Every Sentinel I Dreamed of Came Looking for Me
Chapter 155: Since You’ve Made Up Your Mind, I Won’t Hold Back Anymore
Chapter 155: Chapter 155: Since You’ve Made Up Your Mind, I Won’t Hold Back Anymore
Bai Ye’s voice was incredibly hoarse, his breathing ragged and hot. His chest heaved violently, and his eyes swirled with a desire and struggle that threatened to spill over.
Yun Sheng froze.
This wasn’t just a reaction from their spiritual powers entangling.
His entire being was losing control because of her!
"They’re all watching..." Bai Ye’s voice was forced from deep within his throat, each word raspy and strained. "Don’t continue this."
A chill shot through Yun Sheng’s heart.
A moment ago, her entire focus had been on Bai Ye, her eyes seeing nothing but his spiritual landscape on the verge of collapse. His words jolted her back to reality—this wasn’t a dream.
There were still so many pairs of eyes watching from behind.
If she kept going, Bai Ye might not be able to control his reaction. Or worse, they might discover the truth about her abilities. Either way, endless trouble would be waiting for her.
She bit her lip, forcing her spiritual power to withdraw.
But the instant she tried to pull away, Bai Ye’s spiritual power—which had just begun to stabilize—erupted violently. It latched onto hers with frantic desperation, refusing to let go.
The fissures that had stopped widening showed signs of expanding again, and new ones were even starting to spread.
Yun Sheng’s expression changed. "I can’t! If I stop now, your condition will only get worse!"
Bai Ye pressed his lips into a hard line, his gaze sweeping past her to the people behind them.
Guo Kai was still standing three meters away, frowning at them. His eyes held worry, confusion, and a hint of scrutiny.
Just moments ago, his rampaging spiritual power had prevented Guo Kai from approaching, yet it had accepted Yun Sheng. That alone was suspicious.
It could be explained away, barely. After all, he had treated Yun Sheng specially from the very beginning.
But if his rampaging spiritual power was soothed just by Yun Sheng’s presence, that would be much harder to explain.
If someone reported this, Yun Sheng would be in trouble...
And more importantly, if this continued... he was genuinely afraid he would lose control!
"We have to stop. What if your ability gets exposed..."
Bai Ye didn’t finish his sentence.
But Yun Sheng understood.
He was worried about her. He was more worried about her safety than he was about his own life!
It was as if something had slammed hard into her heart.
It ached.
And it swelled.
She stared into his eyes and said, word by word, "If I withdraw my spiritual power now, your spiritual landscape won’t last much longer!"
Bai Ye said nothing, his thin lips pressed into a tight line.
"I have an idea."
Yun Sheng glanced at their teammates, who were watching nervously from a distance, and lowered her voice.
"You take me out of the canyon, away from everyone’s sight. I’ll help you completely stabilize your spiritual landscape, and then I’ll come back. You can wait at the canyon entrance without coming in. That way, even if they’re suspicious, they won’t have any proof.
You could even leave after Qi Yao arrives with reinforcements and the crisis is over. I can tell them that your spiritual power was rampaging and about to go out of control, so you made an emergency return to the Capital Star to find a High-level Guide to soothe you."
She paused, looking at Bai Ye.
"What do you think?"
Bai Ye was silent for a few seconds.
His gaze fell upon Yun Sheng’s face. He saw the determination in her eyes, saw her racking her brain to find a way to help him, and saw that she was choosing to stand by his side despite knowing the risks.
He suddenly chuckled softly. "Aren’t we just lying to ourselves?"
Yun Sheng froze for a moment, then glared at him fiercely.
"I don’t have time to worry about that! Let’s solve the immediate problem first. We can worry about the rest... later!"
Bai Ye looked at her, so fierce and flustered, and the corners of his lips curved up again.
"Fine. Since you’ve made up your mind... I won’t hold back anymore."
The moment he finished speaking, he took hold of Yun Sheng’s wrist and slowly moved her hand from his forehead.
Within his spiritual landscape, the spiritual power that had just stabilized instantly erupted into a frenzy, even more violent than before.
The oppressive aura Bai Ye had been suppressing suddenly exploded outward. His crimson eyes filled with ferocity and violence, and he looked like a wild beast on the verge of losing control.
But a second later, he forced it all back down through sheer will.
Yun Sheng’s face was a mask of astonishment. She opened her mouth to speak, but Bai Ye’s grip on her wrist suddenly tightened.
She hesitated for a moment. Bai Ye had already looked toward Guo Kai and was speaking in a grim voice.
"More pollutants have broken through the Spirit Barrier I left outside the canyon, and they’re heading this way. My condition isn’t good. I’m going to head outside the canyon and try to hold them off until reinforcements arrive. You and Ma Yu... protect them."
Guo Kai froze, instinctively wanting to stop him.
As a Sentinel himself, he could naturally see the state Bai Ye was in.
The spiritual power fluctuations verging on a total loss of control, the violent aura that was still leaking out despite his desperate suppression... if he continued to fight, he would likely lose control completely and degenerate into a Dark Sentinel!
But the words died on his lips, silenced by the waves of roars from the pollutants outside the canyon.
The sounds were growing closer, more frequent.
The terrifying pressure from the High Order pollutants could be felt clearly, even from within the canyon.
And behind him, there were so many guides in the squad.
Even though several of them were only in the reserves, as their escorting Sentinel, protecting them was his duty.
With his strength and his position, he didn’t even have the right to stop Bai Ye!
Guo Kai’s brow was deeply furrowed, but in the end, he could only manage a difficult nod. In a heavy voice, he said, "White Tiger, take care of yourself. Try... to make it back alive."
Bai Ye nodded slightly.
The next moment, he pulled Yun Sheng along and turned to head out of the canyon.
Guo Kai froze.
"White Tiger!"
He instinctively took two steps forward, but Bai Ye was too fast. Pulling Yun Sheng with him, their figures vanished into the darkness of the canyon entrance in the blink of an eye.
"Why did he take her with him..."
Guo Kai stood rooted to the spot, muttering under his breath. His feelings were an absolute tangled mess.
Behind him, Cheng Nian and Li Wen saw the scene unfold and shot to their feet in anxiety.
"Yun Sheng!"
Cheng Nian started to chase after them but was blocked by Ma Yu’s outstretched arm.
"Don’t go!"
Cheng Nian was so frantic the rims of her eyes turned red. "But... Yun Sheng..."
"White Tiger must have his reasons for taking her." Ma Yu’s expression was just as complicated, and his voice held a trace of uncertainty, but he insisted, "With him protecting her, Yun Sheng won’t get hurt."
Cheng Nian bit her lip, staring fixedly at the entrance to the canyon, but ultimately, she didn’t take another step.
Meanwhile, Guo Kai stood frozen as a memory suddenly flashed through his mind: Yun Sheng standing in front of Bai Ye, seemingly doing something.
After Yun Sheng had approached, Bai Ye’s aura had retracted significantly, and even his rampaging spiritual power had quieted down.
He vaguely sensed what it might mean but didn’t dare to think on it too deeply.
...
「Outside the canyon, it was pitch-black.」
Bai Ye pulled Yun Sheng along, striding swiftly out of the canyon. The moment they set foot in the open, Yun Sheng felt countless cold gazes lock onto them from every direction.
In the darkness, pairs of eerie green and scarlet eyes began to glow. They were densely packed, floating all around like will-o’-the-wisps.
The pollutants lurked, some near and some far, their low snarls rising and falling in waves, thick with bloodlust and a terrifying pressure.
A chill instantly shot up Yun Sheng’s spine.
The sensation of being targeted by countless predators at once was nearly suffocating.
A sharp glint flashed in Bai Ye’s eyes. He raised a hand, and a torrential tide of spiritual power surged forth, instantly erecting three solid, thick barriers around them.
Silver light pulsed in the darkness, cutting off the pollutants’ prying gazes and shutting out the suffocating pressure.
Yun Sheng instantly breathed a sigh of relief.
But in the next moment, the color drained from her face.
Bai Ye’s condition was even worse than it had been in the canyon.
The spiritual power swirling around him was spiraling further out of control. The violence and mania in his crimson eyes threatened to spill over.
"Are you all right..."
The words had barely left Yun Sheng’s lips before they were cut short.
Suddenly, Bai Ye’s arms shot out and yanked her into a crushing embrace.
The force was so great it felt as if he might crush her, yet it was laced with an indescribable tremor of restraint.
The next second, his lips came crashing down on hers.
