Everyone Can Hear My Thoughts, and Now They're Panicking

Chapter 258: Then When Are We Going to Transfer the Ownership?

  • Next Chapter

Jane Lancaster walked through the door and found an unexpected guest at home.

Lawyer Stone smiled and greeted Jane Lancaster, "Miss Lancaster."

Timothy Lancaster walked out of the conference room and called to Jane Lancaster, "Jay, you’re back? Come on in and sign."

Inside the conference room were not only Julian Lancaster, but also the special legal counsel for the Lancaster Group.

On the other side were three of the family’s uncles, serving as witnesses.

Timothy Lancaster’s intention was simple. Years ago, Jane Lancaster had let Julian Lancaster hold her shares in proxy because she was too young at the time.

Now that she was capable of standing on her own two feet, the shares Julian had been holding for her should be returned to Jane to hold herself.

Before signing, Jane Lancaster glanced up at Julian Lancaster.

He had been noticeably more silent over the past few days, and his face was a little pale.

He said nothing, his expression calm, but the hand resting on his knee had unconsciously clenched into a fist.

Timothy followed her gaze and shot a casual, dismissive glance at Julian. "Don’t worry about him. You’re just taking back what’s yours. He has no right to object."

Jane Lancaster: "..."

’You’re not wrong, but aren’t you being a little too disrespectful? Who belittles their own son like that?’

She sighed. This father of hers seemed a little too good to her.

She didn’t even need to ask for anything; he proactively shoved every benefit into her hands.

’Since it’s like this, I might as well ask for more, right?’

Jane Lancaster turned to Timothy Lancaster. "Dad, I remember you said that everything, the Lancaster Family and the Lancaster Group included, is all mine."

Timothy Lancaster: "That’s right. Everything the Lancaster Family has is yours."

A small smile played on Jane Lancaster’s lips. "But even if I get these shares back, I still won’t be the largest shareholder..."

Timothy had a realization. So that’s what she wanted? It was a good thing for his daughter to have ambition; of course, he wouldn’t stand in her way.

"Then why don’t I transfer my shares to you..."

Jane Lancaster shook her head, cutting Timothy off. "That’s not what I want."

Timothy looked at her with some surprise. If not the shares, then what did she want? "Tell me. As long as it’s something you want, Dad will give it to you."

Jane Lancaster: "Since you’ve said that, Dad, then I want two things. First, this villa we live in—I want it transferred directly into my name. Second, that commercial building owned by the Lancaster Group."

Everyone present stared at her, stunned. She really had the guts to ask for that?

Even Julian Lancaster looked up at her, his expression unreadable.

"Are you insane?" Adrian Lancaster burst in.

Jane Lancaster gave him a meaningful look.

’Oh, so you were home. You were hiding when your eldest brother was being forced to hand over his shares, but now you can’t wait to jump out.’

Adrian Lancaster: "..."

He took a deep breath and changed his tune. "Jay, your brothers will give you anything you want. Don’t joke around."

The three uncles also began to chime in.

They were already somewhat displeased with Timothy for doting on his daughter while ignoring his eldest son. They had come today to back Julian up and warn Timothy not to go too far.

They hadn’t expected Jane to push her luck and make such an exorbitant demand for the assets!

"Jane, you’ve always been a sensible girl. You should know that it’s not a child’s place to demand property from their parents."

"That’s right. Even if you and your father are close, you can’t do this. Won’t this break your other brothers’ hearts?"

"You’re a grown woman now. You’re perfectly capable; you should be independent."

Jane Lancaster: "But my dad drew up a will long ago leaving all his assets to me, including all the shares he holds. They’re all coming to me sooner or later anyway, right?"

The uncles: "...That may be so, but your parents have no obligation to give you their assets."

How did she become so shameless! Wasn’t she always so sensible before?

They were furious. What kind of daughter was this, not only living off her parents but also trying to bleed them dry!

Timothy was a fool, too. Hadn’t he raised an ungrateful wretch?

Jane Lancaster was completely unabashed.

’Since I’m the most spoiled child in this family, why should I be polite? Of course I’m going to ask for what I want.’

’The Lancaster Group is going to go bankrupt sooner or later. What am I going to do with a pile of shares that’ll just become worthless paper?’

’Real estate is obviously more valuable. The villa and that commercial building together should sell for ten figures, at the very least, right?’

"All I know is that the Lancaster family’s assets were always meant to be mine. Besides, where the money is, that’s where the love is." Jane Lancaster turned to look at Timothy. "Don’t you agree, Dad?"

Timothy seemed surprised by her audacity and was stunned for a long moment.

"Jay, you should be polite to your uncles," he replied gently. "But of course, Dad loves you."

Jane Lancaster: "So, does that mean you two, Eldest Brother and Third Brother, have a problem with how Dad is distributing his assets?"

Adrian Lancaster remained silent. Of course he wouldn’t answer that question.

If he said he had a problem, wouldn’t that mean he was coveting his father’s fortune?

But he quickly realized he shouldn’t stay silent, because Julian was also silent.

It looked very much like the two brothers were presenting a united front in silent protest.

"Dad, I don’t." Sensing Timothy’s gaze fall upon him, Adrian’s heart tightened, and he spoke hastily.

Jane Lancaster almost died laughing.

’Tsk tsk, now you see the benefit of having Alvin around, don’t you? He was always the one to rush forward and step on the landmines.’

’You two just hide in the back, living peaceful lives. One of you doesn’t dare show his ambition. That’s why whenever something came up, it was always Alvin and me who had to step up.’

’So if Alvin isn’t here, I can carry the whole team?’

Adrian Lancaster lowered his head, a flash of irritation in his eyes. She was going too far, diverting the disaster onto them!

But since his eldest brother could hear her thoughts, he surely wouldn’t let her get her way.

Timothy turned his imposing gaze toward Julian Lancaster.

Julian’s expression was calm. "I have no objections to any decision Dad makes."

Adrian looked completely stunned. How could this be?

"That’s great! I knew Eldest Brother and Third Brother wouldn’t have any objections!" Jane Lancaster said cheerfully. "So, Dad, when are we going to transfer the deeds?"

Timothy patted her head affectionately. "Oh, you."

He thought for a moment. It was the first time his daughter had ever asked him for anything; he couldn’t possibly refuse. "I’ll arrange it in a few days."

—

The Lancaster family uncles left in a huff.

In their opinion, Timothy was being utterly foolish!

His daughter asked, and he was ready to give it to her without even batting an eye.

They were full of complaints and wanted to grumble some more, but the memory of Timothy’s terrifying rage when he had transferred shares to Jane before made them all back down.

The crucial point was that even Julian had no objections. Even if they wanted to back him up, they had no pretext.

Adrian was about to leave when he turned and saw Julian still sitting in the conference room.

Julian pressed a fist to his lips and coughed lightly twice. The moment he moved his hand away, it was covered in blood.

"Eldest Brother!" Adrian’s heart leaped in shock. No matter how emotionally detached he considered himself, the scene before him was a blow.

Julian’s face was pale. He lowered his gaze to the blood, yet his eyes grew increasingly clear.

This was the second time.
