Eternal Life Starts from Tai Chi
Chapter 594 - 575: Dragon People, Trial Reward
’The trial on this level is this difficult?’
Yang Chan frowned, staring at the draconic humanoid creature.
According to the Black Dragon, this was a humanoid creature with the bloodline of the Dragon Race. They were collectively known as Dragon People and were considered an Alien Race. The bloodline it possessed was far richer than that of the Flood Dragon-type Creatures Yang Chan had previously encountered, and it was also much stronger.
This was a master who had completed the Third Bone Marrow Cleansing. Its overall abilities, from speed to strength, were far superior to Yang Chan’s.
"Master, do you need me to intervene?"
"If I use my full strength, I might be able to kill it!"
the Black Dragon spoke up.
It had seen Yang Chan use the Taiyuan Sword and still be unable to defeat the Dragon Person, so it proactively offered its help to show its support.
"That won’t be necessary. This is as far as I go in this trial; there’s no need to proceed further."
Yang Chan shook his head. As the Dragon Person charged at him, he crushed the Token he already had prepared in his hand.
He cared more about his safety than any reward.
He was no match for the Dragon Person on this level. Even if he somehow managed to kill it, he wouldn’t receive this floor’s Spiritual Materials. Besides, if the Black Dragon used its full power, it would likely fall into a deep slumber, as doing so would consume its accumulated Soul Power.
Replenishing that power would take a long time, and in Yang Chan’s eyes, it simply wasn’t worth it.
Passing this level of the trial was pointless if he couldn’t get the Spiritual Materials, especially when it meant using up a trump card as important as the Black Dragon.
The Purple Void Secret Realm was full of valuable things; the treasures here were only a fraction of them. It certainly wasn’t worth such a risk for Yang Chan.
As the Dragon Person charged forward, a halo of light enveloped Yang Chan, and his form vanished from the space.
This elite Trial Land was far more difficult than the previous ones and naturally required greater strength to clear.
While it was a shame to leave behind the Spirit Medicine on this level, a man had to know his limits.
Yang Chan had a very clear understanding of his own strength and would never attempt things that were beyond his capabilities.
Contrary to what he had expected, crushing the Token didn’t send him directly out of the Solitary Void Trial Array. Instead, he arrived in a peculiar space.
He called it peculiar because the space was filled with countless treasures, scattered about casually. They shimmered with a dazzling light, making it impossible to look away.
It was like a treasure vault, with valuables strewn about haphazardly.
Seeing the scene, Yang Chan first scanned his surroundings but found no one else. He then inspected the areas around the treasures and saw no signs of any traps.
"Is this an Illusion Realm?"
Yang Chan looked toward the Profound Yin Hanging Bead and asked the Black Dragon inside.
Finding himself suddenly in a treasure vault, Yang Chan’s first instinct wasn’t to grab the valuables, but to check for danger. Only after that did he question whether the treasures were real.
Wealth is a powerful temptation, but in Yang Chan’s heart, no treasure was more important than his life. Safety would always be his top priority, with all else coming after.
"No, this is a real space. This place should be where the elite Trial Land distributes its rewards!"
the Black Dragon said slowly after observing the area and using its Visualization for a moment.
There is a vast difference between the real and the illusory. While it was difficult for someone like Yang Chan to discern, for an existence like the Black Dragon, who had once broken through the limits of a Divine Spirit, it was easy to see the truth.
Back in the Solitary Void Trial Array, the Black Dragon had instantly understood its inner workings, knowing the boundary between illusion and reality. Such was its power.
"However, there must be restrictions on these rewards. You can only take the treasures for which you meet the requirements."
"Those three boxes over there... those are likely the treasures you can claim, Master."
The Black Dragon’s gaze fell upon a distant table, where three indistinct boxes were placed. It was impossible to tell what was inside them.
Hearing this, Yang Chan took his Flying Claw out of the Profound Yin Hanging Bead. The tool wasn’t of much use to him these days, but it was perfect for a little test.
He didn’t dare retrieve these treasures with his own hands, unsure of what restrictions they might have. The Black Dragon’s warning made his heart skip a beat, reinforcing his decision not to take any chances.
"Go!"
The Flying Claw shot from Yang Chan’s hand, aiming for a Treasure Sword among the scattered valuables. Judging by its materials, it looked even better than the Renowned Sword Yang Chan currently wielded; it was a treasure he coveted.
TING!
The moment the Flying Claw touched the Treasure Sword, a bright light flared from the blade, deflecting the claw completely.
Yang Chan tried again, with the same result.
He switched to a different target, but it was no use. A curtain of light covered all the treasures, preventing him from acquiring them. He even tried to grab one by hand but failed; he was simply repelled again, feeling a powerful resistance that blocked him from the treasures.
The only reason Yang Chan dared to try with his hand was because he could now perform Limb Regeneration. Even if his hand was crippled, he could restore it. This ability was the source of his courage to experiment, as the potential harm to him was minimal.
Unfortunately, it was to no avail.
Only then did Yang Chan reluctantly approach the table where the boxes were placed. It was impossible to tell what treasures were hidden inside.
As he drew closer, Yang Chan noticed a line of writing materialize on the tabletop.
"Elite Trial Rewards!"
Yang Chan read the inscription. Though the characters were ancient, dating back ten thousand years, he could still recognize them. ’It seems learning those ancient scripts wasn’t a waste of time,’ he thought. ’They’ve finally proven useful.’
’So the rewards aren’t given after clearing a trial, but are handed out at the end based on the Trial Taker’s performance,’
Yang Chan mused, staring at the boxes. He still couldn’t tell what kind of treasures they held.
He lifted all the boxes from the table. Sure enough, this wasn’t a "choose one of three" or "choose two of three" deal—all of them were his reward.
’But these boxes are so small. What kind of treasure could they possibly hold?’
Yang Chan shook his head, looking at the boxes that were just a little larger than his palm. They didn’t look like they could contain any significant treasures.
Even if they held something valuable, the quantity would surely be small.
Compared to this, Yang Chan would have much preferred a cartload of Top Level Spiritual Materials. He could have used all of it for Refining Elixirs to aid the cultivation of a Bone Marrow Cleansing Grandmaster, which was far more valuable to him than other treasures.
Even if the boxes contained Elixirs to aid a Bone Marrow Cleansing Grandmaster’s cultivation, the quantity would be small, so Yang Chan didn’t place too much importance on them. After all, every person was different, and so were the treasures they needed.
He was well aware of the rewards from clearing previous trials. They were useful for others in his Realm, but only for *ordinary* people. For a Pharmacist, there was little of true value, even among rewards tailored for his level.
"These boxes are not as simple as they look. They are spatial treasures; the space inside is nowhere near as small as their outward appearance suggests."
"However, the boxes will likely dissipate after being opened. They are not permanent items."
The Black Dragon’s sudden revelation made Yang Chan’s heart leap.
Perhaps the treasures within would exceed his expectations after all.
