Eternal Life Starts from Tai Chi
Chapter 699 641: Facts Speak for Themselves, Pill Pavilion Internal Affairs Bureau
Bai Keyi, the Pavilion Master of the Pill Pavilion, held a far more esteemed status within the Merak Sacred Land than any of the Vice Pavilion Masters. Furthermore, his skill in Alchemy was irreplaceable.
The Elixirs required by Blood Exchange Martial Saints all had to be refined by Bai Keyi. Therefore, both the Saint Master of the Merak Sacred Land and the Supreme Elders held him in high regard. After all, they still needed his help to obtain the Cultivation Resources they required.
The difference between consuming Spirit Medicine directly and taking a refined Elixir was immense; one could even say they weren't in the same league.
"No problem. Pharmacist Yang, if you have any more questions later, feel free to ask me. As long as it's something I know and am at liberty to discuss, I won't hold anything back!"
Fang Zhi'an stretched lazily and said with a smile.
The handover to Yang Chan had kept him far busier than usual, leaving him with almost no time to rest.
Fortunately, it was only for ten days, which would pass quickly.
As an Intermediate Pharmacist, he had endured even busier days while trying to improve his Pharmacist Abilities.
He had spent a great deal of time and consulted countless people, especially when trying to break through to the Advanced Pharmacist rank, but he had ultimately failed.
After several failed attempts, a friend's advice prompted him to change his strategy. He decided to take things slowly and adjust his mindset.
The bottleneck to becoming an Advanced Pharmacist had stumped many. While there were numerous methods to break through, they all boiled down to sufficient accumulation, followed by a natural breakthrough.
Once Fang Zhi'an understood this, he was no longer in a hurry. He started balancing his time, making reasonable arrangements for his life outside of Alchemy.
Then, not long ago, Pavilion Master Bai Keyi sought him out. He appointed Fang Zhi'an as the temporary Steward of the Spirit Medicine Tower and promised to personally guide him once after he had fulfilled his duties.
For Fang Zhi'an, this was a huge opportunity, and he accepted immediately.
The highest-ranking people he had sought guidance from before were Advanced Pharmacists; he had never been able to approach someone at the Pavilion Master's level. It was incredibly difficult to request their time.
Now, for Fang Zhi'an, completing the handover meant fulfilling the task given to him by Pavilion Master Bai Keyi. With Bai Keyi's promised guidance, it might not be long before he could be promoted to Advanced Pharmacist, and his status within the Pill Pavilion would change along with it.
Within the Merak Sacred Land, an Advanced Pharmacist was equivalent to a Third Level Alchemist. They handled managerial duties, wielded a certain amount of authority, and had command over a much larger quantity of Spirit Medicine. They could even gain access to Top Level Spirit Medicine to use in their Alchemy.
Every Pharmacist naturally dreamed of using Top Level Spirit Medicine to refine Elixirs—after all, it was the finest material available.
'If a Pharmacist goes their whole life without ever handling Top Level Spirit Medicine, then they've been a Pharmacist in vain.'
"Then I'll be counting on you, Pharmacist Fang!"
This arrangement suited Yang Chan perfectly.
After watching Fang Zhi'an's retreating figure, Yang Chan also left the Spirit Medicine Tower, though he didn't leave the Pill Pavilion grounds.
His business at the Spirit Medicine Tower was concluded, but he still had to collect the items that came with his promotion to Third Level Alchemist, such as new robes, a new residence, and the like.
Although Yang Chan didn't plan on staying in the Pill Pavilion tonight, he certainly intended to take his new belongings with him.
He would head back to Chiyu Peak after collecting his things.
There were some people in the Spirit Medicine Tower he needed to investigate. Han Bingyu was currently still familiarizing herself with the Merak Sacred Land and taking the Basic Level Pharmacist assessment, so to investigate these individuals, he would naturally need help from Chiyu Peak.
The person he had in mind was, of course, Peak Master Liu Xuan. As one of the first to arrive at Chiyu Peak, Liu Xuan had surely established an intelligence network by now and would know the identities of the people in the Spirit Medicine Tower.
Yang Chan had no intention of keeping anyone with ulterior motives in the Spirit Medicine Tower. It was best to purge them all; leaving them be would only invite trouble.
'As for people "turning over a new leaf," I don't buy it.' He had absolutely no faith in such notions. Instead of wasting time trusting these strangers, it was far better to choose people with more reliable backgrounds. At the very least, it would reduce the risk of being stabbed in the back.
'It's best not to keep turncoats around. Someone who betrays you once will do it a second time, and they'll be even better at it, since they're already familiar with the process.'
Yang Chan left the Spirit Medicine Tower and headed directly for the Pill Pavilion Internal Affairs Bureau. All arrangements for his new robes, residence, and other effects were handled there. The Pill Pavilion Internal Affairs Bureau was even busier than the Spirit Medicine Tower, and more crowded.
The staff of the Pill Pavilion Internal Affairs Bureau weren't all Pharmacists; many were disciples from the broader Merak Sacred Land. The Bureau was connected to the Merak Sacred Land's main Internal Affairs Pavilion, functioning as one of its branches.
In terms of scale, the Internal Affairs Pavilion was actually much larger than the Pill Pavilion. After all, its reach extended across the entire Merak Sacred Land, and it was filled with more people and a web of intricate, complex relationships.
The various peaks also had their own branches of the Internal Affairs Pavilion, all dispatched from the main body. Ultimately, however, the main Internal Affairs Pavilion of the Merak Sacred Land held the most power.
Yang Chan, however, didn't need to go to the main Internal Affairs Pavilion of the Merak Sacred Land; he only needed to visit the Pill Pavilion Internal Affairs Bureau.
These branches existed because the internal affairs of the various peaks, the Pill Pavilion, and other departments differed. However, the personnel were all assigned by the main Internal Affairs Pavilion, which was why a large portion of them were disciples from the Merak Sacred Land at large.
Besides, the Internal Affairs Pavilion required a large number of staff. If the Pill Pavilion's branch were staffed entirely with its own members, most of the Pill Pavilion's personnel would end up working for the Pill Pavilion Internal Affairs Bureau instead of practicing Alchemy.
