pot of Bamboo Heart Tea, and then earnestly prepared a hearty breakfast of wild vegetables. Only then did she hear the Wilderness’s daily 8:00 a.m. broadcast:
"Today is April 27, 2066. Cloudy. Air pollution index: 7..."
Accompanied by the broadcast, Huai Yu dutifully pulled out her notebook, jotted down the time, and then wrote out her pending schedule:
"Need to go to Golden Yuan District to buy some fast-growing vegetable seeds.
"Need to take Ke Taichiro up the mountain for a look.
"It would be best to also buy some cement and sand..."
After some thought, she crossed out the cement and sand. Those materials were simply too heavy. Lugging them back bag by bag would waste too much time. Besides, since Big Pup and Second Pup had snapped so much bamboo, she could just use that bamboo to build a shower room under the barnyard grass tree.
Additionally, the vegetable seedlings had only been slightly stimulated initially and hadn’t been purified. She would have to find time to do that. But there was no rush. Didn’t they say the market would close for a week during the Labor Day holiday? She could do it then, along with trellising the vegetable garden.
Also, there was the other barnyard grass tree by the pond that hadn’t changed at all... Did she need to stimulate its growth as well? Oh, and the lotus roots she had planted earlier were quite expensive. It felt like stimulating them would be much safer.
She picked up her pen and noted down these tasks one by one. Only then did she consider an important question. The lotus roots should be like the stable vegetable seeds currently available. They wouldn’t suddenly mutate like the barnyard grass tree, right?
This doubt surfaced in her mind for a moment, but then Huai Yu remembered the Water Ability User at the artificial lake in Golden Yuan District, and she immediately felt reassured. If they were prone to severe mutations, that person wouldn’t have planted such a massive patch of them!
She closed the notebook, having laid out a plan for what she needed to do next.
After tidying up, Huai Yu walked to the door. Ke Taichiro was still obediently resting in its nest. Overnight, the large white porcelain bowl in the room had accumulated another seven or eight rainbow balls. Huai Yu retrieved the bowl and, right in front of Taichiro, placed the balls into her glass jar one by one. She then held the jar and gave it a shake. Seeing the colorful Klang Balls rattling around inside and producing a soft RUSTLE, she couldn’t help but feel delighted.
How beautiful! Ke Taichiro was truly amazing!
However, she was a bit curious. "Why are you called Ke Taichiro? It sounds like a name from Fusang Country."
But this name didn’t seem like Boss Tang’s style either. Perhaps its original owner, Gao Ming, had come up with it. In that case, Huai Yu had no room to complain. After all, Taichiro was raised by him. Thinking of this, she felt slightly regretful. Ke Taichiro was truly well-behaved and provided such a great sense of companionship.
After some thought, she left one ball in the bowl, much like leaving an egg in a hen’s nest.
Taichiro’s antennae curled slightly, as if it wanted to move. It seemed that having only a single ball in such a large, empty bowl made it look less than diligent.
