Chapter 765 671: Martial Saint Council: Purging the Earth Demons
Although the flesh and blood of the Earth Demon Alien Race could be used to refine special Elixirs, there were always those who felt uneasy about this form of Alchemy. They argued it was better to completely eradicate the Alien Race from the Demon Cave, which would also allow for the cultivation of special Spirit Medicines in its unique environment.
Within the Sacred Land, many different opinions existed on the same issue.
Even when their intentions aligned, their ultimate goals differed.
Take the war faction, for instance. They might have seemed to share the same intention as those who wanted to repair the Bloodline Sacrifice Array, but their goals were worlds apart—not even on the same path.
"That's right, that could work. There's no need to send the Array Masters directly back to the Sacred Land!"
"It would also be a great service for us to exist to eliminate this cancer—the Earth Demon Alien Race—for the Sacred Land."
"The damaged Bloodline Sacrifice Array is an excellent lure. If we destroy it now, we lose that bait. And letting the current situation in the Demon Cave drag on is not a good thing at all!"
"We should all be thinking more about the next generation!"
Hearing this, the heavyset Supreme Elder quickly chimed in.
His stance was to let the damaged Bloodline Sacrifice Array remain, allowing the Array Masters to study and even repair it.
Eliminating the Alien Race could also be accomplished during this process.
With his Lifespan running short, he naturally didn't mind a fight with the Alien Race. Simply waiting for death to claim him was not in his nature.
If he could completely eliminate the Earth Demons in the Demon Cave and repair the Bloodline Sacrifice Array, that would be even better. It would offer a new kind of hope.
"The number of Earth Demon masters in the Demon Cave is significant. This matter requires careful long-term planning. We cannot be so reckless!"
"If we clash directly with the Earth Demon Alien Race, we risk facing their many hidden masters. The Sacred Land could suffer greatly. If we incur heavy losses, the cost would outweigh any potential gain!"
"After all, we have rival Sects. As long as we are strong, they won't dare to make a move. But if we suffer heavy losses while exterminating the Earth Demons, those rival Sects might very well join forces against us!"
"We can continue to grow. The Sacred Land is currently developing at a rapid pace, producing more and more masters. Once our numbers are great enough to overwhelm the Earth Demons, we can annihilate the Alien Race with ease!"
"This was the advice of our predecessors!"
Not everyone supported charging headfirst into the Demon Cave; some favored continuing their development.
The Merak Sacred Land was home to many precious Spirit Medicines and was producing a steady stream of Pharmacists. The number of Top Level Pharmacists was also on the rise. With the help of these Cultivation Resources and Pharmacists, the Merak Sacred Land grew stronger by the day, and the number of masters it cultivated increased steadily.
The same was true for the number of Blood Exchange Martial Saints. Given more time, they could undoubtedly cultivate more masters at the Blood Exchange Level. This followed the advice of the Merak Sacred Land's predecessors, a strategy they had followed to this day.
It was by following this advice that the Merak Sacred Land had developed to its current state, its power growing ever greater and its foundations ever deeper.
Naturally, some now wished to continue following this advice rather than declaring all-out war against the Earth Demon Alien Race at this juncture.
The depths of the Demon Cave were exceedingly perilous, and the Merak Sacred Land had not been able to fully ascertain the Earth Demon Alien Race's situation. Thus, it was highly likely they had hidden masters.
If their numbers were significant, starting a war now would mean the losses would outweigh the gains.
This person didn't believe the Alien Race in the Demon Cave was stronger than the Merak Sacred Land. However, a pyrrhic victory or the death of several Blood Exchange Martial Saint Level masters would be a devastating loss for the Sacred Land, making such a course of action unnecessary.
"Why be so timid in the face of the Earth Demon Alien Race? A direct war would actually cause the Sacred Land to lose fewer people in the long run!"
"Think of how many of the Sacred Land's sons we've lost during past Earth Demon uprisings in the Demon Cave! Now we have a chance to deal with the Earth Demon Alien Race once and for all. We must not give it up!"
Hearing this, the member of the war faction glared. 'This is their way of trying to stop the war,' he thought.
He had waited so long for a chance to finally display his prowess; he certainly wasn't going to give it up now.
So he argued his case vehemently, his stance unwavering.
"This isn't about being timid! I don't fear the Alien Race; I just don't want the Sacred Land to suffer a crushing defeat at their hands!"
"We don't even know how many Alien Race masters are hidden in the Demon Cave. Rushing into war blindly would not be a good thing for the Sacred Land!"
"A brute's charge won't be what ends the Earth Demon Alien Race!"
"The Sacred Land has developed this far thanks to the efforts of our predecessors. Are we to defy their advice now?"
Anger flared in the eyes of the cautious Supreme Elder upon hearing this. He was no coward and certainly did not fear a fight.
Every person who broke through to become a Blood Exchange Martial Saint possessed formidable strength and an incredibly strong Heart Nature. His arrangements were simply to prevent the Sacred Land from suffering grievous losses.
It was as the saying goes: know yourself and know your enemy, and you will win a hundred battles.
This man still wanted to wait until the Merak Sacred Land had produced a few more Blood Exchange Martial Saints before engaging the Earth Demon Alien Race in a decisive battle.
"If we want to understand the Earth Demon Alien Race's situation, isn't this Bloodline Sacrifice Array the perfect bait?!"
"The Earth Demon Alien Race must want this Bloodline Sacrifice Array more than anything. If we lie in ambush near it, we can not only figure out their situation but also kill a few of their masters while we're at it!"
"And if the Earth Demon Alien Race doesn't have many masters, we can take the opportunity to wipe them out and completely remove this cancer for the sake of future generations!"
The heavyset Supreme Elder from before spoke up at this moment.
As always, he was against destroying the Bloodline Sacrifice Array. And now, both the hawk and the pragmatist wanted to probe the Earth Demon Alien Race's true strength.
The Bloodline Sacrifice Array was the perfect lure, and he could use this situation to have the Array Masters continue their research on the damaged array.
He naturally had no intention of missing such a perfect opportunity.
This was perhaps his only chance in this lifetime to leave the Taiyu Divine Continent and travel to a true Cultivation Realm.
"But what if the Earth Demon Alien Race uses this opportunity to repair the Bloodline Sacrifice Array? What if that allows beings beyond the Blood Exchange Level to cross over? How would we deal with that?"
The lean Supreme Elder spoke, once again raising the original point of concern.
"This Bloodline Sacrifice Array was clearly prepared by the Alien Race. It's possible they still possess the means to repair it. Although this Grand Array is currently damaged, there's no guarantee the Earth Demon Alien Race doesn't have a way to fix it."
"If they repair the Bloodline Sacrifice Array and summon a powerful Alien Race master, even the many Blood Exchange Martial Saints of the Merak Sacred Land might not be a match for it."
"In that scenario, the Merak Sacred Land could face annihilation."
"A possibility that dangerous should be completely eradicated, not allowed to linger."
"Opportunity is hidden within risk! If you're afraid of every little thing, how can you ever hope to seize it?!"
"Besides, using the damaged Bloodline Sacrifice Array in the Demon Cave to figure out the Earth Demon Alien Race's true strength is the best way to eliminate this risk for good!"
"On the contrary, if the Alien Race truly has the ability to construct a Bloodline Sacrifice Array, giving them more time is just giving them the chance to build one!"
"It's better to wipe out the Earth Demon Alien Race now and be done with it once and for all!"
The hawkish man continued, his stance now aligned with that of the heavyset Supreme Elder.
He had long seen the Earth Demon Alien Race as a cancer he wanted to excise. Now that he had the chance, he would not miss it.
As for the Bloodline Sacrifice Array, he considered it irrelevant. It was a damaged one at that, so there was even less reason to worry.
Using this damaged Grand Array to trigger the final war early and annihilate the Alien Race would be an excellent start.
Previously, during an Earth Demon disturbance in the Demon Cave, his own descendants had died there. Naturally, he desperately wanted to see the entire Earth Demon Alien Race exterminated, so that the souls of his kin who died in the Demon Cave could finally rest in peace.
Now that the opportunity was here, he had to seize it!
