Eternally Regressing in Another World

Chapter 96: Grandmother’s Deeper Meaning (3)

"Young Master, rest easy. Even if you don’t let me become a martial artist, this life of mine, Li Gang’s, is yours!" Li Gang slapped his chest. Thinking of Wang Yue’s kindness to his family, his eyes went a bit red.

He knew that if Wang Yue had not stepped in, not only would his wounds have taken a long time to heal, his little sister would have fallen into Liu Sheng’s claws.

So the first moment he learned of these things he had already decided to sell this life to Wang Yue for life, to repay his kindness.

Li Gang’s honesty was definitely not an act. Wang Yue did not have much experience, but he could see that.

And he was Li Menglan’s own little brother. For that alone Wang Yue trusted his character. So he said no more, stood, and said, "Follow me."

Taking Li Gang, Wang Yue came to the parking lot by the main gate and got into an off-road vehicle with him.

It was not that Wang Yue did not want to drive his hovering vehicle. It was that Li Gang’s nearly two-meter bulk would be very uncomfortable in a small car.

After calling Grandmother Liu Ruoshi to report, Wang Yue drove out of the Wang Family Estate.

The Wang Family Estate was already in the suburbs, and the place Wang Yue was going was even more remote.

After following a road a full twenty-odd kilometers Wang Yue turned the vehicle into a fairly large factory.

On the surface this factory made ordinary saber and sword type weapons. Underground there was a huge space a full six levels deep.

This was the Wang Family’s base for secretly training martial artists. All martial artists belonging to the Wang Family usually trained here and waited for tasks.

These martial artists had never registered with the Martial Artists Alliance, and on the surface they had another identity. Quite a few even had their own families.

At ordinary times they stayed in the base in the name of going to work and did not show their identities. Only when the family needed them would they move in secret.

Some were descendants of old-generation Wang Family servants. Some were orphans taken in from childhood. Loyalty was fairly assured.

"Third Young Master, you’re here." The one who received Wang Yue was a beautiful woman who looked about thirty.

In fact once a martial artist trained to peak Quench Body, if they were willing, looks, figure, and bodily chance would all stay in a state of about thirty until lifespan was nearly gone, and only then would they show age.

Only those with special needs would let the body keep growing.

Those who wanted to show some majesty would grow into a middle-aged look of forty or fifty.

Those who wanted to look immortal and bone-like would keep growing until beard and hair were all white.

But generally it was men who did that. Women who cared more about their faces and figures would stop growing at their peak.

Take Wang Yue’s grandmother Liu Ruoshi. Her age was already not small, but besides real age every function of her body was no different from a true thirty-year-old woman’s.

The beautiful woman in front of them was the same. She looked young but was actually about as old as Liu Ruoshi. In those years she had been Liu Ruoshi’s personal maid. Now she was the one in charge of this secret base, with Nascent Soul third layer cultivation.

"Grandma Mei, please don’t be so formal with me. Just call me Yue’er." Toward this senior who had given the Wang Family decades and had not even made a family, Wang Yue had a lot of respect.

Liu Mei did not stand on ceremony with Wang Yue either. She smiled. "Just now Miss sent word you were coming. Is there something?"

The Miss she spoke of was Liu Ruoshi. She had called her that since they were girls and was used to it.

Wang Yue looked around. "Let’s talk inside."

Liu Mei nodded and took the two of them into a very unremarkable room in the factory. She pressed a spot on the wall that looked no different from anywhere else.

A moment later the innermost wall of the room slowly opened a door, showing a passage inside.

The three of them entered that door and went down the steps.

Only after the door behind them shut did Wang Yue say as they walked, "Grandma Mei, I came today for him."

As he spoke he pointed at Li Gang following close behind.

"Him?" Liu Mei could not help knitting her pretty brows. How deep a martial artist’s cultivation was was hard to see when they did not use force, but whether a person was a martial artist was easy to tell.

The person behind Wang Yue, though very tall and strong and looking fierce, was simply not a martial artist. So Liu Mei did not understand why he had brought such a person.

"Grandma Mei, Li Gang is not a martial artist yet, but he is a super genius in outer arts." Wang Yue trusted Liu Mei absolutely, so he told her Li Gang’s situation.

When Liu Mei finished listening her pretty eyes lit up at once. She said happily, "We happen to have many outer-art techniques in hand, including one high-grade Earth-rank set, but we never found a suitable person for it. Now it can finally be put to use."

That the house had a high-grade Earth-rank outer-art technique did not surprise Wang Yue at all.

Training outer arts and training inner arts were completely different. There was no outer-art method in this world, or at least no one had found one yet. To train you could only keep tempering the body, making it stronger and stronger, until it could match a martial artist.

That way of training suffered far too much and showed results very slowly, so the "body refining" path was very unpopular in this age. Even body-refining experts with extreme willpower only matched Refine Qi martial artists. Stronger ones did not exist at all.

And outer-art techniques relied on brute force alone and could not use true qi, so never mind Earth-rank outer-art techniques. Even Heaven-rank ones were basically worthless.

Li Gang’s genius lay in this. As long as he was hurt, after he recovered his body would be even stronger.

He had only been an ordinary person. After that vehicle accident the strength of his body already chased a Quench Body martial artist. Even if it fell short, it was not by much.

If it were only that, Li Gang would only count as an ordinary genius. After all wounds needed time to recover. One wound meant months of rest, then the body’s strength rose a few parts. The speed of progress naturally fell far short of a martial artist’s.

Li Gang’s freakish part was that this fellow absorbed medicine at a shocking speed. As long as there was enough spirit medicine, a heavy wound that should have taken months to recover he could heal overnight.

A person like that training outer arts was more than a hundred times faster than an ordinary person.

The only bad part was he had to keep getting hurt. That needed very strong will to stick with.

But Wang Yue believed Li Gang could do it.

So Wang Yue had brought him here. The aim was to have the Wang Family’s martial artists keep tempering Li Gang’s body.

"Third Young Master has arrived. All levels, come pay respects at once!" After entering the underground space Liu Mei spoke at once. Nascent Soul true qi wrapped her voice and spread through the whole underground space in an instant. In all six underground levels, no matter which level, it could be heard clearly.

Soon the Wang Family’s hidden martial artists hurried over, men and women, old and young. After they came they all saluted Wang Yue and greeted him. Wang Yue nodded back one by one.

A few minutes later no one else came. Wang Yue’s brows could not help knitting.

If he remembered right this secret base had one hundred and two martial artists the Wang Family trained in secret. It was daytime now. By reason all of them should be here.

Right then only fifty-odd had come. Nearly half had not shown up.

Wang Yue was not the type who liked putting on airs. Even if Liu Mei had not gathered everyone to pay respects he would not have minded.

But the situation now was that Liu Mei had clearly gathered them and nearly half still had not come.

What did that mean? It meant these people did not put this Third Young Master in their eyes at all.

If this had happened three years ago it could still be read as the three branches fighting for power, the other two branches not giving face to this young master of the second house.

Now the situation was that the whole Wang Family had only this one male left, Wang Yue. He stood for the Wang Family’s future. Not giving Wang Yue face was equal to not putting the Wang Family in their eyes.
