Eternally Regressing in Another World
Chapter 98: Sleeping with Step-Mom (1)
Senior Jingyuan is too kind. I only came here to look around. I didn’t mean to disturb anyone." Wang Yue said it politely too.
Hearing that, Wang Jingyuan could not help a flash of contempt. So this only remaining young master of the Wang Family was a soft egg. He had even put on such a big stage, waiting in full array, meaning to give him a blow on dismount, and the boy had flinched first.
But for Wang Jingyuan that was a good thing. A soft-egg young clan head would make it even easier for him to control the whole Wang Family.
Sending his grandson into the Wang Family as a direct line was only the first step of his plan. After that he had more plans, until the whole Wang Family became his.
As for Liu Ruoshi, though her cultivation was one small layer higher than his, in Wang Jingyuan’s eyes she was only a woman, not hard to deal with.
Liu Mei sighed in her heart. Young Master shrinking back like this avoided taking a loss in front of them, but the momentum was already fully lost, and in front of all the hidden martial artists. How would everyone look at him later? How would they submit to him?
Then she heard Wang Yue go on. "Counting it, Senior Jingyuan should be of the same generation as my grandfather. Decades of effort for the Wang Family, hard work and merit both. Lately I heard Senior Jingyuan seems to have some request of the house. You might as well say it and let us hear."
The moment Wang Yue said that, every heart on the field jumped. What was he doing?
Wang Jingyuan wanting his grandson into the Wang Family had never been said in the open. He had only had some people leak wind on purpose, to test the main house’s reaction. After all the two sides had not yet torn the face.
They had not thought Wang Yue would say it to his face right now.
Wasn’t that wanting to put the conflict on the table, leaving both sides no room to turn?
Was this fellow young and hot, reckless for a moment, or did he have another aim?
In an instant everyone present quietly raised their guard, ready to move at any time.
Wang Jingyuan narrowed his eyes at Wang Yue. A fierce light flashed in them, but for the moment he could not read Wang Yue’s intent and did not want to move at once.
Whether Wang Yue was reckless for a moment or had another aim, no one dared look down on him now. At the least this young clan head still had courage. He was not a soft egg.
After a silence Wang Jingyuan hardened his heart. "This old man originally did not dare have any request. But since Young Master has already spoken to this point, this old man will boldly raise one line. That’s right. These decades this old man has been diligent for the Wang Family. Even if there is no merit there is hard work. Once a man gets on in years he likes to think of his descendants. For himself this old man dares request nothing, but he wants to ask one thing for his grandson."
"That’s right too. Though in those years my great-grandfather picked you out of a trash heap and saved you from wild dogs’ mouths, then taught you martial arts and made you a martial artist, then helped you make a family and a living and even gave you a very decent identity outside, all of that, compared with your hard work and merit, still doesn’t count as much." Wang Yue said it smiling, but every line stripped Wang Jingyuan’s old bottom.
As for so-called hard work and merit, that was truly a laugh.
These decades the Three Great Families of Golden Mountain City had been rising. When something came up, the strength on the surface was already enough to settle it. There had been no place that needed people like them.
In other words these martial artists the Wang Family kept had so far only enjoyed the benefits the family gave them and had not yet put out effort for the family.
When Wang Yue said that, not only the martial artists under Liu Mei loyal to the Wang Family, even quite a few standing on Wang Jingyuan’s side felt secretly ashamed.
And that was exactly the intent of Wang Yue saying this.
Wang Jingyuan was fully enraged. What he hated most was other people talking about his origin. These years no one had even dared mention the three words "trash heap" in front of him.
Wang Yue had brought it up in public. This was simply slapping his face hard.
But Wang Jingyuan had quite some depth. He did not fly into a rage over it. He said with a smile that did not reach the flesh, "What happened in those years is already past. This old man also thinks he can bear the four words ’hard work and merit,’ so he boldly asks Young Master one thing."
As he spoke his gaze locked on Wang Yue like a blade. The meaning was clear. Since you already tore the face, today you must give me a satisfactory answer, or don’t blame me for smashing the pot.
Liu Mei tensed at once. Her right hand even gripped the hilt of the soft sword wound at her waist, ready to move and guard at any time.
In her heart she sighed without end. Young Master is still too young, too rash. This way he’s put himself on a tiger he can’t get off.
If he agreed to Wang Jingyuan, with his status he could not go back on it, or all prestige would be gone.
If he did not agree, looking at Wang Jingyuan’s stance he was already ready to throw it all away. Once both sides fought, even if their side could win, at least eight or even nine parts of the lives would fall on the spot. This secret base would exist in name only from then on, and the Wang Family would take a heavy blow to its vitality.
Wang Yue seemed not to have thought of any of that. He nodded. "Speak."
"I have a grandson, just nineteen. I dare not say a dragon or phoenix among men, but he counts as outstanding among the young generation. I mean to have him formally join the Wang Family and give him the identity of a direct-line descendant." Wang Jingyuan said. "This request isn’t excessive, is it?"
Wang Yue suddenly smiled. "Not excessive. Not excessive at all. Counting from you, Senior Jingyuan, it’s already three generations serving the Wang Family. Giving your grandson a formal identity is only right. I only don’t know which one your grandson is?"
Seeing Wang Yue agree so readily, everyone looked blank. What was this? He publicly humiliated Wang Jingyuan, then immediately agreed to this very excessive request. A slap then a sweet date?
But that was too childish.
Then thinking of Wang Yue’s age they felt it was quite reasonable. A eighteen-year-old child playing some childish tricks, thinking he could use kindness and might together. That fit the logic.
