Chapter 104: Chapter 98: Ke Taichiro’s Tea

Boss Tang and Huai Yu exchanged a glance, offering a dry, hollow laugh.

Meanwhile, Uncle Zaozi picked up the gaiwan to pour them some tea. After a moment’s thought, he let out a regretful sigh and instead brought them each a glass of plain water.

Then, bringing out a glass of his own, he stared at the golden-yellow liquid inside and couldn’t help but take a deep breath. "Ah, this aroma..."

"Um..." Huai Yu tried again. "Uncle Zaozi, I really haven’t had this tested yet... How about I go get it tested and come back?"

Uncle Zaozi glanced at her, sighed while shaking his head, and gently took a sip of the tea from his cup.

At that moment, both Huai Yu and Boss Tang widened their eyes and held their breath, staring intently at his face. They watched as Uncle Zaozi closed his eyes, gently swallowed the tea, and let out a heartfelt sigh.

"Good tea!"

He glanced at the two of them again, clicking his tongue and shaking his head. It wasn’t until he had downed the entire glass that he let out a heavy sigh.

"It’s not easy... to still be able to drink tea these days... Say, Little Sister Yu, you didn’t get your two brothers to somehow procure this for you as well, did you?

"Were you planning to sell this? Just name a price."

Huai Yu shook her head decisively. "I’m not selling! I really don’t have much of it..."

Before she could finish, Uncle Zaozi suddenly clutched his stomach. "ARGH... I need to use the restroom... Um, Little Yu, could you and your friend watch the store for a bit?"

Huai Yu instantly grew nervous. "Does your stomach hurt? Does it hurt a lot?"

Uncle Zaozi simply waved his hand and hurriedly rushed into the restroom, leaving the two of them staring at each other in dismay.

"Could it have made him sick?"

Boss Tang looked at the dark-green crushed bits in the gaiwan, suddenly unsure. "I don’t know... Little Yu, if something really went wrong, I’ll help pay for the medical bills... but you absolutely cannot tell anyone about Ke Taichiro!"

Gao Ming was always creating these weird, bizarre things. If he caught someone’s attention and was labeled a mad scientist, his reformation period would probably drag on for much longer!

Besides, he had been raising Ke Taichiro for almost a week now. Aside from being a bit of a neat freak, Taichiro was a good Taichiro... If it was taken away, it couldn’t even speak up for itself. How could Boss Tang bear such a thing!

Huai Yu also nodded solemnly. She was starting to regret feeling so stifled earlier, which had led her to dump out so many Taichiro Balls all at once.

Five minutes later, Uncle Zaozi emerged with a relaxed expression. Upon seeing Huai Yu, he exclaimed, "Good tea! Such good tea!"

He rubbed his flat stomach, his face a portrait of pure satisfaction. "You have no idea how long I’ve been constipated. Just now in the restroom... Oh my! Oh my!"

Uncle Zaozi slapped his thigh and said earnestly, "Little Yu, seeing as you really don’t like this tea, how about you sell it to me? Don’t worry, your uncle can afford the price!"

Huai Yu was dumbfounded. ℴ

Looking over at Boss Tang, she saw he was equally dumbfounded.

The two racked their brains, taking quite a bit of effort before they finally managed to extricate themselves from Uncle Zaozi.

Huai Yu stared at the clusters of black balls in the basket and asked Boss Tang, who wore a conflicted expression, "Are you going to sell them? If you are, I’ll give them back to you."

Boss Tang sighed and shook his head repeatedly. "What a sin..."

He stubbornly refused to accept making money this way, so the basket of Klang Balls ended up being carried away by Huai Yu after all.

Upon returning home, she looked at the basket of black balls—originally intended only as compost fertilizer—and felt a bit conflicted herself. She didn’t want to drink it herself, but since Uncle Zaozi liked it so much, wouldn’t it be a bit of a waste to just bury it in the dirt as fertilizer?

After some thought, Huai Yu filled a bag and carried it to the bamboo grove behind her house.

The bamboo grove was still a mess. New bamboo shoots and thoroughly smashed bamboo shoots were mixed together, with numerous bamboo stalks knocked over haphazardly all around. However, in the center of the grove, the fierce battle of Whack-a-Mole seemed to have ceased.

Seeing her, the two goslings ran over while honking, HONK HONK HONK. Their spindly long legs supported chubby, sea-urchin-like bodies, a sight that was almost too painful to look at. But they were truly growing too fast. It had only been a day or two in total, yet their bodies had already bulged another size.

If only the soybeans in the field could grow at this speed without needing growth-accelerating abilities!

Looking at them, Huai Yu crouched down and opened the bag. "This... do you want to eat this?"

The two goslings stretched their slender necks into the bag, then pecked at it with their flat bills—they shattered the balls, but didn’t eat them.

Huai Yu quietly breathed a sigh of relief. She then poured the crumbled pieces into the bamboo grove and asked softly, "Kuang Biao, do you need this?"

A moment later, bamboo roots shifted beneath the ground, rolling the cluster of crumbs scattered on the bamboo leaves down into the soil.

Then, after a long silence, Kuang Biao finally sighed. "It’s alright... though honestly, it feels inferior to the crap those two leave behind."
