Chapter 184: Chapter 184: Want to See That Qi Guy Suffer Even More?

Yun Sheng lowered her eyes, suppressing some of the spiritual power she had gathered.

Qi Yao wanted to see her trump card, to test her limits. Well, she would put on a show for him, give him something good to watch.

Just then, a contaminant lunged from the flank. Zhao Heng swung his blade to block it.

Yun Sheng’s spiritual power coiled around the creature’s wing like a silk thread and gave a gentle tug.

The blade veered half an inch. Instead of landing a killing blow, it grazed the contaminant’s body.

Black blood splattered violently, flying straight for Qi Yao’s face with uncanny accuracy.

Qi Yao frowned, subconsciously releasing his spiritual power to repel the filthy blood.

The bloody mist scattered, spattering several Sentinels beside him.

"Sorry!" Yun Sheng’s voice was rushed and flustered. "I—I lost control..."

Qi Yao ignored her, his gaze sweeping over to Zhao Heng.

Zhao Heng’s expression darkened. With a twist of his blade, he swiftly sliced another pouncing contaminant in two.

But this time, half of the corpse flew directly toward Qi Yao’s feet, and foul blood pooled on the ground.

Qi Yao released his spiritual power again, blasting the mangled corpse away. His expression had already soured.

"Zhao Heng." His voice was dangerously low.

A chill ran down Zhao Heng’s back. He gritted his teeth, his slashes suddenly becoming fiercer as he cut down the contaminants rushing toward them one by one.

This time, he deliberately controlled his angle and force, making the corpses and blood fall to the other side.

Seeing this, a glint of cunning flashed in Yun Sheng’s eyes.

She condensed her spiritual power into an extremely fine thread, stealthily wrapped it around the contaminant Zhao Heng’s blade was about to strike, and gave a light pull.

Another half-corpse went flying straight for Qi Yao.

This time, Qi Yao didn’t use his spiritual power to repel it, sidestepping it instead.

His cold gaze swept over and landed on Yun Sheng.

Yun Sheng looked up with an innocent expression, meeting his gaze. Her voice was small and timid. "I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I—I’m not very good at using my spiritual power..."

Her face was a little pale, her temples were beaded with sweat, and her fingertips were even trembling.

She looked exactly like a flustered rookie who had been pushed to her limit and had no idea how to cope.

Qi Yao stared at her for two seconds but said nothing.

Yun Sheng lowered her head. The corner of her mouth curved up slightly before she quickly suppressed it.

’Qi Yao wanted to see what she was capable of, didn’t he? Well, he was about to get a taste!’

Zhao Heng’s blade fell again, and more black blood splattered.

Prepared this time, Qi Yao retreated several steps. The blood landed on the gravel in front of him, sizzling and emitting white smoke.

His brow was knitted into a tight knot and his jaw was clenched, but he still said nothing.

Yun Sheng glanced over and clicked her tongue internally.

’Not enough.’

Her peripheral vision swept to the right. Zhao Qian was cowering behind a Sentinel, her spiritual power focused but only enough to barely keep up. It was obvious she was slacking.

Yun Sheng quickly split off a wisp of spiritual power, forming an invisible thin needle that pricked gently at Zhao Qian’s wrist.

Zhao Qian was already tense, wound up like a string about to snap. The prick made her jerk violently. Her hand trembled, and the Spiritual Blade she had painstakingly formed shot off-course, flying out crookedly.

PFFT!

The errant Spiritual Blade plunged into a contaminant’s abdomen. The creature let out a shrill screech as a thick mist of black blood exploded from the wound, spraying directly toward Qi Yao with uncanny accuracy.

Qi Yao hadn’t been paying attention to Zhao Qian’s position. By the time he sensed the foul blood spraying toward him, it was too late.

Although he quickly blasted the blood mist away, it was so thick and dense that a few drops still spattered his cuffs and shoes.

The blood carried a pungent, foul stench, like rotting fish mixed with sulfur, strong enough to make one’s nose wrinkle.

Qi Yao glanced down at his cuffs and shoes, then over at the "flustered" Yun Sheng, who was busy "cooperating" with Zhao Heng.

His expression was fouler than the puddle of blood.

Zhao Qian’s face went pale with fright. She scrambled backward, crying, "I’m sorry, I’m sorry!"

Her spiritual power was in complete disarray, darting about like a headless fly and causing the surrounding air to vibrate faintly.

"Zhao Qian!" Qi Yao snapped. "Get your spiritual power under control!"

Zhao Qian nodded tremulously, desperately trying to rein in her spiritual power. But the more she panicked, the more chaotic it became. It scattered like a flock of startled sparrows, attracting several more contaminants.

What was worse, her chaos spread, affecting the nearby Cheng Nian.

Cheng Nian had been focused on coordinating with her Sentinel when she was suddenly struck by a wave of chaotic spiritual power, causing her own Spiritual Blade to go askew.

Li Wen was also affected. She frowned, forced to divert some of her energy to stabilize her own spiritual landscape.

In an instant, nearly half the team was thrown into disarray by Zhao Qian’s panic. Foul blood flew everywhere, and screeches rose and fell one after another.

Taking advantage of the chaos, Yun Sheng stealthily separated the portion of power in her spiritual landscape that belonged to Xing Che.

The power was cool to the touch, flowing obediently around her fingertips.

She condensed it into extremely thin needles—one, two, three—each finer than a strand of hair and even more covert than her own spiritual power.

She discreetly sent the thin needles toward the contaminants surrounding Qi Yao.

The contaminants were agitated into a frenzy, lunging madly at Qi Yao as plumes of foul blood burst one after another.

Qi Yao cut one down and sidestepped another, but the contaminants seemed to have gone insane, swarming him in relentless waves.

He continuously released his spiritual power, repelling the foul blood, but a few drops always managed to land on him.

Cuffs, collar, shoes, pant legs...

His expression grew darker and darker, and the aura around him became so oppressive that even the nearby Sentinels didn’t dare approach.

Finally, a hair-raising power erupted from within him!

The force was like a tangible, giant hammer, smashing out in all directions.

All the contaminants were sent flying, slamming hard against the cave walls with piercing shrieks.

The entire mine trembled, and rubble rained down from the ceiling.

Everyone was knocked back several steps by the sudden outburst, their faces pale.

The contaminants cowered in the corners, their eerie green eyes fixed on Qi Yao in terror, daring not to move.

Seeing Qi Yao looking so pathetic that he was forced to erupt, Yun Sheng felt a smug satisfaction. On the surface, however, she could only mimic the horrified expressions of the others to avoid giving herself away.

But Qi Yao’s gaze still fell upon her. Just as he was about to say something, the lighting equipment in everyone’s hands suddenly burst in unison!

POP! POP! POP!

A series of sharp cracks echoed as shrapnel flew everywhere, plunging the mine into absolute darkness.

Yun Sheng’s heart tightened, and she instinctively took half a step back.

The next second, she felt something lightly hook her wrist.

Her heart skipped a beat. Before she could react, a very low voice, tinged with an irrepressible hint of amusement, sounded by her ear.

"Don’t be afraid. It’s me."

Warm breath brushed against the shell of her ear.

"Want to see that Qi guy get into even more trouble?"
