Chapter 231: Chapter 231: If I Don’t Go, I Won’t Be Able to Control Myself

The other gray-clothed men surrounding Yun Sheng and Xing Che attacked in unison.

They rolled up their sleeves and raised their hands, aiming at Xing Che.

Each wore a silver metal device on their wrist. Ghostly blue light flowed across its surface in intricate patterns, resembling some kind of precision micro-weapon.

Dozens of ghostly blue thin needles shot out from the devices, their speed making them nearly invisible.

Xing Che’s eyes turned sharp. His spiritual power surged, and a powerful shockwave radiated outward.

The thin needles were blasted away, embedding themselves in the surrounding tree trunks and rocks, hissing as they emitted white smoke.

Yun Sheng quickly condensed her spiritual power into a thicker barrier, wrapping layer after layer around them.

The thin needles that weren’t deflected slammed into the barrier, creating a piercing SIZZLE. It was as if something was corroding the barrier’s surface, but it failed to penetrate.

Her barrier and Xing Che’s shockwave overlapped, forming a double layer of protection that firmly kept the ghostly blue thin needles at bay.

The lead gray-clothed man’s expression changed; he clearly hadn’t expected them to block the attack.

"Continue!" he ordered sharply.

The other gray-clothed men pressed the devices on their wrists again, and another volley of thin needles rained down on them.

Although they blocked it again, Yun Sheng was clearly struggling. The hair on her forehead was damp with cold sweat, and her face was unnaturally pale.

Xing Che glanced at her, his brow furrowing slightly. He raised a hand and enveloped her in a Spirit Barrier, protecting her securely.

Then, his figure flashed as he took the offensive, lunging toward the gray-clothed men.

His immense spiritual power pressed down like a mountain, forcing several of the gray-clothed men back. They were no match for him.

The leader’s face darkened completely. "Use it!" he snarled.

As soon as he spoke, several of the gray-clothed men quickly pulled out syringes from their waists and unhesitatingly stabbed them into their own necks.

The moment the fluid was injected, their eyes turned crimson. Their auras flared, muscles bulged, and veins popped as they instantly entered a berserk state.

They roared and charged at Xing Che, their attacks so ferocious it was as if they no longer cared for their own lives.

Yun Sheng’s pupils constricted at the sight.

’They’re using the induction agent on themselves?’

’These people are insane!’

She quickly gathered more spiritual power, reinforcing the barrier Xing Che had created while also forming several thin needles of her own. She shot them through the gaps to strike the berserk men, helping Xing Che divert some of their attacks.

Yun Sheng gritted her teeth, desperately maintaining the barrier. Her spiritual power was draining rapidly, and beads of sweat trickled down her cheeks from her temples.

Her stamina was failing. Her vision swam with black spots, and her body swayed, nearly causing her to fall.

The leader seized the opportunity. He slammed his spiritual power against the barrier Yun Sheng had erected and thrust his knife straight at her throat.

Yun Sheng’s pupils shrank. She instinctively tried to dodge, but her body wouldn’t obey...

Xing Che caught the scene out of the corner of his eye and froze. He ignored the men he was still fighting and threw everything he had into turning back to save her.

He parried the blade aimed at Yun Sheng and pulled her behind him.

But in that instant, the man who had been attacking Yun Sheng suddenly changed his target, aiming the device on his wrist directly at Xing Che.

Two thin needles shot out in succession. Xing Che barely dodged one, but the other sank into his arm. A ghostly blue toxin immediately began to spread along his veins, visible to the naked eye.

"Xing Che!" Yun Sheng cried out, lunging forward to support him.

Seeing this, a vicious glint flashed in the leader’s eyes. He shouted, "He’s been hit with an induction agent! He won’t last long! Everyone, charge! Grab that guide for me!"

The other gray-clothed men responded, rushing toward the pair.

Just then, a massive black shadow charged in from a distance and slammed viciously into the foremost gray-clothed men, sending them flying.

The Abyssal Giant Wolf landed steadily in front of Xing Che and Yun Sheng. Ghostly blue flames danced around its body, its crimson eyes locked onto the gray-clothed men as a low, savage growl rumbled in its throat.

"Little Wolf!" Yun Sheng exclaimed.

Little Wolf had been following them earlier but had vanished for a while for some reason. Now it was back, with a fresh wound on its shoulder, as if it had just escaped a brutal fight.

It turned to look at Yun Sheng, its ghostly blue eyes filled with a mixture of anxiety and self-reproach.

But the gray-clothed men were already charging again. With no time to express anything more, it whipped its head back around and pounced on them.

The ghostly blue toxin in Xing Che’s arm was spreading quickly. His breathing grew ragged, and his entire body was trembling slightly.

Gritting his teeth, he grabbed Yun Sheng’s arm and pulled her into a run toward the forest.

"But Little Wolf is still..." Yun Sheng struggled instinctively, looking back at Little Wolf, who was tangled in a fight with the gray-clothed men.

Xing Che’s expression was incredibly grave. His voice was urgent and hoarse. "In our current state, we’d just be a burden if we stay! Besides, I can sense their backup arriving. We have to run, now! Without us weighing it down, the Abyssal Giant Wolf can get away!"

Seeing Yun Sheng still hesitating, he suddenly wrapped an arm around her waist, lifted her up, and charged forward with all his might.

Held tightly in his arms, Yun Sheng could only watch as Little Wolf single-handedly held back the gray-clothed men, pinning them in place.

As she watched, Little Wolf seemed to sense her gaze and glanced back at her.

Its ghostly blue eyes were filled with urgency, as if to say, ’Go, don’t worry about me.’

Yun Sheng’s eyes reddened. She could only watch helplessly as Little Wolf’s figure shrank in her vision until it disappeared completely.

A sharp, churning pain wracked Xing Che’s spiritual landscape. His spiritual power was on the verge of rampaging, and he suppressed it with all his strength as he ran, carrying Yun Sheng, until they reached a hidden cave.

The area was overgrown with bushes, and the cave entrance was half-hidden by vines, making it difficult to spot.

He had just rushed inside with Yun Sheng when his body swayed violently, and he almost fell.

The moment Yun Sheng’s feet touched the ground, she moved to support him, but he gently pushed her away.

"Don’t come near me..."

Xing Che’s voice was terribly hoarse, laced with an uncontrollable tremor.

The rampaging spiritual power around him intensified, and chaotic waves pulsed from his body.

"I... I’ll leave now," he said through gritted teeth, forcing himself to walk toward the entrance. "You... be careful on your own!"

Seeing him like this, Yun Sheng’s heart clenched.

She knew that if Xing Che left now, the induction agent would make him lose control. His spiritual power would rampage, and he might even lose his sanity completely.

’Just like what happened to Si Jin!’

Yun Sheng surged forward and grabbed Xing Che’s hand.

"If you leave now, you’ll lose control completely! Do you want to degenerate into a Dark Sentinel?!"

Xing Che froze.

He turned his head and looked at Yun Sheng.

His eyes were burning crimson, the rims an unnatural, bloodshot color. A desire that threatened to overflow swirled in their depths, so hot it felt like it could burn right through her.

His breaths were rapid and heavy, his chest heaving violently. He was like a string stretched to its breaking point.

Xing Che stared at her like this for a long moment, then suddenly tightened his grip on her hand and pulled her into his arms.

His breath was scorching hot, washing over her face in puffs. His voice was so hoarse it sounded as if it were being squeezed from the depths of his chest.

"If I don’t leave, I won’t be able to control myself. I... I might do something... that you won’t be able to accept."
