Eternal Life Starts from Tai Chi
Chapter 756 667: Contention in the Holy Land, Saintess Pavilion
Yang Chan listened to the news Han Bingyu delivered, sensing that the Pill Pavilion was about to be affected as well.
The main reason was that with a Supreme Elder already intervening in the matter of the Bloodline Sacrifice Array, things were bound to escalate. The Pill Pavilion would find it very difficult to remain uninvolved.
"Has any news come from Saint Master Peak?"
Yang Chan asked, looking at Han Bingyu.
"No news has come through yet. It's also possible that no news can get out."
Han Bingyu shook her head with a bitter smile.
Her intelligence network was developing rapidly, but there were still important places it couldn't penetrate at all.
Take Saint Master Peak, for example. She could only receive information if someone from there passed it on; it wasn't as if she would know about everything that happened as it occurred.
This distinction was crucial, as it meant there would naturally be delays in when she received news.
"I see. Keep monitoring the situation. If any new information emerges, come directly to me."
Yang Chan wasn't surprised. He was aware of the limits of Han Bingyu's capabilities.
Just as his own status within the Merak Sacred Land wasn't high enough, Han Bingyu's intelligence network had only been established for a short time. It was perfectly normal that she couldn't obtain more important or secret information.
"Understood, Pharmacist Yang. I'll keep a close watch."
Han Bingyu nodded quickly.
"Is there any other important news?"
Yang Chan asked, looking at Han Bingyu.
"Nothing for now."
She did have other bits of information from within the Merak Sacred Land, but on the whole, they weren't important, so she didn't report them.
"Pharmacist Yang, I'll get back to my work, then."
After Han Bingyu spoke, she saw Yang Chan wave his hand dismissively and left immediately.
Watching Han Bingyu leave, Yang Chan silently made his plans. 'I should go ask the Saintess about this tomorrow.'
'If the fallout is too great, I'll naturally need my backer, the Merak Saintess, to protect me and keep me out of trouble.'
'After all, the whole reason I came to the Merak Sacred Land and joined the Merak Saintess's faction was for her protection.'
'If the Merak Saintess proves to be useless, then why should I even bother supporting her?'
'Besides, I've presented myself as a highly talented Pharmacist. My Martial Arts Cultivation is nothing special. For someone like me, the Merak Saintess should be paying close attention to ensure I don't fall into danger. That's only right.'
'It's been one thing after another recently. I just solved my own problems, and now another huge mess comes along to disrupt my daily cultivation!'
Yang Chan's brow furrowed.
'In a major power like the Merak Sacred Land, I naturally don't have to worry about being affected by outside forces like the Great Zhou Royal Family. The internal struggles, however, are another story.'
'These conflicts are even larger than the ones in the Cyan Yuan Sect. They involve more people, and every one of them has an incredibly powerful Martial Arts Cultivation.'
'Now, it's even escalated to the Blood Exchange Martial Saint Level.'
'Back in the Great Zhou Imperial Dynasty, I only saw a Blood Exchange Martial Saint make a move once, and not many experts of that level were ever deployed.'
'But here in the Merak Sacred Land, if things escalate, far more Blood Exchange Martial Saints might get involved.'
'The Merak Sacred Land's foundation is countless times stronger than that of the Great Zhou Royal Family.'
'The Great Zhou Imperial Dynasty had only a single expert at the Blood Exchange Martial Saint Level, but the Merak Sacred Land has more than one.'
'If it weren't for the issue with the Imperial Dynasty's providence, these Holy Lands could have easily become the true rulers. The succession of dynasties would be entirely in their hands.'
'The Merak Saint Son's latest move probably doesn't involve just Quasi-Saint Son Gongye Zhe. The Merak Saintess is unlikely to pass up this chance to move against the Merak Saint Son and prevent him from succeeding.'
'If I'm right, the number of people involved is likely far greater than I initially thought.'
'It might even affect the entire Merak Sacred Land!'
Yang Chan's brow furrowed as he considered these possibilities.
'I came to the Merak Sacred Land not only for its cultivation resources and precious ancient texts, but also for a relatively stable environment where I could develop in peace and obscurity.'
'But sometimes, even if I want to keep a low profile, the circumstances just won't allow it!'
'If the fallout is as widespread as I fear, it will undoubtedly affect my normal cultivation and disrupt my plans.'
'Normally, there are still at least ten years before someone takes over as the next Merak Saint Master. But sometimes, you can't look at things from a normal perspective.'
'After all, it's not unheard of for someone to take over the Saint Master's position ahead of schedule.'
'I know perfectly well that if the Merak Saint Son is poised to become the next Merak Saint Master, the current Saint Master, Baili Xun, might abdicate early. After all, the Merak Saint Son hails from the current Saint Master Peak and is also Baili Xun's son.'
'It wouldn't be impossible for a father to abdicate early for his son.'
'The longer the struggle for the Saint Master's position drags on, the more chances there are for unexpected problems to arise. Ascending early would be a way to eliminate that possibility.'
'Conversely, if the Merak Saintess becomes the most promising candidate, then the current Merak Saint Master, Baili Xun, would likely try to stall for time, buying more of it for the Merak Saint Son, Baili Xi.'
'In this regard, the Merak Saint Son, Baili Xi, actually has a huge advantage.'
'Of course, many people within the Merak Sacred Land don't want the next Saint Master to come from Kanyuan Peak—the current Saint Master Peak—which in turn is the Merak Saintess's opportunity.'
'The various factions are tangled and complex, making the situation in the Merak Sacred Land even more difficult to decipher.'
