Chapter 1556: Whispers in Evernight…

Chapter 1556: Whispers in Evernight…

Hidden in the darkest fold of the Abyssal Plains, far beyond the reach of wandering realms and detached from the rest of abyssal space, lies the Evernight Sanctuary, the most sacred and forbidden place under the Evernight Council’s dominion!

Moreover, calling it the heart of the Evernight Council won’t be wrong, for it was the embodiment of their very existence, the very place where the Evernight Founders founded the Evernight Council!

The Evernight Sanctuary was not a single structure or existence within the Abyss of Wandering Souls, but an entire vast secret realm, built like a fortress by an unknown abyssal civilization. It was carved out of ancient materials and anchored by special abyssal laws far older than any current Abyssal King!

The structure of the Evernight Sanctuary resembles a colossal ring-shaped citadel, suspended over a bottomless gulf of impossibly dense, pitch-black mist, as if a star were about to be swallowed by a black hole.

Furthermore, the sanctuary’s architecture was unique, unlike anything in the Abyssal Plains, as everything here reflected nothing; even if the buildings were damaged or the realm itself were destroyed, it would grow back like ribs from the realm’s heart.

Moreover, the entire sanctuary was covered in something called Abyssal Crystal Lattices, which exist only within this secret realm, pulsing like dormant hearts and running with runic rivers of devouring shadow across the walls.

Lastly, the outer ring of this structure was a wall-like continent, tall enough to eclipse the horizon, and it was also the very foundation of the sanctuary that seems to keep the pitch-black mist at bay; behind this wall lies the true headquarters of the Evernight Council!

Within a forbidden location of the Evernight Sanctuary, unknown voices were communicating with each other, and there were no traces of their existence, as if they were all merged with the sanctuary itself, and not even an Abyssal King could sense them within this unique space!

“First Brother and Third Sister, since you are awake and here, I guess you have heard the news already about the unknown ancient remnant related to the Law of Sin within the Obsidian Myriad Kingdom and on top of that the Cult of Undying Star was planning something in the exact same location where the ancient remnant had been present!” A devilish voice sounded with a hint of sharp killing intent when he spoke the name of the Cult of Undying Star!

“Those disgusting insects just refuse to die!”

A fierce yet melodious voice with a touch of childishness berated.

“Hehe, disgusting or not, they are simply remnants of the Cult, and no matter what scheme they were hatching, it still ended up purged by our children; they are not worth mentioning. What I’m actually interested in is the Ancient Remnant related to the Law of Sin!” A fiendish voice filled with intrigue and hidden greed inquired.

“Hmph! First Senior Brother, we know how much you like to explore, but as you’ve already heard, the ancient remnant vanished the moment its seal was released, and little Varathia has already confirmed it…” The melodious voice snickered before she continued with a grave tone, “And don’t even think about going after that little guy, he was merely a proxy, a pawn of Moonless Wandering King, doing his bidding without knowing anything.”

“Third Sister is right.” The devilish voice acknowledged what the ’Third Sister’ said, and he also seemed to have the same opinion, “Although I don’t know what the Moonless Wandering King has been planning all these years when he hadn’t appeared for almost three thousand years, from his recent actions, he seemed to be helping us.”

“Heh, do you guys really believe that? Naïve!” The fiendish voice scoffed with a hint of disdain, “Don’t forget the Moonless Wandering King is the one who dared to go against the Evernight Edict and broke into the Abyssal King Realm! He’s nothing but a miscreant that needed to be purged!”

“We know you and the Moonless Wandering King have some secret history that you don’t want to reveal to us, and we respect that, first brother. Furthermore, we also know the Moonless Wandering King’s ’kindness’ comes with strings, and we haven’t forgotten what he had done. But…” The devilish voice coldly warned, “Right now, his actions are mysterious, and he did help us by delivering a ’Ghost Race’ remnant to me! If, despite that, we moved against him and showed ill will towards his disciple, who will ever dare to trust the council?”

“I hate to admit it, but Second Senior Brother is right! We must not repay the favor by malice!” The third sister agreed with a hint of wariness, “And Moonless Wandering King merely asked for his disciple to enter the Evernight Sanctuary, which is strange, and couldn’t reveal his true goals. So, until we figure them out, it’s better to play along. After all, within the Evernight Sanctuary, even if an Abyssal King dared to enter, they can’t exist alive!”

“Hehe, do we really need face when we are the strongest and do whatever we want? But fine, I’ll play along for now because I also want to see just what that miscreant is scheming. If he really dared to scheme against the sanctuary, I don’t mind personally reminding him of his place!” The first brother coldly stated.

“Don’t worry, first brother, if the Moonless Wandering King really dares to scheme against the Evernight Council or if he has done something to the Evernight Sanctuary, we won’t get in your way.” The second brother agreed without hesitation, “However, we need to observe for now, and there are still some strange coincidences related to his disciple, like the Ancient Abyssal Permit’s abrupt appearance.”

“Oh, I nearly forgot about it. Come to think of it, little girl Varathia’s domain seemed to be the center of everything ever since that little boy showed up on her door. Or it’s because of the awakening of…” The third sister seemed to be about to say something when the first brother curtly cut her off.

“Alright, that’s enough, you can’t speak of ’it’ even casually!” He coldly expressed, “I’m going to investigate the Black Hermit City personally, and I won’t interfere with that boy for now. However, I can’t just watch an outsider getting such a privilege, especially if he’s related to that miscreant.”

“What do you suggest then?” The second brother asked as if he had picked up something from the first brother’s words.

The first brother ambiguously stated with a hint of malice in his voice, “Just watch, the opening of the Evernight Sanctuary is going to be very interesting this time!”
