Chapter 863: Chapter 243: Li Yuan’s Response

The elder in the green robe said, "Since you have entered Third Grade, you ought to be qualified to serve as an Elder of my Mu Xuan Sect. Yet a sect may have only six Elders; the six seats are now full, and there is no Elder’s cave abode available..."

Within the Immortal Realm, things are broadly divided into four regions.

First are the Mortal Realms.

But they are all small kingdoms, utterly unable to compare with even a single prefecture of Great Zhou. There is hardly any Spiritual Qi there; even if some exists, it is scattered and sporadic, like puddles left after the rain—here today, gone tomorrow. Such places are often occupied by Demon Beasts who have awakened their intelligence, but disciples of the Sect do not deign to look at them.

Second are the Spirit Towns.

The essence of a Spirit Town lies in relying on a "Spirit Gathering Array" to draw in the idle Spiritual Qi from the surroundings and gather it in one place, thereby increasing the concentration of Spiritual Qi.

Third are the cave abodes.

A cave abode is a naturally formed center of Spiritual Qi; the Spiritual Qi around it is already rich, and at its core it is richer still.

Fourth are the Blessed Lands.

The Sect’s Official Disciples naturally take up residence in Spirit Towns, while the Elders each possess their own cave abode. Only the five Sect Leaders may enjoy Blessed Lands, and the Supreme Profound Sect’s Sect Leader is not someone set above the five Sect Leaders as an extra figure, but is one among these five Sect Leaders.

Spirit Towns and cave abodes are like "collective dormitories" and "standalone villas."

Within a Spirit Town you get a "small society," with all manner of petty crap going on, and all kinds of factional cliques; there are not many secrets between people.

Whereas a cave abode is far more tranquil, and can hide secrets; it is convenient to the extreme.

At this moment, Li Ping’an kept silent.

When it came to things worth fighting for, he would not play humble.

When he first arrived, everything filled him with novelty, but now... he needed a cave abode to settle his family, and he wanted Third Lady to be rid of the harassment of some lechers.

He had originally thought the people of the Immortal Realm were all ethereal and detached from the dust, but in truth that notion was not worth shit.

Ethereal and dustless was only their appearance; as for the human heart... the stronger it is, the more greedy it becomes.

Bullies fear the hard and prey on the soft; the weak are meat for the strong—this has always been so.

For a thousand years the Immortal Realm has seen no outsiders. Now that such outsiders as they have come, even though they are sheltered by their master’s lineage, they will inevitably be excluded; Third Lady’s beauty is enough to topple cities and kingdoms, and has drawn the eyes of quite a few.

Some have even proposed "marriage alliances," wanting Third Lady to serve as a concubine, so that this group of outsiders might gain another backing.

Li Ping’an naturally refused.

Now he remained silent; this was his way of insisting.

He needed the status of Elder; he needed a cave abode.

The elder in the green robe saw his silence and wore a thoughtful look. In fact, among those who had entered Third Grade, there were several disciples queued up waiting to become Elders. If Li Ping’an had been just another such disciple, he would have dismissed him outright.

But Li Ping’an was different.

First, Li Ping’an’s Talent was outrageously strong.

Second, there were Li Ping’an’s connections.

The elder in the green robe had once spoken with Su Mushen, and thus knew clearly the important ties bound to this youth.

Li Ping’an had kinship ties with Lady Yama of the Human World in the Ancestral Land.

And they had already gotten a clear picture of the situation in that Ancestral Land.

That place is like a "Ghost Realm grand fusion": first three mighty beings are chosen, and then these three mighty beings undertake a "three into one" slaughter.

Only this slaughter admits no second place, no third place; lose, and you are gone.

Yet Lady Yama stands within this "three into one."

Lady Yama is an aberration impossible to replicate, the sole existence with a human nature and a Ghost Body.

No one can fully guarantee that the final victor of this "three into one" will not be Yama.

If the victor is Yama, then this Li Ping’an becomes the link to Yama.

The elder in the green robe pondered for quite some time, and then said, "Now that the Spiritual Qi within the Realm of my Mu Xuan Sect is gradually rising, we may perhaps establish a new cave abode. The six Elders’ seats are currently filled, but if there is a new cave abode, one may also be granted to you."

He paused again, then added, "I promise you this: if there is to be a seventh Elder, that Elder shall be you."

"Many thanks, Sect Leader."

Li Ping’an replied in a deep voice and bowed.

The elder in the green robe said, "Since you have entered Third Grade, you must seek Master Wang to Forge Array Flags for you."

"Yes."

Li Ping’an nodded.

But he knew it would likely not be easy. Master Wang was a Weapon Forger, yet one of the "Immortal Domain Government Offices" of the Wang Family where he resided happened to be coveting Third Lady’s beauty.

Still, with the Sect Leader having spoken and the general momentum in his favor, Li Ping’an did not fear that the man would refuse.

For now, all he could do was Cultivate with all his might, so that he might grow stronger.

Only by becoming strong could he protect his family, protect his elders.

In bygone days, he was the crybaby who shouted "I’m the number one Swordman under heaven," but after losing his master and his father, his shoulders have already taken on a heavy burden.

Years have altered his temperament, and changed his visage as well.

...

...

Middle-earth.

Autumn.

Da-da-da...

The hooves of a white horse rang in the wind.

A beautiful young woman in a gauze robe of green rode proudly through the autumn wind.

The Firefly Demon felt herself growing ever stronger; this was a rising tide lifts all boats.

Someone like her would naturally not be easily captured; only... she now had a few vexations.

Because she must find that Senior.

She had originally thought that Senior had been slain by the Human Emperor, but not so; instead, he had revealed himself in the Western Pole.

The Western Pole was a place she could not enter, a place that had been completely sealed off, and were she to dare show herself there, she would likely be torn to shreds by those Barbarians.

Still, she did not believe that Senior would remain in the Western Pole forever.

So she searched everywhere.

She had her own methods; if she drew near that Senior, she would be able to sense it.

At this time, she had already been searching for more than three years, yet had never found that Senior.

There was no help for it; she could only continue the search.

Perhaps... this time she ought to move closer to what has become the "central hub" of this expanse of land.
