Chapter 1629: A Complex Theft (12)

Chapter 1629: A Complex Theft (12)

The moment Corpse Governor activated his corpse vessel puppet, he began examining everything through it, starting with the shattered ground, the broken statues, the silent corridor, and finally the entrance beyond.

The entrance behind the Corpse Vessel was special as it could only be opened through a special method passed down through generations of the Corpse Governors.

Not even the Corpse Commanders or other powerful Corpse Cultivators could gain access to it without altering the Corpse Governor, much less finding the entrance which had been embedded within the Corpse Vein.

That’s why, despite searching madly, the Corpse Governor found nothing, but the Corpse Governor knew he hadn’t made sense, especially after the incident with the exchange point and the strange restlessness he had been feeling.

The next moment, his perception expanded instantly as Corpse Qi surged outward in an invisible wave, sweeping across every inch of the hall without leaving a single crack, fragment, or vein. But the result was the same; there was nothing!

His corpse flames flickered violently as the suppressed madness within him started to rage, "...Again?"

He seemed to be gritting his teeth in utter bafflement, as there really wasn’t any presence, fluctuation, or residual trace, just like the last time.

However, this time it was different because this place was not like an exchange platform; it was sacred.

"...Impossible..." His voice echoed faintly through the vessel.

This hall was connected directly to the deepest pathways like a final access point or a last gate before the most hidden truth of the Undead Boundary. But no one entered here or left from start to finish, and yet a clear disturbance had occurred.

His scanning intensified as the corpse vessel’s aura surged, pressing against space itself, forcing hidden fluctuations to surface. The corpse veins embedded in the ground pulsed faintly in response.

But no matter how deeply he probed, no matter how far his senses reached, there was still nothing except for absolute silence.

The Corpse Governor’s thoughts turned colder, sharper, and more dangerous.

’Once could be a coincidence, but twice...First, the Central Repository, and now this place. Although they aren’t connected and impossible to breach, both of them showed uncanny reactions, with nothing to trace back to the origin.’

His corpse flames burned brighter for the first time, something close to restlessness surfaced within him, but it wasn’t fear; instead, something far more dangerous.

Because this was no longer an anomaly and felt more like an intrusion.

’Could it be someone or something has really entered? Or that ’unknown’ hidden behind the ’Undead Heart Seal’ is behind it? But that should be even more impossible!’

An absurd conclusion formed in his mind despite his beliefs; he couldn’t remain passive and live in delusion anymore, because too many ’impossible’ things had already happened, and this realization shattered the last trace of his stillness.

The Corpse Governor’s aura surged violently as the corpse veins connected to his throne pulsed in response, sending faint ripples through the entire hidden domain.

The Corpse Governor didn’t hesitate any longer. The moment that thought took root, his decision was made, and within the ruined hall, the corpse vessel under his control suddenly moved.

The Corpse Governor’s consciousness sharpened, ’If something truly entered...then it must have come this way. This place is too important for me to ignore!’

He didn’t trust the mirror anymore, not after what he had just witnessed, and whatever it was, he would see it himself.

However, he still had not moved with his true body because the moment he stepped out of that throne, even for an instant, the entire balance of the Undead Boundary would shift as too many things depended on his presence.

Moreover, too many forces were watching, and more importantly, if this was truly an intrusion into the core, then exposing his real body would be the greatest risk of all. So, he chose the only method left.

The corpse veins, embedded within its body, pulsed violently, and in response, the ground beneath it began to resonate in a low, rhythmic hum, as if some hidden, ancient connection was awakened.

The next moment, deep within the corpse veins, something responded; a pathway that did not exist for anyone else materialized through the method passed down only through the line of Corpse Governors.

The corpse vessel’s chest lit up, and runes ignited before corpse veins surged, then space behind it distorted, and the next moment, it simply opened.

A thin dark crack formed along the wall behind the vessel as if alive, and without hesitation, the Corpse Governor moved. His consciousness flowed deeper into the vessel, tightening his control to its absolute peak, and then he stepped forward before he vanished into the hidden passage.

The moment he entered, the distortion closed behind him as if it had never existed.

His destination was already decided; there was only one place left that could explain everything. The deepest core, where lies the final truth, the Undead Heart Seal, and this time, he would not observe but confront it.

---

Meanwhile, far deeper within the forbidden pathways, Ace stood before the sealing barrier, unmoving. The oppressive runes pulsed faintly before him, each wave pressing against his senses like a silent warning.

But his focus wasn’t on the seal anymore.

"...So even Lawless Darkness isn’t enough..." Ace spoke quietly, his voice calm, but his mind was already racing.

Within his consciousness, Pixy’s faint presence stirred.

"You finally realized it," She said, her tone light but sharp. "This isn’t something you can bypass with tricks alone."

Ace’s eyes narrowed slightly.

"I wasn’t relying on tricks," he replied calmly. "I was testing limits just as you told me to do."

Pixy gave a soft, almost amused scoff, "And now you’ve found one. Nonetheless, I should still congratulate you."

Ace exhaled faintly, and he was about to reply in resignation when all of a sudden, his expression suddenly changed as his eyes snapped toward the Live Fate Map.

"...!"

For a split second, he thought it was a mistake, but the next moment his gaze turned sharp and focused because out of nowhere a new fate point had suddenly appeared, and its color was pitch black, and worse still, it was moving right towards his direction!
