Everyone Can Hear My Thoughts, and Now They're Panicking
Chapter 280: It Must Be at the Behest of Jane Lancaster
His gaze fell to another angle, where he saw a tall, slender figure in the dark of night.
The previous night, that person had followed Jane Lancaster from a distance, just like this. They never showed themselves, but it irritated him immensely.
’What are they planning to do, still following her? Jane already has my help; she doesn’t need anyone else.’
The Black-Haired Oracle’s expression turned cold. ’They had better stay hidden like last night, or I won’t be so courteous.’
—
After the attendants in white robes withdrew, they looked at each other in bewilderment.
"Priest Number Three... he was actually smiling just now, wasn’t he?" one attendant asked, mustering their courage.
The others thought about it and had a revelation. It was entirely possible!
"Could it be because he was moved by the love between Luna Morgan and Caleb Lowell? Oh my gosh, they’re about to meet! They’re definitely going to pour their hearts out to each other!" an attendant exclaimed excitedly.
This is a classic scene! He finally admits he loves her, and she finally takes a brave step forward. How inspiring!
If she could, she would be just like the citizens of Aethelgard, desperately showering them with star power to help them achieve their happy ending.
But after she said this, she noticed none of her colleagues were agreeing with her.
"So, it’s finally reaching the grand finale," someone sighed.
"But if they get together like this, will they really be happy?" someone else asked, their expression dazed.
The years in The Sanctum were long. Day after day, they toiled with their heads bowed, mechanical and numb, having long since forgotten the paths that brought them here.
They had forgotten how they were once the favored children of heaven, their futures bright and limitless.
The faces beneath their white-veiled hats had long since blurred into obscurity.
The hands that once held destiny were now scarred by cosmic rays, coarse and unsightly.
While everyone was lost in melancholy, a calculating glint flashed in one person’s eyes. They took advantage of the distraction and slipped away.
—
Caleb Lowell walked out of Luna Morgan’s hospital room, his heart pounding, unable to calm down.
He looked down at the files she had given him. ’She must have taken a huge risk, stealing these from a calculating schemer like Sean Grant.’
But with these files, The Lowell Group could finally be saved.
If he played his cards right, he could not only escape his current predicament but also absorb some of Sean Grant’s hidden assets, taking the company to the next level.
She hadn’t just saved The Lowell Group; she had saved his life.
This was the second time she had risked everything to save him.
Caleb Lowell sighed. She had done so much for him. He owed her so much, he no longer knew how he could ever repay her.
’If only it had been Jane Lancaster who had done all this for me today...’
The thought flashed through his mind, and he instantly cooled down, forcing himself to stop such fanciful thinking. It was disrespectful to Luna Morgan.
He was about to turn back when he noticed Luna Morgan’s hospital room door was ajar, and someone was inside.
Hearing voices from within, Caleb Lowell was instantly on alert.
—
"Come in," Luna Morgan said casually, hearing a knock.
When she saw who walked in, her eyes widened in shock, and her breath caught in her throat.
"Mr. Leo, wh-what are you doing here...?"
Sean Grant placed a fruit basket and flowers on the coffee table. "You’re hurt. Of course I came to visit."
"I-Is that so," Luna Morgan said, forcing a smile.
Sean Grant walked over and sat on the edge of the bed. He was about to tuck her in when he noticed she was trembling violently.
"Are you afraid of me?" Sean Grant’s face darkened.
Luna Morgan tried her best to act calm. "No, I’m not."
It might have been more convincing if her voice wasn’t trembling so much.
Sean Grant gave a derisive smile. ’Of course. How could she not be afraid after finding out her good friend is such a vicious, malicious person? She’s just too kind.’
"Do you love Caleb Lowell that much? Enough to die for him?" Sean Grant asked softly.
The question had tortured him all night. "When that car was heading for you, a part of my heart died with it."
Luna Morgan’s face was deathly pale. "You knew all along that I stole the files. You were following me last night. Did you come to drag me back?"
She asked through a sob, "Are you going to kill me?"
"Don’t be afraid of me. You’re my salvation. How could I ever hurt you?" Sean Grant grabbed her hand to comfort her. "Luna, why don’t you leave this place with me? For you, I’m willing to give up everything here. That includes letting The Lowell Group off the hook, of course."
Luna Morgan bit her lip. Although she was terrified, she summoned her courage. "As long as you promise not to do bad things anymore, I’ll go with you."
If sacrificing herself could make this man turn over a new leaf and become an upright and kind person, she felt it was her duty.
But as soon as the words left her mouth, her heart felt like it was being sliced by a knife.
’If I leave with Sean Grant, will I never see Caleb Lowell again in this lifetime?’
Sean Grant froze when he heard her answer, then his brow furrowed slightly.
Caleb Lowell, who had heard everything, could no longer hold back and pushed the door open. "She won’t go with you! She’s with me, and I’m the one she loves!"
Sean Grant stood up and looked at him coldly.
Caleb Lowell ignored him and held out his hand. "Luna, come here. Come to my side."
Luna Morgan scrambled off the other side of the bed, ignoring the pain in her ankle, and stumbled a few steps before throwing herself into Caleb Lowell’s waiting arms.
When she realized her actions might hurt or provoke Sean Grant, her face paled. She looked up at him. "Mr. Leo..."
But Sean Grant said nothing. He just turned and left.
She was stunned. ’What just happened?’
"Was Mr. Leo hurt by that?" she asked, confused.
’I overheard so many of his secrets and even betrayed him, but he’s not even going to get revenge?’
Caleb Lowell’s feelings were complicated. "He probably let you go because he knows your heart belongs to me and wants you to be happy."
—
Outside the door, Chloe Dave watched for a moment before turning to leave.
’This is great,’ he thought. ’Luna has finally found happiness. Even if it’s not with me, I’m happy for her.’
Still, a sense of loss gnawed at his heart, and the bitter taste of a love lost spread across his tongue.
Someone walked toward him. "Chloe, what’s wrong with you?"
Chloe Dave looked up and saw a face swollen like a pig’s head. He was stunned for a moment. "What happened to you?"
Vincent Holt was also shocked. Chloe Dave’s injuries didn’t look like much, just some bruising on his face—nowhere near as severe as his own.
’Why is it that we both got beaten up, but Chloe got off so much lighter? This is outrageous! They actually played favorites!’
Vincent Holt was about to lose his mind!
"Is Zion here? Zion!" Remembering the results of his investigation, he rushed toward the hospital room.
Chloe Dave realized something, and his expression changed. "Wait!"
But it was too late. The moment the door was pushed open, Chloe Dave’s sharp eyes caught a glimpse of the two of them kissing in an embrace.
Hearing the door open, Caleb Lowell quickly let go of Luna Morgan and turned around with a calm expression. "What is it?"
Vincent Holt, perhaps because his eyes were swollen like lightbulbs and his vision was impaired, didn’t seem to notice a thing.
Luna Morgan looked up, saw Vincent Holt’s condition, and asked in shock, "What happened? You’re so badly hurt!"
Caleb Lowell paused for a second, then his gaze darkened.
"Zion, I found it! The person who hit you with the car last night must have been acting on Jane Lancaster’s orders!"
